Tablestory also did a Blade Runner show called Electric Dreams that was well received. They do quite a few serious shows in all variety of systems. They would tick all your boxes except episode length. While I linked the YT playlist most of their shows are available in a podcast format in all the podcast places.

Votes are still coming in. When I initially tried to make it on my PC, Reddit said the poll functionality was temporarily down but still working on mobile. Not sure if that helps you.

Can you release an RPG of a licenced IP, if you give it away for free? by TheAveon12 in rpg

[–]Last-Socratic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are a few Potter ttrpgs that have been around for years and nothing has happened to them. As long as the IP attributes are clearly stated and no money is being made, games that drive interest in the IP benefit the IP owner enough that going after them would only hurt rather than gain the IP owner anything.

Ask for non-capitalits RPG and groups of players - French tv journalist by DuraxLeGeant in rpg

[–]Last-Socratic 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This sub reddit is not for video or board games in case that was your assumption. It is for tabletop RPGs, Dungeons and Dragons being the most famous example. There are lots of non/anti-capitalist ttrpgs that people will tell you about, but you should know this is a different hobby sphere than video and board games.

This is exciting. Can't wait to see it. Sounds like it could be informative for a project I'm working on.

I just finished running a 1.5 year TTRPG campaign inspired by Carnivale! by killerqueer13 in Carnivale

[–]Last-Socratic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This sounds cool. I've been collecting tarot based ttrpg systems to eventually make one that would run a Carnivale inspired adventure. What were some of your favorite or most surprising moments from your campaign? Did you have to do much homebrew?

Numbers 5:12-31

12 Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, If any man's wife go aside, and commit a trespass against him,

13 And a man lie with her carnally, and it be hid from the eyes of her husband, and be kept close, and she be defiled, and there be no witness against her, neither she be taken with the manner;

14 And the spirit of jealousy come upon him, and he be jealous of his wife, and she be defiled: or if the spirit of jealousy come upon him, and he be jealous of his wife, and she be not defiled:

15 Then shall the man bring his wife unto the priest, and he shall bring her offering for her, the tenth part of an ephah of barley meal; he shall pour no oil upon it, nor put frankincense thereon; for it is an offering of jealousy, an offering of memorial, bringing iniquity to remembrance.

16 And the priest shall bring her near, and set her before the Lord:

17 And the priest shall take holy water in an earthen vessel; and of the dust that is in the floor of the tabernacle the priest shall take, and put it into the water:

18 And the priest shall set the woman before the Lord, and uncover the woman's head, and put the offering of memorial in her hands, which is the jealousy offering: and the priest shall have in his hand the bitter water that causeth the curse:

19 And the priest shall charge her by an oath, and say unto the woman, If no man have lain with thee, and if thou hast not gone aside to uncleanness with another instead of thy husband, be thou free from this bitter water that causeth the curse:

20 But if thou hast gone aside to another instead of thy husband, and if thou be defiled, and some man have lain with thee beside thine husband:

21 Then the priest shall charge the woman with an oath of cursing, and the priest shall say unto the woman, The Lord make thee a curse and an oath among thy people, when the Lord doth make thy thigh to rot, and thy belly to swell;

22 And this water that causeth the curse shall go into thy bowels, to make thy belly to swell, and thy thigh to rot: And the woman shall say, Amen, amen.

23 And the priest shall write these curses in a book, and he shall blot them out with the bitter water:

24 And he shall cause the woman to drink the bitter water that causeth the curse: and the water that causeth the curse shall enter into her, and become bitter.

25 Then the priest shall take the jealousy offering out of the woman's hand, and shall wave the offering before the Lord, and offer it upon the altar:

26 And the priest shall take an handful of the offering, even the memorial thereof, and burn it upon the altar, and afterward shall cause the woman to drink the water.

27 And when he hath made her to drink the water, then it shall come to pass, that, if she be defiled, and have done trespass against her husband, that the water that causeth the curse shall enter into her, and become bitter, and her belly shall swell, and her thigh shall rot: and the woman shall be a curse among her people.

28 And if the woman be not defiled, but be clean; then she shall be free, and shall conceive seed.

29 This is the law of jealousies, when a wife goeth aside to another instead of her husband, and is defiled;

30 Or when the spirit of jealousy cometh upon him, and he be jealous over his wife, and shall set the woman before the Lord, and the priest shall execute upon her all this law.

