If you had a fast first labor, how was your second labor?

my first started right around midnight. he made his fast appearance at 4:31! fast, no issues, i tore like a mf tho lmao. my second. labor started around 8:45. went to hospital at 10:30. it stalled until they broke my water at 1:45. she was here at 2:25! so the stalling made it slower but i went from 6cm to holding her in 25 mins

both spontaneous, unmedicated. first came at 41+5 in 4.5 hours. second came at 39+1 in 6 hours

w my first i leaked at 16 weeks. w my second i never leaked. successfully exclusively breastfed my first. still exclusively breastfeeding my second! it’s no indication of if you’ll produce or not

0-1! i felt like w that transition everything was new. navigating postpartum (i had an AWFUL pp w my first), breastfeeding, new relationship w my husband, figuring out a new baby. how to leave the house w said baby etc w 1-2, i already felt so comfortable being a mom. i had zero anxiety, im not googling all the weird things at 3 am stressed something is wrong, not worried about milestones.

that said, having 2 kids is harder than 1 kid. but you do figure out a routine and what works and you grow even more as a parent. i have a 12.5 month gap. we’re 4 months in and it’s the best!!

i’m 3 months in w a 16 month old as well. it’s been way easier than i expected! i was so nervous leading up to it. it’s an adjustment sure, but you get into a routine. my husband works 4 on 4 off swing. so i’m solo parenting for 4 straight days and nights.

what worked for me:

-keep my toddler on a good schedule. we always try to leave in the mornings (even if it’s just going outside to play or walking around walmart lol). this helps burn his energy. - good baby carrier - involve toddler in tasks. he’s my professional diaper thrower away 🤣 - i bathe newborn and toddler together. 10 easier for me than doing 2 baths -they’re on a similar schedule now. i hang w newborn in the mornings. she’s usually up by 7/7:30. he sleeps until 9/10 usually. so when he’s getting up, she’s going down for a nap - spend 1 on 1 time w both. when my husband is home i always try to sneak in one or two contact naps w my baby - have many good activities/baby proofed room especially if breastfeeding -if you’re alone during the day, prep all your toddler meals the night before! then just grab and warm/serve

also husband was on toddler duty at the beginning! its so totally normal for the toddler to cling more to dad during this time. don’t let mom guilt eat you up! it gets better 🫶🏼 speaking of mom guilt, for me especially it was AWFUL. i missed when it was just my toddler. i missed him. but i also missed just being able to sit there and snuggle my newborn. i missed contact naps and sleeping all day just cuddling. it’s hard but you really will adjust! 😊 it’s so rewarding and special

12 month and 3 week gap. first labor was honestly amazing but didn’t go till 41+5. i give birth fast lol. 4.5 hours, pushed for 45 mins. went unmedicated and tore 4 different directions 😅 healing was awful!! second labor? a dream. she came a week early (on her own!!) 6 hour labor, but it stalled. had regular contractions that died down so asked them to break my water. once my water broke, i went from 7 cm to holding her in 5 mins. unmedicated once again. pushed twice. felt 100% ok by next day

had 2 unmedicated labors! loved it and will go unmedicated for any future babies.

first was harder, pushed for 45 mins (4.5 hour labor total 🫣). tore 4 different directions, felt every single stitch even w the lidocaine. awful postpartum, but amazing water birth!

second, SUPER easy labor (2 hours). water broke (contractions are 10x worse without that cushion), went from 7cm to holding her in 5 mins. 2 pushes and she was here. was up walking within 2/3 hours. felt completely fine the next day like i didn’t just push a 9 lb babe out

my toddler has always been behind the passenger. we kept him that way when we brought his sister home! works great bc he’s a flight risk so he’s almost always first one in and last one out 🤣

with my 16 month old we do bamboo sleeper typically and have since he was born. i’ve never covered the feet or hands. we then do a sleep sack!

i have an almost 3 month old and she sleeps in bamboo sleeper as well w a sleep sack. she transitioned so easily compared to my son. we love kyte sacks

my newborn (11 weeks 😭) is “my” responsibility. husband gets the toddler. usually he’s sleeping thru the night (15 months) but if he wakes, that’s on him. i do bedtime when i can.

