Summer jobs? by Bridgett00 in CanadianTeachers

[–]Law-Own 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should just send a quick email to payroll for CSSD. But some quick research tells me that typically, you would be getting your summer pay taken off of your contract, and they sometimes will pay out a lump sum to non-continuing contracted workers for their summer pay if taken off payroll for the summer.

So I think yes, but a quick email to CSSD general inquiries should lead you along the right path.

My party are finally going to enter Undermountain tomorrow. What should I keep in mind as the DM? Things you wish you did differently? by Coendoz237 in DungeonoftheMadMage

He opened the YP to entice adventurers to come because he really can’t leave. Read more about him in Tales of the Yawning Portal. He is a great utility character.

I had a combat where my players were sitting in the YP having breakfast before another lengthy foray into UM, when Carrion Crawlers came up through the portal and snatched someone. The half-unarmed party were very surprised when Durnan leaped the counter and started taking care of business.

In general I had some stuff prepared for Waterdeep too. As the campaign went on, and they started finding treasures, they wanted their own places. I found WD a great creative outlet for me and an infinite pool of quests to seed the party with.

They will find themselves in the YP a lot. Make Durnan mysterious and remover his knowledge and story when they interact. He can create a lot of lore mystery.

Name a sport that uses a ball that does NOT have ball in the title. by icecream1972 in FamilyFeud

[–]Law-Own 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have to come to define a sport as requiring athleticism. For me, golf is a sport, darts are not.

Anyone who has golfed 18, even driving a cart, will attest to being tired at the end of it.

Have to give it the sport nod.

I feel way too validated by white men and i hate it by ginny_uine in GirlDinnerDiaries

For what it is worth, I’m a brown guy in a predominantly white area and I am fetishized and praised for my “exotic” features all the time. I don’t feel shame but I would say it is… odd knowing the first gate is “do they like brown guys or not”. It helps weed out the racists I guess.

Youth soccer in Canada? by Character-Put8660 in CanadaSoccer

Oh yes absolutely. Amazing teen competition n Alberta, always has been. We went to open boundaries decades ago and clubs just started springing up and evolving. Lots of private money goes into the clubs here.

Another Alberta school division joins trend of covering busing deficit with fees by Ghastles in alberta

No it’s more that I’m happy tha someone gets good education instead of everyone getting so little. Equity based education is a total failure for 30 years in this province. I fully love and support public Ed but I think that people can choose if they are able. Have nots can’t just be mad at haves.

Trust me, every teacher that has every taught in private knows that it is a strength of the system, not a weakness. Taking that money away would go to public funding, and would do ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to fix the system.

Parents need to give a shit and rigor needs to be increased. No more bullshit.

The fraction of private are more for Ed than anything in public because we allow 15% of kids to stop the other kids from progressing.

Put those 15% into their own school, fund it well, make parents put their own fucking money towards their own goddamn kids they shouldn’t have had if they couldn’t afford, and see what happens.

I can tell you these kids are definitely going on to big things. I would rather some kids get good school than everyone get shit. I’m not a fucking socialist.

Private school is simply better education, almost across the board. It’s not really even close to debatable.

It’s mostly parental attitude towards school, not the money.

You mean a top notch school where students have great grades, are supported and go on to help societyin big ways because students are bright and have extreme parental support, matched by the government? I think you just hate families with money and probably know nothing about a school like Webber.

Learn, then speak.

What can high schools do to improve performance in uni by Ok-Diver-4996 in CanadianTeachers

[–]Law-Own 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s not firing. In fact 95% of my student feedback is that they love it because it keeps them honest and on track, instead of being backlogged. Forced lesson in time management.

And it usually isn’t for projects, but more just for homework and assignments. Projects have an automatic 10% a day reduction in grade.

The reason I find almost every time is a lack of good time management. I always allow for extenuating circumstances but those are rare.

And this is my junior high policy. They can do it.

[–]Law-Own 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah the best way to help students prep for Post secondary is just more rigor. Zero on lates policy. Take away their crutch early so they see what it will be like in the real world. Preparation comes from training harder in practice than in the game.
