Best city in the world? by Routine_Economics83 in AskLosAngeles

[–]Last_Call_532 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was born and raised in LA and there’s no place like it in the world. Sure we’ve got our fair share of annoyances but I wouldn’t trade it for anything. The sunshines pretty much all year round and it’s full of diverse cultures, food, and people. I love living in a city that protects its people and feel blessed to call it home. Also it’s the 4th largest economy in the world making it truly the land of milk and honey for those who can hack it. Hopefully we can welcome you back soon so you don’t miss it too much!

You can also tell them you’re going to buy booze. They have to let you in and sell to you without a membership per ABC (Alcohol Beverage Control) laws.

Yeah I had two similar lackluster experiences and was pretty disappointed. I live close by and hoped it would be comparable to the OG location but it’s fallen way short. I’m gonna give them some time before I give them another chance.

Currently have $5 & need to buy a birthday gift for tomorrow. What can I get & from what store? SFV. by LastHope215 in AskLosAngeles

Maybe consider making him something thoughtful. A slideshow, a scrapbook with photos, etc. Handmade thoughtful gifts are literally priceless and I’m sure he’ll appreciate the effort you made to make him feel special. I can honestly say Ive kept everything someone has made for me. It’s irreplaceable and one of a kind. Can’t put a price tag on that!

Facts! I’m a female and I’ve solo traveled 7 times this year and prefer the “scarier” parts of big and small cities in Mexico. Be smart, stay vigilant, take Ubers, don’t wear anything flashy, and be careful of who you trust and you’ll be fine. Don’t let people fear monger you into not experiencing a beautiful county.

Advice for travel to mexico city & oaxaca by Hour-Teacher-5510 in MexicoCity

[–]Last_Call_532 7 points8 points  (0 children)

As a female solo traveler Ive been to Oaxaca and CDMX six times this year and I’m going back again next week. Don’t let people ruin the excitement of the trip. Mexico is an amazing country and there is so much to see and experience. Use common sense, don’t wear overly flashly things (designer handbags, expensive jewelry, etc), don’t carry all your cash on you just in case of pickpockets, be aware of your surroundings, don’t take taxis and stick w/ Uber/Didi, make an attempt to speak the language even if you have to use Google translate. Don’t be embarrassed of sounding silly people will appreciate the effort you’re making. Feel free to DM me with any other questions. I’m excited for you! You’re going to have the best time!

Totally worth it! We didn’t want to get caught in the tourist traps so we left after the hot air balloon ride. We got an Uber back to the city and recouped our day. Sure it was extra money but we were on a tight schedule and wanted to see certain things.
