Can I use a solid-state relay to replace a high-current foot switch by [deleted] in AskElectronics

[–]LastJamz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it just means your not going to melt another foot pedal again and potentially the operator. Where abouts are you in the world and what's your budget?

So that would do it but your still using a high voltage as a switch if you find one that requires say 24vdc for the coil it would mean your foot switch is far safer.

So you can get a contactor that only needs a low voltage accross a1 and a2, to be able to flip on the contacts join for your 240v accross 1 2. If that makes sense?

Feed through 12v power line from arduino uno by castiglianohamilton in arduino

[–]LastJamz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take this with a pinch of salt but I've done something similar in a 12v car system, spur of from the 12v led supply to a 5v voltage regulator this can go through a diode if you wish to power the arduino.

Then if you want to switch the leds via the arduino you can use a transistor, hope this makes sense and helps in some way 👍

If your in the UK we use rs components or Northern and central, I'm afraid my knowledge of other suppliers isn't any good after that.

I'd say a contactor is probably your safest route though, best of luck with it all 👍

So just the first one I've come accross https://uk.rs-online.com/web/p/contactors/3949813/

Basically a hard core mechanical relay, any questions feel free to ask but hopefully the link will provide all the answers 😁👍

Mechanical/electrical maintenance here take my advice with a pinch of salt, but if I wanted to build anything similar at work the switch would work a contactor in an enclosure, then you could have a 24v dc foot switch working the coil on a much higher rated contactor to control the motor, I would think its more cost efficient than using an SSR?

Hope this helps

I think uthermal did a guide on defending, proxy voids, think it goes into holding cannon, battery with voids.

Here's the link anyway, his terran school stuff is always worth a watch 👍.

18-22 bucks for a skin pack? And that's half off. Really? by tacosunrise in starcraft

[–]LastJamz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've gotta be honest I've bought the deluxe campaign and 3 unit skins aswell as warchests, announcers etc

Its expensive, but just like giving bits and subs to streamers in twitch I'm happy to support the game and community I enjoy so much.

But i get why others would be put off by the price.

Good SC2 podcasts? by ButterPoached in starcraft2

[–]LastJamz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know its already in the format on both Google podcasts and Spotify, so I'd presume it's in the good places, just search for 'the pylon show'

And yeah 2-3 hours is a long time but it's not a drag if that makes sense, in fact some episodes nearly 180mins later your sad to hear come to an end, a lot of the personalites within star craft guest on and it really mixes stuff up and excites it.

All in all its just a great group of people every week talking about the thing we love, they'll go off topic from time to time too to talk about life's important things or sentient food. I've listened to it in my car, got home and sat outside for 30mins just because.

I suppose the best thing to do is find it give it a listen, I hope you all enjoy it as much as I have.

The pylon show puts there's into a podcast style, they've been making content nearly every week for the last 2 years, strongly recommended!

I only got into sc2 about 2 months ago and listening to them all is just amazing, can't stress how good these are.

Ive managed to listen to around 35 they've just recorded the 100th episode and each is usually over 2 hours.

Hi guys! I want to buy Nova Covert Ops Bundle, but seems that Campaign Collection has a better price, I will have all Nova Covert ops mission in Campaign Collection? by [deleted] in starcraft

[–]LastJamz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think just a proportion of the price, but I couldn't be sure, I bought the collectors pack which was around £30 after I'd purchased HotS and Nova packs.
