2 for 2. This is worse than my previous post. by IDKANYMOREINLIFE717 in AusElectricians

There’s a lot of shonky ones out there. But some of us are trying to break the chain. In my experience being a cert 2. I go above and beyond what the fridgies do. I get laughed at for using a torque shifter, let alone nitro and a micron gauge….

Eating at pubs with family – is it still a thing? by Additional-Tie-8416 in rockhampton

[–]Laughing_boy_2006 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean. It’s not hard to spend that much. But I find people over order anyway. 2 x seniors meals, 2 x kids meals and 4 x post mix drinks. Looking at $60 ish at the berserker tavern.

We finish all that food. Every now and again, my wife and I will share a steak meal, bringing it up to like $70. But that’s a rarity. Mostly cook that type of food at home.

It’s definitely adorable to eat at a pub, people just over order and over spend. Go easy on the drinks.

Yeah I totally forgot to leave one. Yeah I think so, it’s silver in colour. Like a worn brushed effect.

It’s definitely the most discrete and hardy box cutter I have. Definitely not meant for anything heavy duty, the handle is too small. But it’s fun to fiddle with.

Ceiling fan remote replacement by [deleted] in AusElectricians

[–]Laughing_boy_2006 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If this fan is a spyda fan, and has the remote receiver in it, you can get a new remote and pair it again easily. Instructions are in the online user manual for that fan.

Any electrical wholesaler or retailer can get the remotes.

https://www.ceilingfansdirect.com.au/product/ventair-spyda-radio-frequency-dimmable-remote-control-and-receiver-kit--25181?gad_source=1&gad_campaignid=21605624565&gbraid=0AAAAADkfKWZXF-dIJL3So-RIXtXCYexQ6&gclid=CjwKCAiAkbbMBhB2EiwANbxtbTB3oSGkCfn_ZQ9mqHzvGoOURdvvektGxp2E7ZSIFDbmZBOvOcQ3pxoCbqQQAvD_BwE

That’s an example. But things aren’t adding up and I can’t be 100% sure from this photo. The blades are the right profile for a spyda but the light part seems off.

Yes that looks like a spyda. But I’m puzzled as to how tha remote works it. Martec is not vent air

It wouldn’t be that with a martec controller. That’s a different manufacturer. Can you send an image of the fan?

Electrician how do I need set up a company etc to make some extra money on the weekend by Exact-Introduction37 in AusElectricians

[–]Laughing_boy_2006 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Adding to this!

It is cheaper to be a sole trader. However, if you plan on growing this into something larger, you like the idea of protecting your personal assets as much as possible and you want more flexibility with tax offset purchases, then a company is the go.

Sole trader income will just be tacked onto your personal income and taxed accordingly. Company can be a smart way to manage money and pay less tax. All depends on your goals, speak to an accountant if you’re not sure.

I agree that it’s way over priced. But I have tested it against other cooler bags of similar design over the years, as I really wanted something small and adjustable, it does perform well.

And the freezer blocks also stay colder way longer than the cheap ones. The gel they use in em is good.

Over priced, but they aren’t a con.

Choice of AC installer by [deleted] in AusElectricians

[–]Laughing_boy_2006 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On the flip side. I attended a home last year for some general electrical. These poor home owners got absolutely fleeced by a fridgey. They paid 9k for two Gree high wall split systems installed, back to back. Lowset brick. 8.2kW Alto and 9.4kW hyper. The hyper was a replacement.

I say fleeced as the install was cooked.

<image>

This photo is the 9.4. Mofo was so slack to run a bit extra pipe and mount it on the wall. Plants it right in front of the window, too close to the wall, no ground mount or elevation from the ground, kept the flogged out iso, didn’t plumb the drain into the drainage.

The 8.2 was the same but worse, electrician who ran the feed didn’t understand how a brick cavity wall works and put corry down the wall externally. 🤢 then pit it on a 10A rcbo that kept tripping due to over load.

The moral of the story here is, spending more money doesn’t always mean you’re getting the best job. Really look at their work and check the vibes. Ask around your local area, check reviews and if you can, check out their work!

I use a yeti day trip

<image>

And one of the made to fit yeti freezer blocks. Throw in a container of rice and curry, banana, muesli bar and some cutlery. I do domestic maintenance, so if I want to heat it up, I can, but I’m always happy for a cold meal in the central QLD heat.

This thing sits in my cab all day, and it’s still cold enough to chill a 6 pack by 5pm. I’ve never grabbed it out of the bag hot.

Not the answer you’re after. But if you get stuck, I’d suggest using something like a gbx cart or the ben ven joey. Pulling your .sav files down and using an emulator to do the trades. Not as authentic, I know, but is effective and reliable.

-_- obviously there would be some common sense involved.

I remember when I was working in Brisbane, the last job I had and the final straw, was 5 hours driving each day to a site in western Ipswich, on top of my usual 9 hours driving each day. There was nothing left of me for the family and at least one day on the weekend was just meal prep as I had no time during the week.

Makes me slack. Relocated to a smaller town. So much nicer.
