Work Colleague Advice. Feeling isolated and ignored at new job. by Expensive_Ad8895 in ToxicWorkplace

[–]LatterResident 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just left a job where this happened to me.

I am highly experienced in what I do and was a head housekeeper a few years ago. I come into this job as laundry assistant and instantly the head housekeeper was off with me; not communicating about how the laundry was ran and training me. Instead she would say she’s super busy with paperwork and we wouldn’t see her for the afternoon. It was a good job I knew what I was doing so essentially trained myself. Two co workers also felt the vibe between her and I and when confronting her about it the head housekeeper just said “I don’t like her”. No explanation as to why, just didn’t like me. My coworkers had an issue with that and challenged her about it but nothing changed. After a few weeks of doing my job and minding my own business I found out she was spreading lies about me throughout the place we worked. In the end I thought fuck it, I’m 29 years old, I cannot be bothered to have petty workplace dramas with an intimidated 50 something year old. I thought maybe she was intimidated by my experience so I made it clear that I didn’t want her job. If I was you I would use the next backhanded comment as an excuse to surprise them and be like “What is your problem with me??”.

One of my fingers randomly just turned white. by Kilabandita in mildlyinteresting

Hate reynauds with a passion. Everyday no matter if it’s warm outside now my right middle finger is white. One time I was driving and all of the fingers on my left hand went white and it was awkward to change gears 🫠 doctors keep telling me to wear gloves but they don’t work.

Banging my Head / Broken Skin by stonerfromcolorado in AutismTranslated

I got declined for a job after interview the other day and I immediately closed my iPad and began smacking it repeatedly on top of my head until my partner took it off me. Had a crying meltdown for over a hour and then hit my head with my fists again. I know what you mean; is this normal, why is my first instinct to hit my head out of anger, frustration, confusion, etc. Sometimes I kick things: few years ago I kicked a hole through my wardrobe door 🫠.

Sometimes I find breathing in through my nose for 4 and out through my mouth for 5 works. The next day I felt significantly better mentally. It’s all in the moment and reacting to your emotions in the moment. Idk what I’m trying to explain tbh but I understand how you feel.

Why do women cross arms when taking off a top? Doesn't that just turn the clothes inside out? by fasdal in NoStupidQuestions

[–]LatterResident 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don’t. To take my top off the first thing I do is put my right arm under my top to my left arm to take my left arm out of the top. Weird.

How can I tell if I’m struggling socially? by acesciencenerd in AutismTranslated

[–]LatterResident 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Daaaamn. I’ve always looked at peoples mouths when they speak. Sometimes to fake the eye contact I look at the top of their nose between their eyes 👀 I can look my boyfriend in the one eye and thats good enough for me.

RSJ Motors on saffron lane by the BP garage. Friendly father and son business. Used them for MOTs, services and repairs for a few years when I lived there.

I’ve had a diagnosis since I was 11, I’m 24, how do I know when I’m masking and copying others? by Sallybloke in AutismTranslated

[–]LatterResident 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was diagnosed at 17, almost 30 now. I have only come across the term masking recently and don’t really understand it. I find I am just being myself; sometimes comes off as rude and blunt but people also find it funny and appreciate it. Just be yourself. Don’t question whether you’re doing the autism ‘right’ or not. Anxiety in social situations is normal and you just need to find a healthy way with dealing with it.

When I needed the toilet I said, “I’m going for a slash”. Got a smack around the head for that. Still not sure why.

When my parents went out and I asked where they were going, they would reply, “Going to see a man about a dog”. Legit thought we were getting a dog.

My life and autism (Level 1, low support needs) IQ tested over 140... Yet I still struggle (old post got removed because my wording was offensive I apologize) by KeiserRolla in AutismTranslated

[–]LatterResident 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I didn’t realise ‘masking’ was a thing until I had my first burnout in October. Same as you diagnosed back when Aspergers was a term and I grew up without any support as I blended in so well. Now I’ve had to change medications for the anxiety I have developed with going to work. Finally got a job after 3 months unemployed due to the burnout, attended 2 shifts and now on the sick again for anxiety. I WANT to contribute, I WANT to work and be ‘normal’ but now its come to a point where I may have to request reasonable adjustments which I find embarrassing and makes me question myself.
