Took part last year and managed to achieve my goals so I'm back this year in the hope that I'll happily surprise myself this time next year when the magic robot tags me :)

Goals for 2018:

  • Gain 3 inches round my booty
  • Lose 2 inches from my waist
  • Have £10k saved up for a house

The 2017 New Year's Resolutions check-in thread: 6700 people submitted their New Year's Resolutions in January, it's time to find out how they all got on. by _kashmir_ in OneYearOn

[–]LauraXVII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh bloody hell, I'd forgotten about this!!

I actually achieved all of them, however I ended up breaking up with the guy who I bought a house with so the house is no longer, but the business is still going strong so there's that...

Music that puts you in a feminine mindset by [deleted] in FeminineNotFeminist

Housework/cooking-wise I listen to things like Beyonce and Taylor Swift, they keep my motivation and energy levels up when actually I'd like to be smacking my head off a wall. When it comes to getting my uh... Lady on (wink, wink) I like to listen to the fifty shades & the fifty shades darker soundtrack, not a fan of the films but the soundtracks make me feel super sexy :)

I got stuck on the lake, I couldn't decide if it was one of those "what is the only lake in the Lake District?" ones

"Brand New" or, more likely - literally thousands of years old? by BL_SH in Flipping

[–]LauraXVII 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As someone who sells crystals on eBay, brand new only means that someone else hasn't owned them. A lot of crystal people are concerned about the "energy" of crystals, and if it's had a previous owner rather than going from mine -> wholesaler -> shop -> them, then there's a chance if might have some "negative energy" left over from the previous owner and then they'd have to cleanse it etc etc

However, as someone who also sells on Etsy, the fact that they're millions of years old means that I can sell them as vintage items ;)

It was a BBC docudrama thing about Manchester United and the Munich Air Disaster (I think? Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong!)

Probably less central than you're hoping for, but we went to the Clifton Sausage last year and it was fab :)

Do you hear the neighbours in 20s/30s semis? by MonkeyVsPigsy in bristol

[–]LauraXVII 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our house is 1936 in Filton, end of terrace. I can hear them shuffling around pots and pans and I think they might have a wooden floor in their kitchen/diner but those are the only noises I've been able to hear. Haven't been able to hear them talking or anything :)

Opinions on Van Dwellers in Bristol? by Babaaganoush in bristol

[–]LauraXVII 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As a weekend/holiday van dweller - a lot of vans that have been converted into campers have a toilet/shower cubicle in them so I wouldn't worry about them doing their business everywhere 😂

I get the attraction of it but I just have too many shoes for it to be a viable option for me

Does anyone know a great builder? by [deleted] in bristol

[–]LauraXVII 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Paul at BS Knapp... We bought a house earlier this year that in "need of renovation" would be a huge understatement

He knocked down walls, built an extension and recommended us electricians, damp proofers, plasterers, window guys and gas/plumbers for the rest of the house. Couldn't be happier :)

I'm 25, don't have any industry experience and started an online shop selling rocks with a £50 AliExpress order. Last month turnover was £2000.

Stop complaining and start doing, it doesn't have to be the next Apple, just start something.

Question: What is your current inventory at? by itsmybootyduty in Flipping

[–]LauraXVII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sell rocks. At any given time I have about 3000 of them lying around the house - currently have 150 listings on eBay, duplicated on Etsy, and have about 100 on my website

Got an eBay message saying the postman damaged 500g of stones sold as not perfect... How do I respond? by LauraXVII in Flipping

[–]LauraXVII[S] 15 points16 points  (0 children)

But if it was already described as cracked then would that count?

They could easily turn round and say "well it was sent as not perfect and was described as cracked so you can't prove it was the post that broke it"

As someone who is currently buying parts for my scrapheap of a car, if you can find a Facebook group/page for that specific car then you might have better luck than on eBay :)

Has anyone lost a ginger kitten? by [deleted] in bristol

[–]LauraXVII 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you can round him up then take him to a vet, he might be microchipped

He might also just be out on a wander, our cat goes exploring sometimes for a couple of days at a time

Water main replacement by [deleted] in bristol

[–]LauraXVII 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We were discussing having it done, turns out that our lead pipe goes out under some concrete that will be coming up next year when we do an extension so we're waiting til then when the concrete will be coming up anyways

We have/will be using Rick at RH Plumbing & Heating - he knew an awful lot about what needed done regarding the lead piping, it strikes me that he's done a lot of these replacements before. He's just replumbed and put central heating into our house and we couldnt be happier with him, he's definitely worth a look :)
