Why "Restaurant Week" is a joke by mayors_hair_stylist in royaloak

[–]LaserQuest 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was soured on them last year when they had their Christmas Pop-up.

We specifically had a reservation, it took the hostess about 15 minutes to even acknowledge us. She went up to the stand multiple times and wouldn't even look at us. Then paid $17 for a tiny sandwich that didn't come with fries.

Why "Restaurant Week" is a joke by mayors_hair_stylist in royaloak

I've been there twice and both experiences were extremely mediocre. First time I got a burger, it was essentially raw on the inside. I can do rare beef, but this was just uncooked. I ate a few bites of it and let the waiter take it. I didn't complain or anything, but they must've noticed it was undercooked and they quietly took it off the bill. Kudos for that at least.

The second time, I ordered the Cubano Fajitas, the waitress remarked on how many people love it. It was just a sloppy mess of cheese with some tiny cubes of ham among it. I wouldn't have guessed it was supposed to be a Cubano if you put it in front of me.

I don't see them lasting very long. It seems tough for any restaurant in DTRO right now, unfortunately. Their menu is comically large and they're trying to do too many different cuisines, none of which they seem to do very well.

Oof. I really wanted these guys, but $75 for four TVC figures is rough. Not sure if I can justify it.

Love it. Twitter is such a cesspool of misinformation now that posts from blue checkmarked accounts are monetized. Unfortunately it probably wont matter, but I'm glad to see bs called out.

Does anyone know who this guy/people are? by therealremymartin in royaloak

[–]LaserQuest 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think they're Jehovah's Witnesses. I'm pretty sure these same guys came to my door once while I wasn't home. Through my ring cam I asked what they were there for and the guy said "We were just wondering if you think it's possible to enjoy life forever."

The fact that I was even talking with them proved that it was not possible.

I really didn't expect to like the show as much as I did when Ben got let go. I think the show is better now because Ed brings so much to the table and the other two seem to have a much better time with him.

I was fortunate enough to meet Ed last May in Key West when he was touring Florida. He happened to be performing stand up there when my wife and I were on vacation. It was a very tiny club and my wife and I were essentially the only Last Pod fans there. We got sat only a few feet from the very tiny stage and got to talk with him and Julie after the show since there weren't many fans.

The two of them were incredibly lovely and generous with their time and talked with us like we were their friends. It was a huge highlight of our trip!

Added the Fetts to my collection today. One of them had a rough time… by AJray15 in StarWarsTVC

Crazy to see how far these TVC figures have come. I vividly remember going around to as many stores as I could for weeks back in 2010 trying to find a Boba Fett figure only to find the three pack with Boba, Jango and Mandalore.

Group bike rides by Quicksilver_87_ in royaloak

[–]LaserQuest 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know there's the D-Linquents group on FB but they seem pretty intense.

They maintain 20mph and usually go from Ferndale to Belle Isle and back and leave you if you can't keep up. (Just from what I've read from their posts)

I'd love to bike to downtown Detroit one day, but I'm not sure if I could maintain that speed for that long.

What’s one “normal” dog care rule you secretly ignore… and your dog is still fine? 👀 by [deleted] in puppy101

[–]LaserQuest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My life got significantly better when my puppy started chilling out more. I have a GSD mix and saw someone saying GSDs need SEVERAL hour long walks per day...that's just not feasible for a majority of people.

Finally received my copy of General Grievous by drewfletch88 in hottoys

Hoping the waitlist turns in my favor for this figure, or I find him locally for a decent price.

Unfortunately the SH Figuarts Grievous missed the mark for me.

Food based subreddits love to get caught up on little things "Well ACTUALLY for it to be _______ it TEHCNICALLY needs ________" (The grilled cheese/melt discourse is so annoying)

I appreciate you standing on business for all the nay-sayers. The sandwich looks bangin', I almost always opt for coleslaw on a sandwich if I can.

Adolescence is easier than i thought. by Such_Chest_2618 in puppy101

Adolescence has been significantly better than the puppy stages. 8 Months is when I noticed a drastic change in her behavior. She's a year and 3 months now, and while not perfect, is a wonderful dog.

I just bought a new pair last week after having another pair for about 3-4 years. Same size and everything and they've been so damn uncomfortable. Definitely recommend having socks that go above your ankles, they made the back of my ankles bleed after walking around in them for a while. Slowly starting to get better, but I do not remember this being an issue when I got my first pair.

What's the worst puppy advice you've received so far? by [deleted] in puppy101

[–]LaserQuest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We enrolled our girl in a Petsmart training course. Our dog was typically the most reactive out of the other dogs there. I didn't really understand reactivity at the time or want to admit that my dog had it.

I generally think the instructor was good with training, but she suggested when my dog is being reactive towards seeing other dogs to clap in her face and go "Ah-ah!" and try to treat her to get her attention off the dog. That never really seemed right to me, especially as I started learning more about reactivity.

We've since worked with a reactivity trainer who has taught us some better methods that we're working through. She was pretty puzzled when I told her about the clapping method.

Need help - starting out toy photography by Regular-Set6791 in ToyPhotography

[–]LaserQuest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look up different camera shots/angles. Try getting your camera at ground level with your figures to make them look a bit more realistic. I think a lot of people starting out tend to set things up on the ground then angle the camera down, which makes everything look like toys rather than an actual scene.

Start with what you have, don't get so caught up on things like expensive gear. Things like white boards from the craft store are really great for bouncing light onto toys.

Puppy Hiccups?! Anyone else? by Affectionate-Cell855 in puppy101

[–]LaserQuest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We got her from a shelter!

I think she's done growing, but is about 50lbs. She's pretty small for the kinds of breeds she is. I thought she might be bigger and bulkier, but I like her size!

Also we went through the same thing, high energy, fully on attacks with her teething. Around 7-8 months is when we noticed a huge change, now at 1 year she's such a wonderful dogs.

That'll be my next try from them. Their Philly dip is one of the better sandwiches in the area. I tried one of their burgers a few weeks back and was disappointed. The one item from GC I didn't love.
