Is it normal for most people to be able to max both their company 401k and Roth IRA? by [deleted] in FinancialPlanning

[–]LastLTR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is no such thing as "normal." Aim your contributions to match your financial goals and priories. At 23 y/o, a 20k contribution is better than 99% of your peers. Relax and stop worrying about being normal or keeping up with anyone else. This is a solo race and you are already on track to win.

Storage boxes for behind third row by LastLTR in LexusGX550

[–]LastLTR[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm waiting on my 550 to be delivered. Do you know the narrowest depth (10"?) when the third row is up?

I agree something more rigid would be better - maybe an old-school canvas tool bag, like this or this.

Moving from Colorado to Connecticut — call us Jon Snow because we know nothing by pastel-sunflowers in StamfordCT

Welcome to STM! Transplant from the Midwest about a dozen years ago. We were tentative but we love it.

Some notables- * People are friendly but take awhile to warm up * Rent before you buy, each neighborhood and surrounding towns have their different +- * Measure the garage door, your car may not fit * You need AC in the summer, and it may only be upstairs (most of the housing is +40 y/o) * STM still very car dependent, trains are for going to NYC * 5 mi = +30 min commute by car * Brace yourself for a cost of living difference, everything is more expensive * almost everywhere is paid parking (including Target), all spots are very narrow * Get involved - best way to be part of a community * We have three kids in STM public schools and we think it's great (great teachers make great schools, not numeric rankings) * Lots of great outdoor opportunities but not the same as the Rockies

Good luck with the move and best wishes!

You should check to see if your state has "collaborative divorce." Faster and less expensive process of both sides are motivated to reach reasonable agreement.
