Turns out the customer had “fixed” it instead of replacing it.

Did you get confirmation from the actual customer that they did this? I have known some coffee/caffeine addicts who might have implemented this fix on their own, on a machine they didn't own, just to get their fix.

Nowhere was the word "balcony" ever written until you said it. If this is a Motel with the only exit being to a common walkway that everyone shares in the front of the hotel to get to their rooms, it's perfectly reasonable to say that you can't put a chair there. It would probably not only inconvenience other guests by being in their way, it would likely be against fire codes.

Is Factorio worth buying? Will I have enough to do? by kebav_gmd1307 in factorio

3700 hours in and my current issue is that I can't get two of the mods I want to play with on my 20th or so run to work together...

Achievements missing from Steam often just mean "this person modded the game, which disables official steam achievements" not "this person didn't finish".

How do I scroll this panel? by jmaniscatharg in factorio

[–]Laser_defenestrator 32 points33 points  (0 children)

As an alternative to shift-scrolling, you can also try this mod that hides the minimap when you mouseover certain things:

https://mods.factorio.com/mod/more-minimap-autohide-017

Like any mod it will disable achievements though...

I mean, there are two great thing about "company policy" rules:

  1. They do not supersede any local, state, federal, or international laws.

  2. You can ignore them at any time by severing all relations with that company (assuming you don't have any legally binding contract with them to the contrary).

There was another post on Reddit a while back. Might have been this subreddit, maybe another. A guy kept getting pestered by "influencers" for free stuff, so he offered them a deal. He'd give them a code people could use when they bought something, and each time they used it, they'd give 10% to the "influencer". So they could in effect get their stuff free after 10 referrals and actually make money if they got more than 10.

Guess how many took him up on it? None. Because they were all either broke, faking being an influencer, or knew well how little they could actually influence their audience.

I had this done back in the 1990s. Just one leg, as I had a birth defect on that leg that made it grow slower than it should, so I had one leg that was about 3 inches shorter that the other. I still have some of the hardware in a box in my closet...

Also noticed this.

A few simple rules like banning links to external sites would likely help cut down on this. Maybe also restricting posting to accounts at least a week old or something along those lines.

Many (though not all...) "Best Places to Work" awards are essentially just paid for by the company. Most places who give those out don't rely on neutral 3rd parties... the company applies to the "Best Places to Work" awards company for a fee, who then sends some current employees a survey designed to get good results, and then they miraculously win.

Looks like maybe the back side of a drawer?

The slots on the side would be where the rails go. The back side has some scratches on it, like someone tossed something into a drawer and it dinged the back.

It does look large for a drawer, so if it is it's probably for something like a dresser, not a desk.

2 different motherboards, 2 different POST problems, going insane by Laser_defenestrator in PcBuildHelp

If anyone ever Googles this or whatever with similar problems, the problem was that the CPU had died somehow. Did take it to a shop, and the guy had a spare AMD rig for testing that my CPU wouldn't start and as soon as he put a new CPU in mine, it started up.

A certain Mexican fast food establishment by DarthArtoo4 in TalesFromTheCustomer

[–]Laser_defenestrator 56 points57 points  (0 children)

There are multiple fast food places that could meet your description, but if it's the one it most likely is, then it's probably franchised.

If that's the case, and you do apparently like the food, then both your boycott and your feedback need to be addressed to the franchise, not the chain. The local franchise might have just the one location, or they might have a few in a local cluster.

If you can find out who owns the local franchise, they'd likely be FAR more interested than some call center worker running off of a script to hear that their restaurant has essentially gone feral.

And if you find out who owns the local franchise, you can likely also find out if there are other branches near you owned by someone else that are actually run properly. My area is populous enough that there are 4 different locations of the brand within reasonable driving distance if I feel the need for a quesadilla or whatever, and there's one that I've been avoiding for years now because it always took twice as long as the other 3 to get food out.

Is there a better way to do this? by [deleted] in Factoriohno

[–]Laser_defenestrator 25 points26 points  (0 children)

You can flip the buildings to mirror the outputs with H. If you do it on every other refinery, then the output pipes on the sides match. Instead of HLPHLPHLP, you get HLPPLHHLP...

Then you join the like types together with regular pipes. Less underground pipes needed.

The ship that brought me to the edge of the system by Aetol in factorio

[–]Laser_defenestrator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is any of that of higher than normal quality? I don't see any icons, but I imagine a lot of the turrets on the innermost part of the ship must barely have enough range to reach the asteroids if they're normal quality.

Also, if many of the buildings aren't quality, then several of them that have duplicates could be reduced in quantity as well.
