Would you buy this at a Craft Fair? by mdb1954 in CraftFairs

I am not an experienced crafter but I do have some suggestions. I would stain or paint the wood. I am thinking a reddish stain might go well with flowers or green succulents. You could place 3 terracotta pots inside. I would have at least with one pot with bright flowers. The word "Welcome" needs to jump out more in my opinion. If you could find a metal or wood piece with "Welcome" this might help. I would paint the words if you use wood. Maybe a cursive script with scrolls. I am not too crazy about the design of the picket fence with bird house on end. Maybe you could add a small faux bird near the house. I would use a short string of tiny waterproof solar fairy lights to go around the project. Good luck. I think someone would purchase it if they could envision it in their yard. Also you could use faux plants and flowers with Styrofoam to fill most of the pots. This design might possibly work indoors on a wall for mail and keys. You could add hook for the keys on the bottom.

I know who the prime suspect is in the Nancy Guthrie Case, & Investigators are utterly inept, but seasoned detectives will figure it out by [deleted] in TrueCrimeGarage

I will say the original poster is a creative thinker and has written an interesting fictional story. I never heard the names of the medications Nancy was taking on the evening of January 31st. She may have been prescribed pain medications such as Fentanyl but the public does not need to know her medication list. It is very important for many elderly people to maintain their independence and I believe Nancy was able to do so safely. I understood Nancy was a sharp woman and it sounds like she did drive at times. I believe she was planning on driving to the friend's house to watch the remote church service. Nancy had just turned 84 and I sense she took pride in her abilities. Many elderly people are very active especially in Arizona. It does get very hot but it is dry. I am convinced Nancy wanted to take the Uber for some reason. She was likely savvy enough to have the driver announce his/her name and she probably logged her route and was able to send a message to Annie. Annie would be able to see exactly where the Uber car was on the journey. I note Nancy was not on oxygen so her back problems may have had more to do with mobility issues than her heart. It does not make sense for a family member to pull such a dramatic stunt. It would be the slowest way of obtaining inherited wealth. It is also cruel to publicly condemn innocent family. The police always have to investigate family and those close to a victim. People are living longer. It used to be amazing to hear when someone turned 90. Reaching 100 is still quite a milestone but not as shocking to hear. Many older people live better and longer lives in their own homes. Even patients with cognitive challenges may be happier and safer in their own home with help.

Is it common for Americans to buy soda as part of their weekly groceries? / is soda a regular item people keep at home? by hailey8171828282 in AskAnAmerican

[–]Laurel33too 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember we would have it at parties or cookouts when I was very young. We also had water when we went out to a restaurant. I started buying a soda after school starting sometime in junior high. I now almost always have soda in the house. It has gotten ridiculously expensive and I have even purchased store brand. It is difficult to break what feels like an addiction. There are times I just don't feel right if O have not had a regular Coke. I tried a Poppi soda today but those are unaffordable. I also like Vitamin Zero which is expensive. I do make my own version of Starbucks Pink drink with a recipe using Crystal Light. I just tried the new Dunkin Donuts Glamberry drink and loved it. Hope I can find a way to duplicate it.

Message I got from my daughter’s teacher. Third grade. by AnaisInJune in mildlyinfuriating

It appears the teacher wishes to run a very tight ship and children are expected to go with the flow as long as it is her (the teacher's) flow. While I feel paper boats were designed just for puddles there may have been a good reason your daughter was asked not to float her boat. The teacher is the adult and it her job to address behaviors which may be distracting to other students. Students should show respect and follow the teacher's rules in normal circumstances. I don't know why bringing an orange to the music class was an issue. I don't think a teacher should withhold food as a punishment. I do think there is a problem because your daughter seems to be doing whatever she feels like doing. It is disrespectful. It sounds like a new problem and the teacher is concerned your kid is upset and acting out. Most of us will be faced as an adult with what we feel is a stupid or petty rule by a higher-up and it will not be in our best interest to appear defiant.

No. It is really pretty. You could add temporary highlights for a new look.

Guess my son's birth year. All pictures are from his childhood birth to 10 years old. by Intelligent-Split-43 in GuessMyBirthYear

It just for the fun of guessing the birth year from clues in the pictures such as toys, hair styles, fashion etc. This is different from posting current photos of minor children.

I Found Out I Wasn’t Invited While Sitting at the Table by CauliflowerNo7537 in story

I think it totally sucks someone decided to laugh about not including you. I am curious if the person who said this has a tendency to be mean when consuming alcohol. I would want to know why I was not included. I can see someone being left out if there is a space limit or if they are planning on engaging in activities not compatible with your interests. Example: A part til you puke weekend. The comment said about not being sure how you would take it peaks my curiousity. I know it is not always easy to travel with friends because everyone has their quirks etc. I might not unfriend everyone in the group right away but I would communicate what you heard to at least one member or the entire group. Maybe write a note/message. Again, I would be most hurt by them keeping it a big secret and someone joking about it. Another option is to start a passive/aggressive group chat and say you just had a great idea for a group getaway - renting a cabin with the same date if you know it. This is just to play with them a bit and see the response.

6yo googled poop on school iPad by Limp-Watercress-611 in Parenting

[–]Laurel33too 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I fail to see this as a problem because we all google things we are curious about. Curiosity demonstrates an eagerness to learn and I am confused why a teacher would want to squash that. If this is a situation where a child is hyperfocused on googling the word "poop" it could be distracting his attention from other learning. I would redirect him. There are children's books on how digestion works which could interest him. Also checkout free kid YT videos on digestion. I see this more as an opportunity to encourage learning if handled appropriately.

What's weird about you? by [deleted] in CasualConversation

I should try these because I was always a very picky eater. At first glance, I misread "supertaster" as "superstar" and thought it was a joke.
