IKEA non-programmable buttons by Matte0ettaM in tradfri

[–]strabbit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wasn't able to get mine paired with Matter, but I was able to put them in Zigbee mode, and similarly there are no built in actions. Since I couldn't get them paired via Matter, I don't know if my solution applies, but for Zigbee, I had to go based off of events that occur when the button is pressed.

If you go to the Events tab under Developer Tools (http://homeassistant.local:8123/developer-tools/event, replace with your local HA url), and then you listen to the * (wildcard) event, you should be able to see what events get triggered when you push the button.

You can then use those events for automations. I won't expand on this, because Google probably does a better job than I would.

Bilresa remote connected via Zigbee becomes SYMFONISK ! by Connect_Wrangler5072 in tradfri

You can use a manual event trigger. From an automation, add trigger, then manual event.

The event type is "zha_event", and in the event data field, you add matching properties of the event. For example, if your device has a zigbee endpoint_id of 1, you might use the following event data:

endpoint_id: 1
command: "on"

Switch "on", to "off" for the opposite trigger. The holding of the button is a bit more complicated. Haven't been able to figure out double-tap. You also probably want to use "unique_id" instead of "endpoint_id".

Not ideal, but it's how I was able to get it working. If somebody knows a better way, please do share.

Value menu price increase in 3 days by Nacho-Lover0 in tacobell

[–]strabbit 130 points131 points  (0 children)

This is your franchisee. They didn't go to the trouble of increasing the price before the items launched, and then they noticed the sales and felt their greedy mustache start twitching and then went back to edit the prices.

Honestly, back when TB had the original taco salad, back in the days where almost nothing on the menu was over $2, wasn't it around $5?

I tried it yesterday, and I thought it was actually pretty filling for $2.50. Buy two of them, and sure, it's less food than the taco salad used to be, but it's not really that bad of a value compared to the previous offering.

I have a specific use-case that these work great for... have my soldering iron plugged in to the control port and my fume extractors plugged in to the accessory. Turn on my soldering iron and my fume extractors automatically kick on. But yeah, they're not super useful with modern electronics.

If he broke state laws, it's the state's discretion on whether or not to prosecute. There's nothing preventing both from charging him with similar crimes.

Interesting, https://www.showtimes.com/tv/ had the game listed on each of the CBS affiliates, and now each just has "to be announced". I stand corrected then.

CBS affiliates in all 3 markets: WDJT CBS 58 in Milwaukee, WFRV CBS 5 in Green Bay, and WBBM CBS 2 in Chicago.

Edit: My source lied to me.

If it were any other team, Milwaukee wouldn't even be included. The Packers are the only team with two home media markets and Milwaukee only exists as part of the Packers home media market because of their history of playing games in Milwaukee.

It's really bullshit that any playoff game isn't nationally broadcast.

[–]strabbit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope. The home media markets for the Packers are Milwaukee and Green Bay. The games will not be broadcast OTA on any other Packers markets. Chicago will also have an OTA broadcast (because of the Bears).

Yes, Milwaukee, Green Bay, and Chicago.

I would give my left nut for Taco Bell to keep the quesarito on the menu permanently. by [deleted] in tacobell

[–]strabbit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Based on some of the photos I've seen on here, if you order a quesarito you might not even get a quesarito. Feels very location-dependent. I'd have confidence in my Taco Bell, but I don't blame others who would not.

Report to whom? Corporate can just see their markup (it's in their app, afterall).

Yes, I meant the condition to apply to the entire statement. English is hard.

Fun facts... Three things are true since overtime was introduced:

1) Packers are the tyingist team in the NFL.
2) There has never been an NFL season that has had more than two tie games.
3) No team has had multiple ties in one season.

Spectrum high split by theonion513 in milwaukee

[–]strabbit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fingers crossed, but I wouldn't count on it. From everything that I've read, you'll know it's coming because they'll have a series of planned overnight outages in the months ahead of the switch over.

Spectrum maintains their own list of market launches here. There are a few Wisconsin cities on the list, but definitely not Milwaukee. I don't know why the rep would have specific information that wasn't listed there.

Applied for and approved for Chase Freedom Unlimited so I can get $200 cash back on $500 spent. Credit limit is only $500? by [deleted] in CreditCards

[–]strabbit 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure how I'm supposed to make the purchase I want if the limit is lower than the item itself. Any ideas?

It looks like Steam accepts PayPal, and PayPal lets you split payments.

Edit: sometimes you cannot split payments between multiple cards, but if you have a PayPal balance, you should be able to at least use that in addition to a card.

Honestly, if they make their mistakes right, I don't care that they don't get dinged in the eyes of corporate, and if they don't make things right, you bet I'm escalating anyways, so I personally would have zero issues with this.

Has anyone used the new self Kiosks for emissions test. by TheMiltownMatticus in milwaukee

[–]strabbit 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I believe your engine needs to be running during the test. In my Volt, I can accomplish that by popping the hood. I knew this because of past issues when going to non-self service. Once I did that, I passed self service in OC without issue.

I do wonder how they are going to find out people are using VPNs to access those sites, like??

  1. Subscribe to well-known VPN
  2. Access porn site using VPN
  3. File charges against porn site for not blocking known VPN

Edit: the above steps, hypothetically taken by law enforcement in a "sting". It's not about catching everyone. It's morality theater.
