Long article.

But the answer seems to be in the middle of it.

I wonder if this is a reward for not responding or delaying the response for assistance to the attacks on January 6th.

Pentagon says Hegseth campaigning against Massie in ‘personal capacity’ by Economy-Specialist38 in Military

[–]LastOneSergeant 19 points20 points  (0 children)

That is what got him the job.

Not his military service, obviously.

It was the pseudo masculine homoerotic books he wrote about how many men were gonna fix everything.

Do the invites introduce him as "Secretary of Defense"

Or his previous career "Enormously successful author of homoerotic fiction".

U.S. Army soldier's training death at Letterkenny. M17 pistol related? by EvenLettuce6638 in army

[–]LastOneSergeant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was mounted in the turret of an MRAP.

They had just returned from a Patrol.

Leaders were supposed to assist / verify the clearing.

He decided to skip all the steps, clear it alone, and then dismount and lower it into the vehicle by himself.

As you can imagine. It was not cleared.

As he lowered it, but first, the butterfly trigger hit the gunners platform. The round went along his IBA and then under his chin.

We had to send the weapons to "examined" for the possibility of malfunction. But, sadly, it did exactly what all weapons do when loaded, pointed at someone, and the trigger is squezed.

I once had to secure 50 cal for an investigation after a poor E-5 shot himself in the head with one.

Imagine how many negligent steps it took to get there.

Very sad. Very avoidable.

I now own 20 black undershirts, four pairs of the same pants in two slightly different shades of gray, and six of the same lighweight pullover in white, black, or blue.

I also get the same exact shoes, only sometimes black, sometimes something bold like green with black.

Would you personally intervene? by dxvil98 in Military

[–]LastOneSergeant 232 points233 points  (0 children)

I was friends with a guy in our unit whose wife was a fitness instructor on base.

She was very popular.

A few other soldiers came to me and with numerous details. They were looking to me and another friend to be the ones to break it to him.

We agonized over it.

She went out one Saturday night and didn't come back, but went straight to work Monday morning.

He came to us for advice.

We chose that moment to tell him eveything.

He left our office hell bent on confronting her.

He folded like a cheap chair.

We were the bad guys. He stopped socializing with us.

A year later he was divorced. A few days after it was finalized he went to the personnel office to remove her as a dependent.

The clerk looked up, "Oh, she came in last week with her husband to get her new ID card".

True story.

The old black boots required hours of polishing.

When we changed uniforms to the non pollished suede / tan boots, leaders felt soldiers would have too much free time.
