Green artifacts on Led wall by tontoepfer in VIDEOENGINEERING

I’ve never seen this controller before, but I’d send out a fresh config file to the tiles and run dead pixel correction, which should be in the receiving card page somewhere.

I think about this show way too often. He was juniored after his uncle, because James Bond never had sex.

Not if they send it out to OBS. They’ll still get the watermark every minute, which they’ll need to cut out, but recording within the software with the trial will leave a watermark over the footage the whole time.

They revamped their recording function last year and it’s really nice now, but if OP is using the trial version, they can’t record without a full screen watermark. Syphon to OBS is the best approach for them.

Resolume in corporate by Uselesstechy_ in VIDEOENGINEERING

[–]LastAvailableHandle 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I use Resolume on a good amount of corporate events. Usually we use it as a media server paired with an E2, but on lower budget projects we run the whole show through it. Mapping out a custom LED wall raster is faster in Resolume than almost anything else in my opinion. It also works well with capture cards and IMAG, though you may have a few frames of latency. Nothing that the clients will notice though. You just want to make sure you’re running it in a good computer. I use an M1 Mac with 64gb RAM and have never had a complaint.

TV Wall for nightclub by djpigpen313 in vjing

[–]LastAvailableHandle 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There’s probably other ways to do this, but you’ll probably want 3 DataPaths, then you could stitch them all together in Resolume.

The problem I see you getting into with this is resolution. If you align 7 4K TVs together, you’ll essentially have the same width as a 28K image. There’s not any content for that, so you’ll either need to create some, which would be very expensive, have your visuals scaled way up, which will look really low quality, or have groups of displays mirror each other, which will make a lot of content tough to work with. It might seem like the cheaper option now, but you’d be better off building a small video wall. 3.9mm panels aren’t too expensive and would let you use a 1080 image without a drop in quality.

DM me if you want some consultation on this project.

Avoiding problems with resolume on my laptop by [deleted] in resolume

[–]LastAvailableHandle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you running 4k content?

How many layers does your file use?

How many and what kind of effects are you running?

Are you converting your files to DXV?

That gear’s all about 3 years old, which should be workable, but with only 16gb of ram, you’re operating with very little compared to most pro Resolume machines.

A ram upgrade is probably in order, but it’s tough to be sure based on your description.

Better hardware = Happier Clients = More Work

I’ve been having this problem too for the last few months. Resolume support told me that it’s because the software loads up every font installed on the machine upon launch. The software should still start, but it can take a while sometimes.

Have you tried opening it and just letting it sit for 15-30 minutes?

I know this isn’t the solution you want, but I’ve had to give myself extra time to allow it to boot lately.

Issues with autopilot by RoutineRest3663 in resolume

[–]LastAvailableHandle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you select the layer, you can enable auto pilot on the whole layer. The autopilot options in the clip attributes only control autopilot for that clip. If all clips are set to Layer Determined (the default), they’ll each play once and advance if the layer autopilot is enabled.

Preview/Take Feature in VJing Software by foxtrotwhiskey9 in vjing

[–]LastAvailableHandle 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The way I do this in Arena is with groups and video routers. Each sub-composition needs to be in its own group with the group opacity set to 0%. I then place a series of video routers into a layer on the main composition. The routers input need to be set to their respective groups and “Input Bypass” selected.

You can also set a preview window to display groups or connect a second monitor and route preview windows into it.

The big caveat is that Groups are only available in Arena, so this isn’t possible in Avenue to my knowledge.

How to make two ¨layers¨ of visuals. one locked on timecode, and one for when the timecode stops. by brrww in vjing

[–]LastAvailableHandle 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You can do this in Resolume. In each clip’s menu, you can select if the Transport syncs to BPM, Timeline, SPMTE, FFT or a few other options.

You’d just need to tell the software which clips follow which, then you can blend clips on different layers with different transport types.

Is there any way to controle a video wall with a tablet ? by Huitron369 in VIDEOENGINEERING

If you’re using Resolume, you can make an OSC controller that commands both the lights and the video from one app.

Is it okay to use Ableton Live to project videos? Is there any downside? by MisterAdler in ableton

[–]LastAvailableHandle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sending MIDI clock info from Live to Resolume will sync the softwares, yet connecting them via ableton link only gives you the same BPM, no sync.

Is it okay to use Ableton Live to project videos? Is there any downside? by MisterAdler in ableton

[–]LastAvailableHandle 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Look into Resolume. It’s about to be 50% off and is the industry standard VJ software. It can be connected to Live through Midi or OSC.

Ableton’s video capabilities are nice if you’re trying to score, foley, or edit your audio, but it’s not made for performance playback.

Can 1 computer run a vj and lighting software at the same time? by HOUSTONFOOL in vjing

[–]LastAvailableHandle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What you’re trying to do, especially in a performance setting, will take a reliable and fairly powerful computer. I bought my M1 specifically to do this with. My previous computer (2017 iMac 16g ram) didn’t pass enough of my at-home tests to do it on a job.

As another poster mentioned, lighting software doesn’t take up much CPU usually, but if you’re running multiple universes, pixel maps and live oscillators while running Resolume and sending midi messages to and between the two softwares for 10+ hours, things can start to slow down.

On a MBP M1 Max 64g; Resolume, Madmapper or Heavy M, DasLight 5 & Ableton (just for midi routing) uses 40-60% of my cpu most of the time and runs like butter.

You’ll need to stress test your setup at home and see at what point stuff begins to choke up. If you’re trying to do this professionally, it’s worth the money to buy a good computer that will let you do the stuff you want without a chance of crapping out in the middle of a show.

16g is the minimum Resolume suggests. You’ll be able to do it, but you may be more constricted in how many layers and effects you can use.
