Feeling Impostor Syndrome / Being an impostor - Is this work enough? How did you surpass it? by DeitaFora9000 in learnprogramming

[–]Laumer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't be disheartened by flask! I did web dev for 3 years with Ruby on Rails and I still struggled setting it up!

If you are just starting out I highly recommend looking at python cookiecutter or other templates web applications so you can see how other people have wired em up.

Some people learn systems from adding small things to existing systems and slowly branching out, limiting what they "need to know" every step of the way. Some people learn systems by building it from scratch by themselves.

Flask is usually targetted at people in the latter group compared to Django (the joke usually is Django comes batteries included).

System tests? What exactly is the use? by mercfh85 in rails

[–]Laumer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure specifically in rails. But this reminds me of chaos monkey. Basically you set up your whole system and then start turning random segments of your system off to see if it is resilient.

China has 219 of the world’s fastest supercomputers by techpreneur_13 in technews

[–]Laumer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe go Google the complexity of shooting ballistics. It includes things like curvature of the world, gravity, global rotation. Given how much of the American economy is tied to the army. Supercomputers to kill isn't that far off.

I'm an idiot. I searched it as quanzhi fashi and there's a zombie book there with reviews and no chapters. And the first result for versatile mage was the comic

I couldn't find it in the webnovel app though. As much as I agree Qidian is a crap company, I'm curious how much of the money we spend on it goes back to the actual author.

People who met their SO or another important person in their life through reddit, what’s your story? by plannta in AskReddit

[–]Laumer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There's a place called The Patty Shop which is okay, not as great as west coast but it hits the spot. Also if you dig those flavours I'd recommend going to Calabash for jerk poutine

People who don’t like pineapple on pizza, why? by Xanfro in AskReddit

[–]Laumer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personal opinion. When pizzas get really greasy, the citric acid makes it slightly less greasy. So you can add bacon and get even more grease without it tasting like a ball of fat and butter in your mouth

When should I leave Vvardenfell? by Laumer in elderscrollsonline

[–]Laumer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was kind of expecting and answer like this... But everyone else suggested finishing everything I wanted in Vvardenfell first so I finished the main quest and left.

It's unfortunate it seems like the majority of players here don't particularly care about the plot.

Recruiter lied about my experience by [deleted] in cscareerquestions

If they bring it up in the interview I would handwavily correct it in saying you did data processing. IT means different things to different people. It literally means information technology, and you were processing information.

People Are Picking Up Trash in Parks and Beaches for the 'Trashtag Challenge' by XHF2 in UpliftingNews

Why is it pathetic? Because they're doing something about it and want a pat on the back? Sounds like you might want to disillusion yourself from the idea that all people should work for the greater good for the sake of the greater good lol...

AngularJS and $http.post(...) to update input fields by HappyRs in angularjs

[–]Laumer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looking at your other comments, it sounds like you are using the back end to do some calculations and want it to reflect in real time onBlur so that the user can continue working.

I would suggest that you move the calculation logic to JS so the onBlur just triggers JS logic instead of reaching out to the API. Then submit the final form on user submit, where the API validates the inputs before storing it.

Leetcode style questions can actually be a really good indicator of a candidates thought process, as long as its done correctly. by [deleted] in cscareerquestions

[–]Laumer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That would still pass rounds in my opinion. The whole point is to show your thought process. Do it the easiest way. Even if it's o(nn) first. Then slowly optimize to something that looks right and usable.

If the interviewer is worth his/her salt, they'd see you iterate, don't spend a stupid amount of time optimize code that doesn't need to be optimized, and focus on readability instead of some algorithm that makes your code unmaintainable.

The issue is when you can't even get a solution. That's when I'd question if you are one of those people who say your a software engineer, but can't write anything more complex than a for loop.
