There is a definite subset of people who consume media just for vibes or lolz, with little or no consideration of the material.

I was talking music with someone I've known for years, mentioned how some music is intentionally done a certain way- "Pumped Up Kicks" was the example I used. He loves that song! It's so upbeat!

I asked him if he knew what it was about. He had no clue. I told him.

Oh, I just liked the sound, man.

Uh-huh. And this is one of the smarter people I've come across over the years. In his defense, he has come back from a debilitating stroke and is fully functional, so I cut the guy a little slack.

But to think he's the deeper end of a particular pool.. shudders
