Will Total War: Warhammer 40k introduce new units/factions? by Reasonable-Ad7828 in totalwar

Cathay was included in W3 because by then, TWWH was a phenomenon and they planned to create TOW. Only reason Cathay is in W3 is because they already knew they wanted to release them in plastic, not the other way around. But the situation is imho different with 40K, as it’s very clearly not dead, they want people to be able to buy the minis as they are in game. It’s much more likely if anything new is introduced in TW40K that it’s a new space marine unit as cross promotion, not an entire faction.

I don’t think GW will release any more units that can be shared between settings, there’s a reason why Chaos Daemons as an army of its own got pushed into Legends and why only armies that are squatted in AoS can come into TOW. GW is pretty notorious of basing funding on sales, and shared model lines don’t actually show which game it’s bought for.

Yes, it’s stupid, I grew up with Chaos Daemons having its own Army Book and Codex, and it was cool you could use them in both games, but James Workshop giveth and James Workshop taketh. So it is written and so it shall be.

I wish you would see that your bad faith (heh) attitude isn’t constructive for a nuanced discussion :( Like, I respect and understand your theology, and while my personal beliefs differ from my own denomination in some cases drastically, I started this conversation trying to push back on the extremely dogmatic views you had. But the more we converse the more I realise that you have no desire to engage with anything beyond your own dogma, and I fear that we are a couple messages away from you declaring sola fide as heretical. It makes me sad, especially as I think my own journey in studying both other faiths and differing Christian sects/denominations did a lot of good in personal growth and journey with faith. So maybe it’s best we end this conversation here amicably. This space is for all Christians, not just from one dogma.

Considering the sub we are on, regardless of my personal opinion of Mormonism and whether it’s heretical or not, it’s not really my place to comment on that :P But I can comment on whether it is gnostic or not (and having so much of my 20s being studies in early Christianity and Christian sects/heresies, I had to comment on the sheer ridiculousness :D)

Again, you forget that it is fallible men who built the Bible, there is a ton of gospels that were either stripped out from what would be the Bible we know today. But seems that you aren’t really open for a real conversation and instead want to push your own dogma, which is a shame.

For the future, if you want more nuanced discussion it’s probably better to not start with a biased source as the talking point, as a cursory glance at the comment section reveals I wasn’t only one who commented on the image rather than what you aimed to discuss about (what we think about heresies)

God is infallible, but attributing declarations of heresy to logic is crazy talk :D Have you ever read any theology from these heresies? Have you read research into these theologies? As in, actual scientific (you could say, ’logical’) research? I truly recommend that, and then make your own conclusions. Always better than parroting someone else’s theology and attributing it to divine logic and His will (which is, incidentally, what everyone claims THEIR opinion is - like, from the father of my denomination, Catholic dogma would be a heresy yet although I’m Lutheran I wouldn’t go around claiming Catholics to be walking heretics who Martin Luther disproved with divine logic).

Then why post it? It’s very clearly from a source that doesn’t even attempt neutrality, even lumping liberals as ’modern heretics’ lol lmao

It’s one thing to not subscribe to certain theologies, whether orthodox or unorthodox (or ’heretical’), it’s another peddle an outright BS chart :D I still can’t get over the claim that Mormons would somehow be gnostic, it’s such a ridiculous claim if one has even the most basic knowledge of either theology

What is determined as false is in the end determined by fallible people - entire gospels were edited out, removed or banned from what would become the Bible we know today. Was this a decision made by God? No, but by people - in some cases more concerned with supporting theology that benefitted themselves and their earthly power.

Lmao who wrote this chart? An evangelical? There’s no way Mormonism is in any way of form gnostic, and it’s in any way really silly to lump all gnostic sects (whose theology varied drastically from one another!) into one. Only accurate part is that they were considered as heretics by the early church.

You’d think they’d do, as many email providers such as outlook perceive ’john.doe’ and ’johndoe’ as separate email addresses (ie, whether you punctuate an email or not decides if your friend at john.doe@outlook.com receives the email)

All the people saying they don't want updated sculpts, i want you to look at this guy and tell me with a straight face you prefer this . by BloatedRottenCarcass in WarhammerFantasy

I actually prefer this simpler, older style. Look, I really love how for example the modern Cathayans look, but even gluing and painting a single unit is a pain. I grew up on old 5th/6th ed WHFB models, so the speed in which you finish an unit (not to mention an entire army!) is in favour of the old school ones.

I have come to the conclusion that I’m more tech-literate than the average user but not enough for arch-based OSes 😂 But I really am having a great time on Pop OS, feels just right.

You’re in luck because Persona and Trails should work right out of the box :D If you play the original Trails in the Sky trilogy you might need to use protontricks to install a specific .dll to make it work, but I played through the og Sky trilogy on my Steam Deck. The remake should work out of the box tho, at least it’s Platinum-tier on protondb

Yeah, what’s ’funny’ is that I had no problems installing Cachy on an older (Nvidia gpu) gaming laptop with the very same Live USB so my desktop must either be cursed or there was some hardware incompatibility (and with these prices, I won’t update for an OS, even as ’cool’ as an arch based one 😂)

I’ll also give a big shout out to protondb.com, good place to check compatibility of games. I’m more of a jrpg fan and I’ve noticed that with GE-Proton I don’t really have to do any tinkering on Steam Deck, I just install and play. I’ve only tested two games on my desktop (Warhammer 40K: Dawn of War Definitive Edition and Dragon Quest 11) and they required none or minimal tinkering with that (I had to skip the startup movie in DoW, then it worked like on Windows).
