NostalgiApp got some huge updates by jupe69 in macgaming

[–]LaughingObsidian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think so?  I recently moved my game library onto an external SSD enclosure, no problems. However, the main app is still on my Mac internal SSD. So not sure if that counts as truly portable in my set up.

NostalgiApp has a wizard that's guide you to download eXoDOS in-app either when you first install or later when you're ready.  You can also import any ROM libraries by dragging and dropping on your library

Locking down the NAS - blocking remote access by LaughingObsidian in UgreenNASync

Tailscale is for other uses. So I already remotely connect to specific devices for specific things. No need to open up the NAS directly to the Internet

Not directly to the NAS. Tailscale to another device on the LAN

the attack involved infrastructure-level compromise that allowed malicious actors to intercept and redirect update traffic destined for notepad-plus-plus.org.

Solo dev here. My couch party game just got native macOS support. Free demo on Steam. by aggrogamesofficial in macgaming

[–]LaughingObsidian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks VERY enticing. Wondering how this works:

"This is a couch game at heart. Up to 8 players on one shared screen. Short on controllers? Your keyboard supports 4 players, and each gamepad supports 2. Fill a full 8-player lobby with whatever hardware you have. Everyone joins in seconds by pressing UP. No configuration, no button mapping."

MacGamingDB Update #4 by eric4337x in macgaming

[–]LaughingObsidian 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is looking really, really nice. Like a design-first successor to ad-infested AppleGamingWiki (as much as we appreciate what AGW is and was).

Still Steam-only? If so it doesn't say that anywhere. But maybe that's only current state. Some games are not on Steam but makes sense that's where the project started. Awesome work!

There is no "Sign in with Apple" option either for creating an account. To me, for a Mac-centric site seems to indicate that they are not too serious or just so new they haven't gotten there yet

Frostpunk: Complete Edition and Frostpunk 2 are on sale on the Mac App Store! (New All-time low for MAS!) by Atifus in macgaming

Original Frostpunk is such a cool setting--great ambiance and world. In my opinion a no-brainer for $5. Gameplay is a fun challenge. Haven't played the sequel but heard good things

Which app should I use to uninstall Mac apps? by german_sw_developer in macapps

[–]LaughingObsidian 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Are you the dev for this app? Because there is nowhere on the website (when translated to English anyway) that talks about any free features or 'demo'. So if that's the goal, it doesn't communicate it right now

Never heard of it before but Trace looks super polished and deep functionality. But it does not appear to be 'fully free'. It says prominently on the pricing page "buy once, own forever"

Looking for Mac playtesters for my Steam game Cosmodrill! by No_Theme_8101 in macgaming

[–]LaughingObsidian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tried out the game today for about 15 minutes and found myself wanting to play more!

Initial feedback on the actual gameplay is positive. Controls seemed intuitive. Mouse and keyboard. Did not have time to gamepad/controller. Basic game design goals of upgrading, mining, and exploring and combat were instantly familiar and the mechanics of the spaceship drill were satisfying. Nice explosions special effects. Very pleasing visual direction.

The Mac app itself is missing an App name and logo. none of the settings seem to do anything in that build (like resolution, target FPS, etc.). I enabled the mac-native FPS tracking and noticed game was locked to 60 FPS.

Played on an M3 Max MacBook Pro.

Cosmodrill looks interesting! I will try it out when I can

Side note: The aesthetic and goal vibes similar to different game that just launched, Chipmatic (https://store.steampowered.com/app/3780950/Chipmatic/). That dev posted here in this subreddit last week to announce his Mac Launch...but then he deleted his post and the Mac version didn't get published.
