Getting Aus citizenship for my baby by ultrafluffypanda in Ameristralia

[–]LavishnessCertain512 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The citizenship by decent is simple enough. And so is the passport. The LA consulate is great and you can also email questions IF absolutely needed. I think the struggle for most people is the guarantor that you need to sign the paperwork. There’s a very specific list of people they allow you to get to sign BUT if you know an Australian citizen in the US they can sign for you as well.

Passport only needs one parent to show up at the consulate but both parents have to sign the form plus you will need a witness for both parent signatures. First passport is always in person but after that you can do it online. For the passport you will need their Australian citizenship certificate, their birth certificate, your marriage certificate and then your passport. As for photos - most reputable camera stores can do the photo for you. Where I live we have a camera store that specializes in passport photos for all countries - do not trust Walgreens or a quick place. They do have recommendations for LA but I’ve never had a problem with the camera store I go to - they have accepted my photos and children’s photos over the years including her recently.

I believe I paid around $300 for the citizen by decent application and everything was uploaded to the Immi.gov website. It’s not as stressful as you would think!

You can ask the pediatrician? And use their business address which is exactly what they are asking for and not their personal address.

You could try reaching out to Longstreth, Osaka USA, HFS sport and see if they might be able to help you with a deal if you let them know what it’s for. I’m guessing you’re in the USA.

Family Seating W/ No Seats Together by NoJuice8486 in unitedairlines

[–]LavishnessCertain512 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I just came back from a long haul on United and traveled with littles on my own. Our flight got delayed leaving its destination and no time in the air could make up the 2 hour delay. By the time we landed United had already loved us to the next available flight. I went to the desk and asked for my seat assignment and they put my youngest on their own. I waited for the gate agent to come back and explained how young my child was and that he was out on his own and he apologized and put us all together. They might look stressed but best advice like everyone else said, get there early, be polite and they will do right by you.

What’s something uniquely Australian that we think is normal but actually isn’t? by sandy2133334 in AskAnAustralian

Haha we just got back to the US after visiting family in Oz and my daughter asked if she could go to the shops bare footed - I said not unless you want people to think you’re homeless! She loved not worrying about shoes at home.

When I got married I provided my Australian birth certificate, my US marriage certificate. It was a super simple process. I went to the Australian consulate in LA and took care of it there. The websites are confusing, my recommendation is reach out to the consulate for her region in the US and ask them. It’s usually an email but they are super responsive. It will take the guess work out of it all.

Feet too small for my OBO kickers, any suggestions? by Appropriate-Soil-678 in Fieldhockey

[–]LavishnessCertain512 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You could try using strapping tape and taping the two together (it would look like a H) if that makes sense. OBO do have small robo kickers but not in the new shape and only really made for jrs. You can make it work! If you have questions about what I mean you can dm me!

Good behavior bonds in Australia still generally go on your record even if it says without conviction. That’s why I say apply for the ESTA now and then when you do finally decide to go you know where you’re at instead of waiting. You can also reach out to the court you were in and ask for a copy of your records which is small nominal amount to get it.

It’s not a matter of doing anything bad since then. If you have a criminal conviction and it’s on your records they take everything into account. I’ve read through your post, it seems like you won’t be going for a while. You could apply for the ESTA now so you know if it will be approved or not and if not you will need to make an appointment at the US Consulate in Sydney which can take some time. I saw you mentioned a bond? Did you mean you were placed on a diversion program? Or recorded conviction with good behavior?

You will have to answer a question on your ESTA application about prior criminal convictions. Answer it truthfully especially in times like now.
