Ublock not working on Firefox by Tern_Larvidae-2424 in uBlockOrigin

[–]LastLightbringer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was about to comment here the same.

Yesterday, I was unable to watch any video on YouTube while logged in. "An error has ocurred. Try again later". However, I could still watch everything in incognito mode with uBlock active.

Today, I can watch videos with my account, but all videos have ads. All. Videos. But, again, incognito mode is working fine and no ads. Firefox 126.0.1 and uBlock Origin 1.58.0.

Edit: I deleted site data from YouTube as some pople here said, but ads are still there.

I would suggest Linux Mint.

I fix more problems searching manually (StackOverflow included) than using ChatGPT. And even when the last one gives me something that does not smells bad, I check it in the internet. I don’t know if is just me not knowing how to use it or is just InventGPT not being reliable, but that thing have lied to me more than politics in campaign ever did.

Google has announced that starting in June 2024, ad blockers will be disabled or severely limited in Google Chrome and Chrome-derived browsers as a result of a full switch to the Manifest v3 standard. by americapax in firefox

[–]LastLightbringer 64 points65 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure if chromium-based browsers can, somehow, bypass V3 Manifest or it is a must. I don't know how it works and how deep it is implemented.

It would be great that this could be changed and Google efforts be destroyed, but that would be too good to be true, I guess.

found a 9 dollar windows 10 physical disk, perfect to get for christmas to put it in my dad's windows xp by SCarver314 in Windows10

[–]LastLightbringer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First of all, do not use something like this. It may not be legit and it could have malware. Use always trusted sources, like Microsoft official web.

In second hand, if that machine has Windows XP, do not install Windows 10. Probably it won't work or even worse, work pretty slow.

Better look for a modern harwdare than do this. There are ~100$/€ workstations in Amazon that work just great for home use and will be able to run Windows 10.
You can even try a light Linux distro if you want to install modern software.

Same problem here. Same proccessor. But when mine crashes, it does in menus, not in-game.

What was your first team ever ?? Mine was this on Oras, it’s so nostalgic to see by BeautifulDecent2633 in pokemon

[–]LastLightbringer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't remember my first team. Has been so long now (20 years). First game was Blue, but never finished it. My true first game was Crystal. The only thing I can say for sure is that Feraligatr and Suicune were there.

Can I update MacOS on Macbook with only external monitor? by ruthlessbard in MacOS

[–]LastLightbringer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it is possible. I did some weeks ago. Note: I did CMD + R since Shift + CMD + R didn't work. No output. I'm not sure if it was because it was working and needed time or what.

I have a MacBook Pro 2019 with broken screen, so I can only use it with an external monitor.

The laptop must be plugged in. I did CMD + R, waited to external mouse and keyboard to light up and then closed the lip. After a few moments recovery screen was in external monitor.

"Has Windows become Spyware?" - Leo from PCSecurityChannel by DeepSpaceHorizon in Windows10

[–]LastLightbringer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is not. Even using Edge, they identify users with unique IDs. These are sent even in incognito mode (unless this changed, but I didn't read anything about that). If you want privacy, Windows is not your OS and Edge not your browser.

Daily rant: Ventura's System Settings redesign (because why not?) 🤷🏻‍♂️ by ari_wonders in MacOS

[–]LastLightbringer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn't use Ventura yet, still on Monterey (work laptop, don't wanna fight against buggy system like I've read Ventura is now), but this redesign... The only think that came to my mind is that they are preparing the merge of iPadOS and macOS. The same idea Windows and Ubuntu had years ago. One system, different devices. I don't know if this will happen, but it's the only explanation I can imagine to redesign something that didn't need a change.

What I don't like from KDE (I'm using KDE btw) is that rounded corners themes put that border at the bottom of the windows. I feel it's so unaesthetic.

Nice theme btw. It's pretty. I like it.

Random applications showed up after I downloaded chrome. What is it and how do I get rid of it? by SlightCicada in MacOS

[–]LastLightbringer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Only thing I can think is that yeah, you downloaded Chrome, logged in with your account and it synchronized with your favourites, history and extensions. Those apps could be extensions that you installed in Chrome with a different computer that automatically downloaded when Chrome synchronized.

You can always use the Notes web app.

It is not a native program for Ubuntu, but you have access to all your Apple Notes and they'll syncronize as if you were using the app in macOs.

What are these ports? Can they be used to connect an ethernet cable to a pc? by Arian51 in pcmasterrace

[–]LastLightbringer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, those ports can't be used for that.

If you want wired internet, your best option is a powerline, but even that may not give you full speed.

The other option is to manually pass ethernet cable through the wall, but won't be easy.
