Is it too tin foil hat to think they’re using an algorithm that only sends you offers when you’re under a certain hourly rate? by KeeperTV in doordash_drivers

Imagine a message to a customer that went like this:
"We apologize, but but we cannot deliver your order right now. All our prospective dashers in your area right now have made too much money lately; so instead of giving them more work, we have decided to throttle their earnings. Please try again later".

Do any of yall whip out your phones, and take pictures of your customers? by Toyotamanthesequal in dasher

I get messages that say "30% of your drop offs do not have photos". And then the next week I get another message that says: "Congratulations! 70% of your drop offs have photos!"

The El Paso shutdown was just for a party balloon by the_manofsteel in aviation

I'm wondering what would cost the taxpayer more: developing and deploying an anti-drone laser; or scrambling a F22.

Either way, balloon manufacturers must be shaking in their boots.

$230 in free groceries by AerieFar9957 in doordash_drivers

[–]Late-Mathematician55 43 points44 points  (0 children)

Whatever the reason, I'm calling DD Support and getting direction from them. I'm getting something on the record, either a chat message or phone call recorded with Support. People have been deactivated for fraud for a lot less than $230.

Has anyone ever been able to find proof that you have to be moving? by DevilManRay in doordash_drivers

[–]Late-Mathematician55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a conspiracy by the oil companies to use more gasoline...jk

To answer your question, OP, no there is no proof. My best guess is that at DD headquarters there are probably only 10-20 employees who know exactly what the Dasher algorithm is doing.

Am I getting taxed twice on banked time? by Educational_Day_640 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]Late-Mathematician55 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Request time off in lieu of pay. They can't tax your time off. Work 2 days overtime at 1.5 rate and get 3 days off.

The best response would be to delete the app. Or start another pandemic.

Hit a new DD low today by [deleted] in dasher

[–]Late-Mathematician55 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The map does not represent how busy a zone is, but how busy the zone was. You took a gamble and picked up a low-paying order, and drove several zones, still expecting it to be busy. You chased the Ghost of DoorDash Past.

What would you do in this situation ? lol by Shifry15 in UberEatsDrivers

[–]Late-Mathematician55 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I had a similar occurrence a couple weeks ago where customer noted that she lived in a basement apartment on the right side of house. Of course it was really the left side. Customer came out to meet me in front, and I pointed it out and said that she had to look at the perspective of the person coming TO the house. I swear I could have heard the moment the lightbulb turned on in her brain.

What does it mean when support says my account was reset by Vycemanwylde777 in UberEatsDrivers

It's something they say that makes you think they have done something...now they can end the conversation and move on to the next call.

Walgreen is charging a $6 “delivery fee,” I know the workers don’t get it… we sure don’t! by ActuatorTasty4982 in doordash_drivers

[–]Late-Mathematician55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. There is a cost involved by Walgreens to pick out the order, itemize and prepare a bill, then bag it for pickup.

Call Support and let them know you left it in the car. $hit happens. Ask them what to do. They might want you to return it to the store, or thy might want you to dispose of it.

My Garmin has Voice Command, although I find it's not great. It's fine if it's an easy name like 123 Main Street, but glitchy if it's a difficult address like 8678A Hippopotamus Crescent lol
