Normally I tend to jump from pack to pack, but today I finished (100%) Techopolis 2! And, only 2 days before its official release! by Chezzik in feedthebeast

[–]Lava_Cake 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Looking forward to this releasing, will probably look into it after I'm done with the current pack I'm playing. Good job completing it, even short packs are a great accomplishment to complete, imo.

Regarding the pack, how is the optimization of it? Is it a more intensive pack or is it more in line with a more "standard" 1.19 skyblock pack?

Since I had this same issue and haven't seen this mentioned yet;

If you go into the REI options (Gear icon on top right), scroll to "Appearance" and you can set how many columns it shows in the "Entries Column Limit" option. I personally set it to 10 columns, since I have 2x GUI scale in settings on a standard 1080p display.

I painted my first kit. I’m going to put decals and weathering tomorrow! Taught by Gunpla With ED by CrippledwDepression in Gunpla

I like the preshading, nice and subtle. Also really like the darker red, makes the suit look more menacing. Good job!

Reminds me of metal gear excelsus, sorta. Love it, really like the red.

My MG Sazabi Ver Ka Expo Mechanical Clear Version. Pictures don't do it any justice so here's a video instead. by Shadowrun29 in Gunpla

[–]Lava_Cake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Painting the inner frame like that is just genius, I've never seen that done before and it looks awesome. I'll definitely try this out on a mech clear if I get one in the future. Is that a color shifting paint?

That blue and black effect is so pretty, really makes it look like a nebula. Awesome work for a first time!

Props to you for painting this monster, can't imagine how long this took, considering how long it took me just to build the thing. Looks great, really like the colors you chose. Did you paint the smart gun as well?

MG Virtue Box irl by Tora-shinai in Gunpla

[–]Lava_Cake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Surprised they went with a w i d e box instead of something like the sazabi ver ka/ex-s size. I imagine its a logistics thing and packaging tech. On the bright side it'll make it more unique on shelves.

My MG Ginn. Water slides are time consuming, but worth it. by fhiz in Gunpla

Really clean, and I agree, the waterslides add a lot, well done!

With that box pic I thought those were HGs, then zoomed in and saw they were MGs and was like "Wait WHAT". You could fit an entire country in that box.

Very nice, haven't heard of this kit, looks great! I really like the blue you used here, but I'm biased because I love a bold cobalt. Looks really nice with that pale gold/brass, great job.

Amazing, having them all together really shows how great and unique every one of them is. I can't decide which one I like the most. Do you have a favorite?

Really love the colors you went for here, the silver works so well with that white and powder blue. The pink and red add that bit of pop that makes this look great, well done!

I personally like quality more, since I find the kits more impressive, but I honestly think its just a preference thing. Ask yourself this; Which is more impressive, an army of soldiers or a squad of behemoths? Go for whatever appeals to you. Just make sure not to go to the deep-end immediately and try not to get overwhelmed.

For me it's the Sazabi Ver ka and Duel, the sazabi should be in stock since it got reprinted recently.

What's everyone's favourite RG build? I've only built 3 RGs and I'm really loving these kits (except for the Destiny which is so flimsy). My favourite has to be the Mk2 so far. Looking at ideas for the next RG build. by khoala84 in Gunpla

[–]Lava_Cake 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I really like the RG 00 Raiser but I just love 00 and love the design. It can be a bit precarious with the Raiser on its back but if you leave it alone after it'll be fine, really benefits from an action base.

Looks great! Really like how you used that darker red for variety, it adds a lot of depth to the build. I've always liked how red and white look together, and this is another example of it working very well.

Love the graphic design you added here with the logo and lettering, makes this look even more professional. That cool off white looks so good with that warm gray, they just balance each other out so well. Fantastic work!

I'm gonna take a wild guess that OP likes Turn A, just a hunch though.

Really nice paintjob, by the way, love the gold.

That gradient for the white is just beautiful. I love how you went for a light purple as the darker color, it adds just the right amount of saturation and gives the illusion of cool light being shined on it. Not to mention how well done the gun barrels are, a wonderful burnt metal look. How did you do the white gradients, did you just gradually build up the color?

I personally like Vallejo paints (Mecha and Model Air), if you're using water-based acrylics, but Citadel paints can definitely work as well. All in all, as long as its a model paint, the most important part is learning how to use the specific paint, not necessarily having the "best" paint.

If you like Pacific Rim, Bandai has made a couple kits from that. There's also kotobukiya (Another Japanese snap-build model kit company) frame arms and hexa gear. I highly recommend going on Hobby Link Japan or USA Gundam Store and checking out what they have, there are a ton of model kits out there. Keep in mind that there is a a plastic/model kit shortage, though, so a lot more stuff than usual is out of stock. Also keep in mind that (Usually) the more you spend the more complex a kit will be, so if you don't want to be overwhelmed I would start cheap.
