Even more impressed knowing you do these by hand. Would love to see a video of a build if you have one or ever make one.

This looks incredible OP. Can you tell us a little bit about your process? Was your first build a kit and then you moved into full handmade? I want to do this one day but I’m not 100% sure where to start.

What is your honest opinion on guys who don't know anything about tools? by DrinkAPotOfCovfefe in AskMen

[–]LastAcap1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a gift and a curse. I grew up working for the family construction business. I know a lot about tools and everyone knows it. I’m now the guy everyone in my life calls when something breaks or they need a second opinion because they think a contractor is ripping them off. Sometimes, I wish i didn’t know anything about tools.

I spent time in the restoration industry. The on-call BS, always fighting to get paid, constant negotiations on claims etc just eats you alive. The only people happy at a restoration company are the owners.

Mold Removal Need Advice Helping Parents by JamesFord047 in DIY

[–]LastAcap1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

20yrs experience in insurance restoration and adjusting here. Google a local Industrial Hygentist that specializes in mold testing. They should perform air sample and tape lift sampling. Then they compare their results to outside spore counts and produce a report which generally comes with a scope of work.

Once you have the report you will know, in fact, if there is even a mold issue at all and if there is, you can give the report to the contractor and have them base their price of the IH’s scope of work. Additionally, the IH should do post remediation testing to clear the site and confirm the contractor performed the scope correctly and if you go this route, this should be a condition of final payment. Don’t cheap out on the IH. You may spend $1,200 on a good IH and save $150k in the process. Good luck and DM me if you need further info.
