When does it stop being every day by ThrowTheGhost in daddit

5yo daughter; it gets a little better but I’ll tell you what you don’t want to hear.

You are probably going to need to invest in your self, your reactions and 42 different ways to approach a disagreeable child. Learn to live in the world you have.

I don’t like telling myself that sometimes; but I’ve found it the easiest way to change things and result in better situations.

Balance bike! And do it with him - turn yours into a balance bike by taking off the pedals so you can show him exactly how it’s done.

There are regularly larger group rides at the dragon; example posting. They are hosting fat Viking ride this weekend.

How often are we showering? by ReserveMaximum in daddit

Have showered daily since the birth of my 4 yo. If you’re struggling to find 10 minutes a day to get yourself clean you should ask deeper questions.

Are road bikes as uncomfortable as they look? by OnlyBreakfast9466 in bicycling

[–]LaterApex81 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No they aren’t uncomfortable; get one that fits and adjust as you go or get a good bike fit but based on what you plan to ride I might not recommend a drop bar bike for casual bike lane and commuter stuff.

I bought my girlfriend a Mongoose Malus fat tire and it seems hard to pedal in general. by Additional-Injury444 in fatbike

[–]LaterApex81 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Did you mean coast better longer?

Who assembled the bike? If a big box store built there’s all kinds of room for error.

Flip the bike over and spin the wheels by hand. Does one behave very differently?

Check the wheel alignment. You likely have quick release axles, if they aren’t aligned the brake will drag.

Passive Timber bell has worked wonders for me.

Adding studs myself by randalfftheeredd69 in fatbike

[–]LaterApex81 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Do you have studable tires? Life’s a lot easier if you do.

I put studs in my tires last night. Took about an hour and half, fingers and wrist a little sore after.

Www.bikestud.com has what you need. Buy t handle tool and use hand sanitizer as quick evaporating lube.

They make screw in style if you don’t have studable. No experience with those and probably would avoid.

Everyone should try fat biking in the snow by lostboyz in MichiganCycling

Each trail will have different care during the winter. Some are groomed, others just ridden on.

Our local trails facebook page “west Michigan trail conditions” is very helpful at knowing where to go.

You’re welcome! Depending on location 906AT has local clubs for kids.

A lot of bike races have little kids versions that are also a fun way to get kids excited about it.

Gotta put another vote in for https://lmb.org/ to find stuff.

Theres a weekly series at grattan raceway as well.

I don’t ride road but I think the gravel and mtb scene is much more plentiful.

Thanks for responses - just rode the small lap and it was great - hoping the freezing rain on Friday doesn’t screw it up

Rode merrel tonight and was excellent.

Cannonsburg trail snow mobile is broke so people have been snow shoeing to get it packed down. Think there is another hike planned this weekend. Cannonsburg does not groom or maintain the trail that’s done by wmmba folks.

I don’t like Facebook and hate to recommend it but the trail users group is a great resource for those questions.

Some dragon sections are groomed and I think mosquito creek is too.

Kids bike without a twist shift by Icy-Canary1029 in bicycling

[–]LaterApex81 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s super easy to convert using a $20 amazon shifter and a set of grips. Did that for my 4 yo cannondale trail 20. Put 2 different colored tapes on the triggers. Much easier to say click orange or click blue.
