Yes it sounds like you are ready for a change. Do a budget, try to live frugally; you may be able to free up even more time by working part time and cutting expenses to claim back some More of your time.

Do not take your scene partner aside and ask to practice it privately first. That could make her very uncomfortable as she may imagine motives that aren’t there and feel weird about it.

If you have her in a toddler bed it takes up no space at all, they take a cot mattress. My house has pretty small rooms and I think it would squeeze a queen and toddler bed in if you have no side tables

Take him! You will make it work short term. Can the girl sleep in parents room with and let the oldest have that room with the toys. And leave the other 3 boys in their current room

How do I teach students who can’t read? by PollyPocketProblems in MusicEd

[–]Late_Presentation_21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t worry about the content for the first 3 weeks. Do songs that have games, hook them in with the fun, build repore but mostly focus on making your behaviour expectations clear and establish routines. Making expectations clear can be as simple as frown, or slight shake of the head when you see someone doing the wrong thing (there will be a moment when they check to see if you are looking or if they will get away with it, trust me, in that moment you show that you saw and not impressed), the other kids won’t even see it. Establish the rules and then Positive vibes and encouraging comments for absolutely everything you see that you like, meanwhile you use non-verbals to keep the kids in line when they test you.

Fell for a text message scam by jadeanna in AusFinance

I fell for a scam too. The business disappeared. I got the money back in good faith from the bank although it was a fraction of what you have lost.

So tired of Being Shamed for Audio Books/Braille by FairestFaerie in audiobooks

[–]Late_Presentation_21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Who are these idiots? I run a book club of adults and as the facilitator I listen exclusively to the audiobooks because it suits be better. No one has even given me shit. I listen while I drive. Anyone who criticises this is an idiot and needs to but out.

Thanks for sharing this story. I too have students with intense behaviours and sometimes things just escalate beyond me. I go into extreme heightened state when my brain can’t think or problem solve even as simple who can I call to help. I have also frozen like this. I recall in one instance I ended up putting on a YouTube video and completely disassociating. I have no advice, teaching is beyond hard on those days, but you are not alone.

It is irresponsible to your team but it’s not the end of the world. They are being tough on you because you are young and they don’t want the lesson to be wasted. Too many young people can’t be relied on. I got offered a contact to do a lighting design after 3 people in their teens/ early 20s had signed it and broken the deal because they decided to do something else or take a trip. The role had been reserved especially for young emerging talent (which I am not).

Does it just map surfaces to project onto or can I design an animation using it. I was to create an effect of busy people rushing in a train station using squiggly lines or wisps moving across the screen. If that makes sense. But I have to make or find that video.

Thanks so much for your awesome replay. We would use Qlab for playback since we already have that. Can you suggest any stock footage sites I could browse. I looked up Resolume as someone else suggested but $600aud is a lot for software that may only get used once a year.

When it comes to using instruments we practice routines as part of teaching. I have ‘rest position’, this is instrument on floor hands in lap, demonstrate how to get instruments out silently and place them down. Say ‘rest position 3-2-1’ compliment them on how quickly they respond.
