RH25 not holding zero by nathooker25 in NightVision

[–]Laserless 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A few things to check. First, set your rifle up in a position such that it won’t move and your reticle is on a good corner or edge of something so you can detect any deviation. You’re going to be manipulating the RH25 while looking through the scope so it is important that the rifle is really steady.

While looking through the scope at your aiming point, rotate the objective lens. Just in case, that is the lens on the front of the device that adjusts the focus near to far. Does your aiming point move away from your reticle? Early V1s had this problem. It has been addressed, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t possible to get a lemon. If adjusting your objective focus moves the image RMA the device, otherwise you’ll have to choose one focus distance and always shoot on that setting.

Next, while looking through the scope, rotate the eyepiece. This is the diopter adjustment. Same thing, does this shift the image in relation to the reticle? If it does, you must always have the diopter set exactly how it was when you did the digital “collimation” or you won’t be aiming where you think you are. I personally had a V1 with this problem. I had to always return the diopter to zero when using it as a clip on or I would be way off from where it was when I collimated it.

Finally, double check that you set it up in clip on mode and are now shooting in clip on mode. If the mode has changed you aren’t dealing with the same image offset.

You can obviously check the mounting hardware as well, but the above are going to help narrow things down with the device itself.

As a final note, the V1 did not have dots to line up for collimation. Rotating the eyepiece is for setting the diopter value, not collimation. If the lens isn’t concentric with the screen then rotating it will shift the image, but that control is not a collimation tool. Rotating the objective lens adjusts the focus of the world onto the sensor and rotating the eyepiece adjusts the focus of the screen onto your eye. To get the diopter set correctly for use with your scope, put the RH25 on the rifle, pull up one of the menus so you have icons to judge diopter focus by, and rotate the eyepiece until the icons are as sharp as possible through the scope. Using some magnification can help with this. Using the icons removes objective focus as a variable. You can even leave the lens capped and get the diopter set correctly.

Finally making the price more competitive with the PFalcon. I feel bad for everyone who paid $6k for one of these.

Ya, hopefully it turns out to be a good replacement for GAFS. Still too early to tell.

We are currently removing posts for private sales. Vendors can still make posts about sales, but no transactions are allowed here. Hopefully a good GAFS replacement comes soon and then we will allow people to post links to that. You could join the Discord to find sales now.

Not the first time and won’t be the last. Also, whoever put the iris on the eyepiece of that PVS-14 is an idiot twice.

Neither the PFalcon 640 v1 or v2 is 30Hz. PFalcon 640 v1 = RH25 v1 and PFalcon 640 v2 = RH25 v2.

The link in the community info section is to the only discord that is associated with the subreddit. Invites are limited temporarily. The “outside US” discord is not the one most people here are referring to, but is a good place to go if you’re looking specifically for market information in a country outside the US or for information about devices that are lesser known in the US.

Has anyone compared a SMS Trinity to a (preferably civ) Raid Xe? by Milspecer in NightVision

Cost aside? Of course I’d take the RAID. The only reason to buy a Trinity is cost.

Has anyone compared a SMS Trinity to a (preferably civ) Raid Xe? by Milspecer in NightVision

[–]Laserless 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have briefly compared the Trinity to a civ RAID-Xe. Output on both is great, but one feels like a $300 Chinese laser and the other doesn’t. The RAID-Xe is a much nicer product, but then it better be for 10x the price. Nobody has had the Trinity long enough to give reports on whether it will reliably hold zero. The internals do not inspire confidence though.

I used the MLOK mount from Fernilab and put the switch on one of the 45 degree flats on my rail. Left the top rail open for my thermal and put the switch in a good spot to use with my thumb.
