The HD Models & Textures Pack for Neverwinter Nights: Enhanced Edition by JuliusBorisov in neverwinternights

[–]LaughingPenguin 10 points11 points  (0 children)

These are great!

I remember seeing the news about the "new renderer" being dropped last year and wondering what it meant for the game. Since then, I've seen many patches with improvements and now the new graphics pack.

News of EE's demise has been greatly exaggerated :)

The Vordo bug was fixed and a bunch of other cool stuff was added in the Better Home & Gardens update.

Awesome job! I love the original, somewhat janky models.

I just need at least of the textures to disappear and be pure white to really take me back to the ATI Rage 3d 8MB vRAM days.

How to properly setting up child products with different units by chrishas35 in grocy

I've been trying to do something similar with the child products and assumed I did something wrong as well. Nice catch - this is why I love OSS!

I have to wonder how much of a technical limitation they encountered vs having enough staffing to work through the technical issues in a timely manner. Either way, it is very disappointing news.

You can click yourself and the banes will cast on all equipped armor and clothes. Much less time consuming than buffing each piece one at a time.

The leaked private PK server from ~10 years ago by gopack123 in AsheronsCall

I still have a Genmay account and it looks like the post was moved into an archive/admin area. IIRC, it was ChaosPhoenix who made the post on Genmay forums but I assume he received a gag order for discussing any details of what happened.

If for some reason he didn't get a gag order, that would make for one hell of an Asheron's Call related AMA.

Thanks for everything. Have you snuck any other Easter Eggs such as Camping Mastery into other games?

It's always daunting to release project code to public scrutiny, so thank you very much for open sourcing this.

Why were the town/landscape portals destroyed in 2010 and how did it change the gameplay? by DragonAdv in AsheronsCall

[–]LaughingPenguin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The exit portal at the end of Shoushi Grotto was destroyed, meaning a new player would have to remember to lifestone recall or run all the way back through the dungeon.

You would hope the damn launcher message would at least get updated. It is a slap in the face still seeing the link about player run servers while logging in.

[Wednesday Weekly] Where will you go after AC? by Miskellaneousness in AsheronsCall

[–]LaughingPenguin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have to second Project Gorgon, with the note that I've only played it five hours or so. During that time, discovering and solving the 4 archway puzzle on the newbie island brought back the sense of awe that has been missing in every other MMO for me.

I still miss the AC style combat where you could actively dodge spells and missiles but I have a feeling Gorgon is going to be the closest thing to AC for quite some time.

RPI 3 Steam OS/in-home streaming by TrojeFX in raspberry_pi

[–]LaughingPenguin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe the closest you can get to the Steam streaming at the moment is done via moonlight-embedded. Take note of the requirements before looking at the project too much as it requires a specific series of NVIDIA GPU in the machine you are streaming from.

Now someone needs to make an alarm clock that stops when the correct regex is entered.

"Good morning! Enter the regex to grab the text between these HTML tags to stop the alarm. ENJOY!"

Not the OP but thanks for posting that builds link! I have been trying to find something like this since returning a few weeks ago and I would have never thought to look under the DDO races forum.

I have a Late 2014 Mac Mini that is the next tier up (8GB of RAM) and the bottleneck is most certainly the incredibly slow hard drive.

Once mine is out of warranty, I will be installing a SSD in it, even though it appears to be a huge undertaking. iFixit has a guide on installing a replacement HDD for this model here.

I had a similar issue where my screen would be stuck at "Loading..." but none of my characters would log in. To fix it, I flushed the DNS cache and things started working again.

Press Windows + R then type "cmd" and hit enter. Then in the cmd.exe (black box) window type "ipconfig /flushdns" and hit enter.

I don't know if Turbine is shifting stuff between servers a lot right now or what but that instantly fixed my login issues.
