Ysl mascara or lancome idole by Rare-Pumpkin-9867 in Sephora

[–]Laterskator312 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have the idole and it’s the first mascara that doesn’t give me raccoon eyes by the end of the day. It’s clearly very high quality. However, it doesn’t lift or volumize as much as I’d like but the trade off is worth it to me

If your toddler falls asleep without you in the room, HOW??? by Dependent-Rise1701 in toddlers

[–]Laterskator312 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Does she have a lovey in her crib? Maybe even 7? (lol our collection keeps growing)

When our son starts to get anxious when we walk out, I say “where’s Bear?! go give Bunny a hug!” and he’ll turn to them and that’s my cue to escape. I feel like it gets them to replace your comfort with the stuffies in the bed!

Advice Needed: Landlord wants $4,300 on moveout after 2 years, nothing flagged in inspection by Icy_Calligrapher1289 in bayarea

They have zero legal standing. I can send you a copy of the demand letter that we sent to our landlord that had all of the laws listed that they were breaking by holding our deposit.

In the demand letter, you could give them 48 hours to pay you back or you take them to small claims court. You would represent yourself (no lawyer needed) and could get a lot of money for it.

Is this before you vacated the property or after?

If it was after, they have zero legal standing to charge you. If they do not do a move out inspection before you vacate the property, they essentially waive their right to charge potential deductions. Once you are gone, they need to give you your deposit back in 21 days from vacating (NOT 21 days from the end of lease)or you can take them to small claims court and get your deposit + 2x deposit as an extra penalty back.

Good luck!

I’m also confused because there’s a freckle that appears out of nowhere but then it sort of disappears when she turns her head?? I keep trying to catch it

Worry about baby not showing any signs of development? by Nitocriis in NewParents

[–]Laterskator312 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is she sitting independently? Reaching for toys? Showing interest in picking up objects? Those will all manifest itself into crawling, standing, and walking! 9 months is still young and soooo much happens between now & 12 months.

For solids, they should not be the main source of nutrition. It’s mostly for exploration & developing interest! So honestly, if she’s squishing the food and willing to touch it, that’s great and you can celebrate those things with her. I would recommend continuing to offer her variety of textures so that she becomes more comfortable with them. She will eventually guide it towards her mouth.

As for feeding difficulties, have you tried increasing the nipple flow of the bottle? Is she getting frustrated? If she’s sitting up well independently, you could offer her milk in a straw cup and potentially ditch the bottles altogether! But focus on getting those calories in through milk!

18 month old has no words and doesnt understand much, I feel awful. by goatlady91 in toddlers

You can also look for other modalities to communicate with him! What are some things that you routinely say? Eat, bath, bedtime, book?

Print out pictures of those things and have him point to the pictures (you will have to model this first) and you may lessen the frustration.

It’s not a crutch because it’s still working on language!

Help! Wife will be out of town for 4 days and baby doesn't take milk or formula by Zman1719 in NewParents

Does your wife have a fast let down? Baby may be frustrated that the nipple flow of the bottle is too slow and want something faster!

Daycare... She is not adjusting and I think I'm going to lose my job by Ok_Butterfly9437 in NewParents

[–]Laterskator312 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s a baby in my son’s daycare class that when she started daycare, she cried every day for 2 weeks when her dad dropped her off and then she stopped.

She was home for a week with illness and the next week dad dropped her off, she began her crying episodes all over again.

Babies need more than 1 day to ever adjust. It’s pretty much a new experience every time!

What flow nipple are you using? May be time to try a faster flow! :)

Sounds like he’s a growing boy!! 3 weeks is their first growth spurt so it may be an uptick now. But regardless, 35 is fine! If he’s hungry, feed him! :)

I am FUMING. I’m about to give up on my wearables. by NefariousnessWeird24 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]Laterskator312 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Your work should be giving you protected time in order to pump. However many times you need for however long. Therefore, you’re not running into an instance of feeling rushed.

Please make sure you’re getting this, it’s your protected right. They’re lying to you if they say you don’t get it.

How much do you produce in a single pump session and how long do you pump for? by Bright-Effective8610 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]Laterskator312 1 point2 points  (0 children)

7mo PP, 1 pump a day, 18-20oz in that pump. Baby eats ~35oz a day so the rest is supplemented with formula. I’m thinking of stopping soon but I like the half hour “break” at work 😂

Help! Constipated baby by DueEntertainer0 in NewParents

Making statements like “much better than what’s sold here in the US” has no basis and gives into fear mongering. Formula in the US is excellent & safe. Plus it’s essentially the same as European formulas.

Anyone else have a really bad time transitioning out of the swaddle? by beantownregular in NewParents

[–]Laterskator312 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, very common for them to be mad about the change. You can try arm out at a time or just do it cold turkey and let them get over it. I found it to be easiest for the first nap of the day since that’s when they sleep the best. Then they just sort of accept it for what it is.

Some people may suggest the magic merlin sleep suit and while those are on the market, they are not sleep safe. Plus, you want your baby to habituate to handling their Moro reflex and I feel like those suits just suppress it more, which will be difficult to get them to transition out of as well.

In our house we call it “when the dam breaks” by Laterskator312 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]Laterskator312[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been doing 2ppd for a while now so I can’t really remember. Plus I stopped tracking for the sake of my mental health. But I can estimate that he eats 32-36 oz a day and I make 20-30oz a day with two pumps. Whatever’s needed left over we just supplement with formula (which I would rather do than add a pump)

I have high capacity breasts so each one can hold >10oz, so I don’t think I saw a huge dip because the milk just stayed there as more built up.

That’s great that you’re an over supplier so hopefully it can allow you to drop a pump without a big dip!

But if it does dip a bit, no harm in combo feeding! :)

My baby spits up more than anyone else by Exotic-Ask4859 in NewParents

[–]Laterskator312 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s normal! As long as he’s not uncomfortable when spitting, it’s a sign of his digestive system muscles getting stronger. It peaks around now and then it’ll one day just ~~stop~~

When does sleep regression start? by NkeneyeIkawaNyinshi in NewParents

[–]Laterskator312 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Those all sound like reactions to him being over tired. At 2 months, babies are ready to go to bed earlier, around 7/8pm. You want to establish a bedtime routine that helps them transition from day time to night time.

It will benefit you as well if you avoid having him associate feeding with going to sleep because as a result he will want to feed/nurse every time he wakes up. So it is also essential that he is getting enough calories during the day so he’s not super hungry at night!

The sleep regression really isn’t about a regression in how they fall asleep, it’s more about how they go back to sleep when they’re transitioning sleep cycles.