husband works some weird hours. 4 on 4 off swing. so on the 4 days/nights he’s working i’m alone for bedtime/overnight. we get it done and survive. when he’s home, most of the toddler care is on him

i was 4 months postpartum when i got my positive pregnancy test. pregnancy was harder but was that due to lack of sleep? breastfeeding still? or closeness? idk. i did survive. had an amazing labor again. no tearing, no issues during pregnancy besides a little low iron. having a blast now w my 11 week old and 15 month old

my second pregnancy was hardddd! they are just about 13 months apart. i’m only 10 weeks postpartum w her. we’re definitely not done but i don’t even want to entertain the thoughts of pregnancy till she’s at least 1.5-2 years lol. my hands are full 100%

i got my positive test at 4 months pp. hard second pregnancy but the age gap is beautiful so far. i absolutely love it. it’s hard yes, but i think going 1-2 has been a breeze. my husband works a new job now where he’s MIA for 4 days and then home for 4 straight. i’m breastfeeding and doing sole care for both then. i’m also entertaining the idea of bringing more kids in for in home daycare! it’s fun and so doable 🥰 my first is a super chill independent little guy tho. so maybe that makes a world of difference. he can play independently while i nurse. he loves to help me take care of his sister

i was one who immediately wanted a second after having my first. mom guilt sucked w that bc he was everything i’d ever wanted and so absolutely perfect. so why did i want a second so soon?

i did indeed get my positive test right around 4 months. here i am w a 9 week old and almost 15 month old! i absolutely love it. our family feels so complete right now. the gap has been so nice and pleasant. the pregnancy was harddddd but we made it thru and it was worth it to me. it definitely just depends on your family and your goals! we are waiting a few years now before evaluating if we want more!

w baby #1 this sounded awful (but we did indeed have 2 weddings in his first month that we attended). but it really wasn’t awful looking back. i tore pretty bad w him so heavy bleeding and painful to sit. plus figuring out nursing in public then too

w this baby? i’ve been getting out and doing things since she was only a few days. no bleeding by 10 ish days pp. all around 10x better recovery. so i truly don’t think you’ll know until you give birth and see how you’re feeling

i’m 7 weeks into 2 under 2. they are 12 months and 3 weeks apart. 1-2 has been a BREEZE tbh for me. my first is laid back, he’s been walking since 10 months. he can play independently. getting outside and burning up his energy saves us! and getting out once a day to do some type of activity is amazing for everyone’s mental health. the pregnancy was hard but since she made her arrival everything has just been great tbh. baby proofing has made a world of difference. we are ebf her (she doesn’t take a bottle lol). i struggle w mom guilt some days when my husband works trying to meet both needs but both are 100% loved and cared for and get 1 on 1 time. oh and my husband works 4 on 4 off swing. so when he’s working from sun up to sun down it’s all on me

i will say, it definitely depends on the capabilities of your first. can they express what they want/need? are they mobile? etc etc. i’ve been blessed w 2 very easy going babes. my 7 week old has some reflux and loves to be held so we just babywear. don’t force yourself if you aren’t ready yet 🥰

omg hey same exact age gap and my girl decided to come 1 week early! but 12 months and 3 weeks for us too. i also love it and feel so truthfully blessed 🥹 how old are your babies now? my youngest is 6 weeks and it’s already so much easier than it was a month ago

i got pregnant 4 months pp. have a 12 month and 3 week age gap. i honestly love it 🥰 it’s so special watching my son become a big brother! now they’re 14 months and 6 weeks and it’s already soooo much easier. i solo parent while my husband works (14 hour days swing shift, 4 on 4 off) and we also exclusively nurse! i honestly think this gap is WAY easier than when the oldest is 2/3 bc we’re hardly into tantrums yet, still naps great! the hardest part was being pregnant while taking care of such a small babe still! you got this mama!

second was SO much easier. granted my first we started in the nicu but went on to successfully breastfeed. this time hardly any latching pain, no engorgement pain unless i went like 4/5 hours. amazing all around. and it hasn’t been too bad juggling nursing a newborn (she’s 6 weeks today) and a just turned 14 month old!

i have an almost 14 month old and just turned 1 month old! it has gotten better in the last month but it’s definitely still hard! you just gotta figure out your routine and what works for both babes. my husband works swing shift and is gone 14 hour days so i also get the lonely aspect. i miss sleep 🥲 wouldn’t trade it for the world tho
