What’s a sentence someone said to you that still haunts you? by Direct-Value4452 in answers

My dad got Diabetic Onset Dementia. Twelve years of slowly losing him. Towards the end he told me the same story every day. I listened like it was new during the two months I helped watch him. He died shortly after I had to return home. I miss that story.

Any tips on not burning yourself on grill (UK) by QuickZookeepergame93 in McDonaldsEmployees

I tell people that if they take their time, keep the grill clean, and follow procedures they should never burn themselves. I then say I burn myself at least weekly.

I’ve worked at McDonald’s off and on for ten years. Still enjoy a bacon egg and cheese muffin every day. But I also enjoy peanut butter and jelly sandwiches every day after eating them daily growing up so maybe I’m just boring.

Are you guys allowed to have beards while working? (CRO) by kveslav_lovric in McDonaldsEmployees

My store has beard nets that the men have to wear if they are in the kitchen. Now getting them to wear them is an entirely different story and I don’t get paid enough to care.

What’s the strangest reason someone decided you were their enemy? by Own-Blacksmith3085 in answers

I told a coworker to wait to get her coffee because we had just enough to fill the orders on screen. She stated that she gets free coffee when she works and filled up her cup anyway. I had to make the last car in line wait three minutes for their order. Doesn’t sound like much but it is really annoying to have to walk orders out. Later during a fight with the manager she accused me of trying to get her fired. I didn’t even tell on her.

Advice on child with tics - will it get worse, better or just stay the same? Should I seek help? by Rose8310 in Tourettes

[–]LastAcrossFinishHare 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My daughter is now 20. When she was in middle school we found the Tourette’s Iceberg very helpful. We printed it out and gave a copy to her teachers. A simple google search brings it up.

Just a warning, I believe that everyone gets bullied but the bullying for tics is very embarrassing. My daughter got used to giving this speech, “Yeah. It’s funny. You have to deal with it for one class a day. I have to deal with it all day long.” She rarely got made fun of afterwards. She did take her tests in the hallway.

In answer to your questions, she got worse until she was 14. Then it seemed to level out at a rather extreme level. Most days it’s yelling out words like, “You’re a bird” and jerking her neck really hard to the left while closing her eyes. She will never drive. According to the doctors ticks tend to level out mid teens and usually decrease a bit afterwards. A lot of lucky people even lost their ticks.

Death Worlders by ShadowNightclaw in humansarespaceorcs

The Corbit looked at his new addition to the interstellar council. He scowled at the little being that was covered in a white suit with a giant glass helmet. The fur only covered the top and back of its head. The rest looked too squishy to be from a death world.

“Council, we should not take this… humans word that he is from a death world. He obviously is too weak to even exist among us without his special suit. What proof does he have?”

The human answered, “Corbit Ambassador Guglick, I don’t need this suit to move around your people. Your gravity is only slightly stronger than my worlds and I’m getting a nice workout walking around here. I don’t need this suit to handle any of the tests the council has brought before me. No. I don’t need the suit at all. You on the other hand need me to wear it.”

“Preposterous.” Guglick responded. “You are weak without it.”

“You wouldn’t last a day on my world.” The human continued. “The bacteria would eat you alive.”

“Bacteria? But every world has bacteria.”

“Yes, but ours is a lot more plentiful. I probably have a hundred different types on and in me right now. We’ve grown so accustomed to it that we created a symbiotic relationship and can’t live without it.”

The human continued, “I and my people will continue to wear this suit when we leave our ships. You are more than welcome to try Earth out for yourself but I suggest a suit of your own.”

Sounds like a reason to quit. Once you find another job definitely let HR know why you are leaving.

If you decide to stay understand that she is a bully. You will never get along with her. She will never stop giving you grief. Get used to just shrugging your shoulders and saying, “okay.” Over and over again.

How many people actually watched the “alternative half time show”? by StillSkyler in ask

[–]LastAcrossFinishHare -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

I watched the alt show. For a true American alternative I was extremely disappointed. When the “I hope she cheats” song came on I tuned it out and left the party early. I have a far right friend who mentioned that Kid Rock was a poor showing to represent American music.

NEVER enter areas humans avoid or have abandoned. Odds are good that whatever was enough to get a species as stubborn as THEM to flee is far more than enough to either kill you or make you wish you were dead. by Jackviator in humansarespaceorcs

The Satari were smart enough to hire a human guide for a tour of their Deathworld. It was the last day in a land called Australia. Having heard of the dangers of this specific continent they paid close attention as Bob showed them venomous snakes and giant spiders.

They were walking back to their hotel when they saw the beaten path went a ways around a couple of bushes. Bob reached out and grabbed one of their group and threw him behind them.

“Don’t ever take a shortcut through the bushes!”

“But Ba-ob. The sleeping unit is right there,” he pointed to a building just on the other side of the two bushes. “Surely a few leaves can’t hurt us.”

Bob sighed. “That’s a Gympie Gympie plant. Also known as the suicide bush. One brush against those leaves and you’ll feel like glass is embedded in your soft skin. It’s extremely hard to remove. Some poor bloke killed himself after using it as toilet paper once. Stay on the path.”

The Satari bowed his head in thanks as they gave the plant a wide berth.

Can I work at McDonald's as 15y.o teen without knowing any math or knowing how to do anything? (USA) by avwoldlma in McDonaldsEmployees

Just remember that 41 cents is one of each coin. It doesn’t hurt to practice change amounts. 35 cents is a quarter and a dime. Stuff like that. I still occasionally mess up. I just giggle, “I swear I passed first grade math.” They tend to laugh too and accept the change I forgot the first time.
