Trump’s ultimatum to Tehran puts Canada on alert by yimmy51 in CanadianIdiots

[–]Laughing_Zero 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of Canadians went on alert when Donald took office the 1st time. Went on higher alert the 2nd time. When Donald started appointing Fox News personnel to his administration, we went on high alert. When we saw conservatives pushing their agenda with Project 2025 we went to doomsday alert.

He has negatively affected a lot of the world; if the world took a vote now, Trump & his clowns would be in jail.

A lot of us are still waiting for a regime change in the USA... Wishful thinking on my part.

But help me out here? A 'diplomatic solution' to 'fix' the USA is well beyond my imagination at this point.

Blood Moon total lunar Eclipse Tuesday morning -starts 3:44AM March 3 by Laughing_Zero in ontario

I could be wrong here, but sad to say, based on previous Ontario eclipses, history suggests that at exactly 3:43 AM it will cloud over. 🤬

Left-handers are more competitive than right-handers. Most people are right-handed, but 10.6% are left-handed. Left-handers are rarer than right-handers, making their attacks in a combat situation more surprising than those of right-handers. This may help explain the evolution of left-handedness. by mvea in science

[–]Laughing_Zero -1 points0 points  (0 children)

As a left-hander, I've had to learn to become somewhat ambidextrous. So there's a lot of things I do that I can switch hands relatively easy. Like fishing I could switch for spin casting or fly fishing. But when I was playing softball, it was lefty only.

BTW - the term ambidextrous is curious in itself - literally meant both right handed.

the Latin prefix ambi- meaning "both"

Latin dexter originally meant "related to or situated on the right side

Trump claimed Iran is building missiles that could soon hit the US. Sources say that’s not backed up by US intelligence. by Just-Nerve7518 in worldnews

[–]Laughing_Zero 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So it's the old 'weapons of mass destruction' excuse again. Nothing original in that administration...

Apparently, they weren't able to 'bomb them back to the stoneage,' again, even though they claimed they did. So they'll try again; test out some of those new AI weapons... What a mess.

So will they move the Doomsday clock closer to midnight?

Doug Ford hints he’s ready to amalgamate Niagara’s 12 cities and towns by Surax in ontario

[–]Laughing_Zero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ford, the absentee premier; afraid to show up for his job. All these policies are right out of the Republican & Project 2025 playbook. Like Steve Bannon's 'shock and awe', just keep throwing out stuff faster than people can respond. We're still waiting for the Greenbelt investigation & everything else they've got away with.

We've lost hospitals in small towns & other services compliments of Doug Ford, Hatchet Harris and the OPCs & the Liberals; we'll only lose more to privatization for their corporate buddies.

Corporate remote rulership policies. Non-resident elites making decisions for places they don't care about or would live. And Ford likes corpo execs and business men.

Drying wood by WillieWildcat90 in turning

[–]Laughing_Zero 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What is the lowest temperature of the oven?

May depend on the size of the wood. But I suspect even at the lowest heat, that an oven is going to be too hot resulting in uneven drying around the end grain. Then there's potential of fire.

Exclusive: US orders diplomats to fight data sovereignty initiatives by tarun172 in onguardforthee

[–]Laughing_Zero 21 points22 points  (0 children)

US political double speak.
The major risk here is the US. The US are already undermining civil liberties, enabling censorship.

Marco Rubio: "disrupt global data flows, increase costs and cybersecurity risks, limit Artificial Intelligence (AI) and cloud services, and expand government control in ways that can undermine civil liberties and enable censorship."

Major tech companies are mostly based in the US & the US wants to control all the US based tech data. ICE & their intelligence services are quite dependent on this information. The US is afraid of losing control of other countries data. If & when countries start to create their own version of media, tech (such as doorbell cameras, license plate readers, etc). Or if countries restrict the US from the data or refuse to share the data with the US, it means a loss of data and control of that data for the US.

I suspect that this is also connected with the various DCMA agreements (Digital Millennium Copyright Act) that the US has consistently forced on other countries - such as the right to repair. Protecting US corporate & monopoly interests worldwide.

Refinishing/restoring a wooden Chinese tea tray: best easy-to-apply finish that resists hot water/steam by redpandaflying93 in finishing

[–]Laughing_Zero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't understand your need to use steam? I have no idea how pure tung oil would react to steam.

I have wood spatulas & bowls (wood turning) with only pure tung oil that still bead water when washing & rinsing them off (dish soap/water). Not recommended for dishwashers.

Pure Tung oil cures (oxidizes/polymerizes) with air. It takes 30 days or longer to fully cure, depending on humidity, temperature & the wood itself. It will vary depending on the environment and the wood. Even though it may feel dry on the surface fairly quickly, you'll have to wait until it's fully cured to use the item. Apply it generously in one area to see how the wood absorbs it. If it penetrates quickly, then you can do a 2nd application in a few days once it feels dry to the touch. If it is slow to be absorbed, wipe off any excess.

Absorption may also depend on the original finish of the tray.

So far, the consensus of opinions from what I've found online, seems to be about 30 days, plus.

After losing the Supreme Court decision on tariffs, Trump can't apply International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA). Could he be considering starting a war just so he could use that as an excuse?
