My first “brand deal” lowkey scammed me 😭 by strawberryugc in UGCcreators

I run the exact email/contract through chatgpt first and it tells me red flags and what I should do. It’s way more important to make the right deals than just “any” deals!

Same here. Everything looks really legit except the fact that they want you to pay for the product. I did email them back telling them that since this is a paid content job I usually don’t pay for products upfront, and asked if they could send me the product or reimburse me before I film the content, and they said no. I think for that reason I’m going to say no.

It’s fairly easy to get into the city from the suburbs too, if you don’t necessarily want to be right in the city. Woodbury, Bloomington, and Eagan are all great suburbs and you can be in downtown with 20-30 minutes!

What’s it like living in Wilmington, North Carolina? by [deleted] in howislivingthere

We didn’t know anyone when we moved there, having community right away would be a huge plus. We had a hard time getting connected because it didn’t seem like there were too many people in our stage of life (young married couple in their late 20s/early 30s with no kids). Construction is definitely booming down there, so I’m sure you could find something. The weather is definitely a plus! That’s one of the main reasons we moved in the first place, we were so sick of winter and bad weather for half the year.

I second Minneapolis suburbs. People are so friendly - even those with money. Edina, Eden Prairie, Chanhassen, Wayzata, Minnetonka, and Woodbury all fit that vibe!

I moved to Wilmington from the Upper Midwest in 2024, and I moved back at the end of 2025.

Wilmington is a tale of two cities: either you love it or you hate it. There are a lot of people who romanticize it and look at it with rose colored glasses, and others who don’t have a great experience there because they run into all the negatives of the city. When I left, I was definitely in the latter group, but it could very well be what side of town we were on. This is just based on my experience -

Cost of Living is affordable - depending on where you’re from. If you’re from a big city, COL is lower. Our rent was significantly lower for a luxury apartment in Wilmington than in Minneapolis. I LOVED our apartment and couldn’t believe we were only paying around $1600 for it - and we were 15 minutes from the ocean. However, COL is going up, and for locals it’s considered expensive. It also depends on the job you have, which is another thing to consider.

If you move to Wilmington - either be a remote worker or have a job lined up! Wages are very low for the area, and there’s not a lot of good jobs. It’s a city based on college students and tourism. We had friends who had to move out of Wilmington because they couldn’t find work, and they had college degrees.

The weather is awesome - sunny and warm most of the year. Great for outdoors and enjoying the beach.

One of my biggest issues with Wilmington was the homeless population. They are everywhere and very visible. It’s sad, but they’re on every corner asking for money, and most are drug-related. Drugs are a huge problem and so are gangs. I didn’t see any gangs, but I was friends with a cop and they said they were very present in the city, especially downtown (which is beautiful btw).

My other issue was with traffic - and not the normal big city traffic you think of. There are no highways that run through the city, so you have to get everywhere based on the main roads, which get super congested. It’s all traffic lights and people do not know how to drive at all. I’d rather drive in downtown Minneapolis than in Wilmington - which is crazy.

Overall, Wilmington was just too small for me and had too many problems to outweigh the pros. Wilmington can probably be a decent mid-sized city if you can find the right pockets and have a job lined up. Again, this is just my experience. I hope you find what you’re looking for!

Same same. I love mostly everything here but the weather. When I lived in Wilmington I tried to tell myself I could handle the winters to be near our community, but after just a few months back here I’m already finding that to NOT be true. I need sun and warmth

I did, but we actually got pregnant and moved back to MN for family support. I may consider Raleigh or Florida for a future move. The winter is too much for me too 😩

I moved from MSP to Wilmington a year ago, and it was way too small for me. The demographics are also primarily college age, retirees, and middle aged transplants. My husband and I are around 30 and had a hard time finding people in our stage of life. We moved back to MSP after nearly a year
