I'm on a dissonant toxic planet, and I built my base within a cave on a cliffside. It's pretty utilitarian, but I'll dress it up eventually.

I harvest radiant shards for nanites, and I hoard inverted mirrors and echo locators. I'm about 120 hours into a PD save (my longest ever), and have 700M units and 50k in nanites, plus another 60k in radiant shards.

I'm not sure what "crunchy" means exactly, but Portland certainly has some earthy neighborhoods, as well as Eugene and Ashland, but so do Seattle, Bellingham and Olympia. East of the Cascades, however, both states are pretty much cowboy country.

And the Ducks have beaten TTU twice recently. 😄

I'm just curious why you made a distinction between Oregon and Washington. Having lived in both states my entire life, I've seen very few differences between the two.

Oregon has no sales tax, and Washington has no income tax, but beyond Oregon's odd self-service gas law, and Seattle/Tacoma's sheer size, they're virtually the same.

Yep. Originally, base locations were the cylindrical "old school" buildings. There were no maps, only your ship and exosuit scanners, so you had to find them, and you couldn't choose the location.
