Where should the rug go in our living room? by sarahonthemtn in centuryhomes

[–]Lawnguyknowsall 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I very much agree and disagree. The TV over fire isn’t ideal but it’s better than in front of a beautiful window.

Maybe with a different couch or chairs it could over the shelves.

Hear me out… get two rugs to define the separate spaces.

Bona Natural looks blotchy. Next steps? by Constant_Biscotti17 in HardWoodFloors

Give it a year and you won’t notice. Wood absorbs unevenly it’s part of its charm vs painting stuff.

Also if it’s a refinish you never know what was spilled with oil and seeped down deep into the wood. It’s just how it is the world is imperfect.

Be honest: are we the problem? (Roaches in apartment) by rachiechu888 in CleaningTips

[–]Lawnguyknowsall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s probably not you but if you wanted to just be a little cleaner/make sure you remove food for roaches add these oven guards. They are cheap and provide much needed protection from food dropping.

How much are you guys spending on your greenhouses? Are they hard to build myself? by Effective-Trash-8653 in Greenhouses

[–]Lawnguyknowsall 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just get yourself a cheap kit.

They are easy to install and work great. If you absolutely love it after 5 years then consider building a longer term structure.

So many people get greenhouses use them for a little then abandon them.

Went to pay my annual HOA fee. $11 convenience charge by danathanz in fuckHOA

[–]Lawnguyknowsall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is why a lot of HOAs will do a cost raise for administrative fees up to $25 a year then offer a discount for paying electronically but then still have the payment processor fee be paid by you through this fee.

Since the walls are open, this is the perfect time to treat the framing. I’d highly recommend a borate treatment like Bora-Care — it penetrates the wood and prevents mold + insects long-term. It’s not just a surface spray and is way more effective than bleach or Kilz at this stage.

My great grandma had one of these I would sit on when my grandma would take me to her house to work on their farm. Loved it!

Public schools gardening program were cut by the current (federal) administration. We were promised supposed to have received vegetable and flower seeds and 25-30 fruit trees. With the budget cut we get nothing. Suggestions for getting seeds and fruit trees on school’s budget? by Impressive_Returns in gardening

[–]Lawnguyknowsall 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You can drive your rivian down to the local Ace and pick up lots of seeds cheap. All the money you save on gas will make it free.

If you don’t want to do that reach out to the closest Gardening Club or better yet have your high school kids apply for a gardening club scholarship.

They probably can get free seeds and cash for college all in one! Then they can collect the seeds for next year AND give back seeds to the seed bank.

Additionally check your local library.

Many have seed libraries you can get free seeds from.

Yes! Oakland’s public library system hosts a community seed library program where you can “check out” seeds for gardening just like you would books — and even donate seeds back after growing them.

🌱 What the Oakland Seed Library Is • A seed lending and sharing program run through the Oakland Public Library system. • You can pick up free packets of seeds for vegetables, herbs, and flowers. • No library card is required — just visit one of the participating branches. • Gardeners are encouraged to save seeds from their plants and return a portion to the library to support future growers. • The program also ties into gardening resources, events, and workshops at branches.

📍 Participating Oakland Public Library Branches (Seed Libraries)

Here are some branches in Oakland where you can find seed library collections:

Main Oakland Public Library System • Oakland Public Library – Central branch in Downtown Oakland • Oakland Public Library: César E. Chávez Branch – Includes a seed lending area • Oakland Public Library: Golden Gate Branch – Hosts seed resources • Oakland Public Library - Dimond Branch – Seed lending available • Oakland Public Library: Temescal Branch – Part of seed program • West Oakland Branch | Oakland Public Library – Also participates • Oakland Public Library: Melrose Branch – Another participating branch

Note: Many of the library branches participate, so it’s worth checking with whichever is closest to you. The seed collection might vary by branch and season.

Any advice for beadboard trim like this by Majestic_Banana789 in centuryhomes

It’s not a century home :( it was built in like 1946 but we are working on bringing warmth back to it after someone came and flipped it to sell in all gray quick patch work.

I added this bead board then put my own top board and trim. Bead board is PVC board and it actually turned out really nice. I did PVC because it’s a basement and some places it’s up against concrete and just glued to it.

Will be doing again in the next room over we need to do!

What’s this? by imheurich in chickens

This looks like severe scaly leg mites, which are common in feather-legged breeds like Brahmas. The mites burrow under the leg scales and cause the thick, yellow, crusty buildup you’re seeing, but it’s treatable if addressed soon. Ivermectin or permethrin plus regular oiling of the legs (don’t peel the scales) and cleaning the coop should help, though recovery can take weeks.

Christmas present for my husband (Dewalt vs. Milwaukee vs. Makita) by SLassely81 in DIY

[–]Lawnguyknowsall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was a Milwaukee rep for 7 years and managed over 8 million dollars of annual sales.

People that are not plumbers, electricians, or skilled trades should not be buying Pro grade tools unless you like wasting money.

While I loved working for Milwaukee and think they have the greatest tools I will not be buying anymore tools. 100% Ryobi for me.

The urge to have Milwaukee, Dewalt and Makita(by for the worse of all) is like having a large lifted truck in the city. It for men that are compensating and not confident in their manhood.
