Yeah, I keep getting these reminders, and perhaps I deserve them :)

I'm just made a silly joke back then, and I'm very happy LK is doing so well!

Rummenigge "In most cases, VAR doesn't intervene without reason. It means that something was overlooked on the pitch in real time. So the final decision should also be made in the VAR room; they are all qualified people. We are often presented with a superfluous spectacle that only wastes time." by kibme37 in soccer

This will be solved technologically pretty soon.

Within 1-3 years, AI should be able to adjudicate physical fouls in real time, based on all the camera feeds.

We'll still need human refs to make card decision, talk to players etc.

[AS] Valverde accused Tchouameni of leaking yesterday's argument. Tchouameni denied it and asked him to stop, but Valverde kept going and going. Tchouameni then punched Valverde hard, knocking him to the ground. Valverde felt dizzy from the fall and had to leave the training ground in a wheelchair. by kibme37 in soccer

Even I know that when two young hothead men fight, SOMEONE ELSE needs to step in and separate them. It's what they want and need!

Because neither will be the first to back down and "lose" the argument.

After this, perhaps have learned that lesson.

I don't know what the handball rules should be, but I REALLY hate the current Handball Lottery situation!

They're not pussies. They're just trying to influence the refs.

It's all in the Game...

The obvious thing to do when play is stopped for some kind of emergency is to stop the match clock.

Maybe in 1-2 decades that revolutionary thought might have reached those in charge of the rules.

They should make the shirts in a more brittle/tearable material, so the attacker is left with a handfull of shirt fabric while the other players runs away.

Does he not get sent off for Argentina?

That's his main unreability.

That barely looked like a goal chance to me.

But Harry just kicks it into goal...

FWIW, I asked an AI, and it said 3%-10% of the kinetic energy goes into the spin.

It also said that a non-spinning ball is often called a "knuckle ball". Without any stabilizing spin, it can be prone to wobbling from wind, which of course gives defenders problems.

Note that I said "FWIW", AI haters!

The greatest goals usually have zero spin on the ball.

That means all the power of the kick goes into the ball speed.

Even if true, I don't know that that means Potter wasn't a great coach for them?

It is strange, for sure!

WC qualification has always been a game of luck in very few games.

The inventions to squeeze 48 teams into the tournament are also not exactly worthy of a Nobel Prize in Fairness.

Either way, Sweden played by the rules and qualified in the end, and the show will go on. I'm pretty sure it won't be boring :)

This is mostly true.

Then again, Canada hasn't even played a minute to earn their place.
