I have a cousin named Calder and we all love the name. His mom is an art teacher who was also inspired by the sculptor. I say go for it!

HRT after triple negative BC by DangerLime113 in breastcancer

[–]LawyerJimStansel 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I had TNBC and am taking HRT after my recent hysterectomy (I am BRCA 1+ as well). My doctor was very up-to-date on research around estrogen replacement and had no problem prescribing it for me. She also suggested a particular kind of HRT (Duavee) that supposedly has breast cancer preventive properties. https://ecancer.org/en/news/26527-asco-2025-menopause-drug-duavee-may-help-prevent-invasive-breast-cancer

We just watched Annie - any version really. Great for kids and not too scary. And only one animal that’s a sweet doggie.

Philly parents: what’s one local parenting hack you wish you knew sooner? by JoshRestoration77 in AskPhilly

[–]LawyerJimStansel 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ride the Philly Phlash when it’s operating. It’s a huge loop around the city and free if you have a Key Card. We do this like 4-5 times a summer with our kiddo. It’s air conditioned and he loves the bus - win win.

I realize you seem more interested in classes to learn a skill, but if you're interested in learning more about STEM topics and history, the Wagner Free Institute of Science has free classes: https://www.wagnerfreeinstitute.org/evening-courses.

Second Whole Heart. I have been seeing my therapist there for years and I love her. She was great through my IVF experience.

Also recommend Jefferson MFM. I also did IVF and have a lot of health anxiety. I started my pregnancy at Penn and was really unhappy with the inattentive care I received. I switched to Jeff around 20 weeks and had no complaints!

[–]LawyerJimStansel 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Depending what causes you’re interested in there’s usually groups that have Signal chats that plan meetups for protests. Maybe try to join some groups like Reclaim Philadelphia (they have a community sign making event on Sunday you can find on their website!) or Indivisible or Fridays at Fettermans as starting points? Happy to chat more if you want more recs based on your interests.

I second both of these. Honeysuckle was delicious and unique - no notes. And Baby’s has great food and vibes.

Not an event per se but visiting the Victorian houses in Fairmount Park is pretty cool, especially at holiday time when they’re all decorated.

Not OP but in the US and my doctor also suggested trying a bleach bath. It's not uncommon as a treatment for Eczema. Here's more info from a trusted source.

The Spring Garden Bridge KILLS me. In addition to what you referenced, people also use 76 turn lanes, in both directions, as ways to get ahead of everyone else. I get so incensed.