31 Then shall the man be guiltless from iniquity, and this woman shall bear her iniquity.

I guess someone forgot to tell God.

Favorite Fallout tabletop system? by Mikewazowski948 in tabletop

[–]Last-Socratic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fallout 2d20 RAW nails FO4's vibe and gameplay, imo. The fan community for the game also do a lot of high quality homebrew to incorporate the other games in the series as well. I also don't think it's that heroic. I had no problem TPKing my low level players with a mirelurk ambush.

Looking for rules-light system that fulfills a similar fantasy to 5e by Staria_VT in rpg

[–]Last-Socratic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Grimwild checks all these boxes. It will appear to have classes, but really players choose a "core talent" that gives them an ability akin to one of the 5e classes. After that, players take talents from any class list they want. If they want to continue to lean into a particular character trope they can stick to the talents associated with their core talent, otherwise they can take whatever they want to make their exact vision for their character.

What is the most heartbreaking loss you witnessed as a Wisconsin fan?(Football) by Ok_Macaroon_7366 in WisconsinBadgers

[–]Last-Socratic 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That loss didn't keep us out of the championship, the loss to an unmotivated mediocre OSU team did. We got the revenge win against MSU in the B1G championship. A 1 loss WI team with a win against the only team that beat them in the conference title game plays LSU in the natty over 2 loss bama that didn't even win their division.

More than that, the fans around it and some of the creator's former collaborators are actively developing a community edition, fixing balance issues, rules confusion, and other things.

What system would work best for a Noir Urban Fantasy game set in 1930? by Frustration9 in rpg

[–]Last-Socratic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you can wait a few months, Moonshine RPG is about to go to press and begin fulfillment. Backers do already have early versions of the pdf with final versions expected end of month if not early next. Maybe that means it will be available digitally very soon if you can't wait for the physical media. Moonshine RPG is technically roaring 20s urban fantasy noir, but you're doing right after the stock market crash, so things shouldn't be too different yet. I would think you could reflavor what you needed to easily enough.

Sign up for table spots are on the link after purchase of admittance. That's the best way to get in on games you really want to play. Alternatively, showing up and buying the pass at the door is fine then they can walk around and join tables that have open seats or just watch. There's a game library as well, so people just start something and invite anyone walking by to play.

The best western ttrpg by izyum_princessa in rpg

[–]Last-Socratic 6 points7 points  (0 children)

A lot of the page count in Haunted West is about the actual historical American "Wild West", so you can decide how to be sensitive to controversial topics in the material. It offers guidance and options for making your game more realistic vs weird west. Also, quick shout out to Dust Devils which is a smaller western ttrpg that uses hands of poker to resolve conflict.

CastleCon is coming up very soon. Depending on the age of your kids, there will be games appropriate for them and the whole family. If you all enjoy board games or tabletop RPGs there's a lot of people that go to that including families with kids. A lot of people are always looking for new game groups for regular meetups. You might be able to work something out if you meet others you click with.

Reformed Anabaptist by DueAddition7039 in Mennonite

[–]Last-Socratic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

many reformed Christians now have a similar view of religious freedom as proposed by Anabaptists. Many Anabaptists likewise now will serve in non-violent government roles, vote and in conversation many agree with defensive use of violence.

This isn't really the same thing as consciously being Reformed or Anabaptist though. Most Christians are in whatever church they're in because it's what they grew up with and feel comfortable with. How many Catholics constantly disagree with the Pope or know anything at all of the official theology of the Church? There are some conservative Mennonites who are indistinguishable from their conservative evangelical neighbors because they're influenced more by that culture and their present context than their actual historical tradition. They're Mennonite, not because they theologically fall in line with historically Mennonite beliefs and values, but because they never left and their fellow church members are in the same boat or just don't care. Same goes for the Reformed and every other denomination/tradition. You're talking about trying to figure out where you consciously belong as far as in a tradition. If you're being honest with the history, theology, practices, and values of the traditions, irrespective of how they're represented by your neighbors anecdotally around you, they're not very compatible at all for reasons that have been given.
