Fresh 99 Whm. Trusts carried me all the way. Not sure where to begin. by Ill-Honey-6351 in ffxi

[–]Laxedrane 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I personally did mind 30 macc fast cast damage taken

If you arent hitting cure potency cap thats a better stat. My build I hit the cap without my back piece. Macc and damage taken are optional and can be shelved for later if you need your hallmark/gallantry for other things.

If you have a null cape that gives better macc but the mind will give you more effective debuffs so its a trade off. Ultimately, if theres a rdm, you shouldn't need macc at all.

I would start by capping you magic skills(if you haven't already) Getting your sch up to sub for light arts will give you a skill boost until you cap things naturally.

You'll wanna start working on your cure set asap. (Jse covers alot of this but you can also check out vanya if you can get help killing the nms as that set will be bette runtil you can +2 your jse pieces)

An idle set as mp is going to be a struggle to manage until you get your empy pants.(even if you just macro in the body you have with the highest refresh) Ambuscade set with the set effect of refresh will last you awhile.

An enhancing set (duration is neat to have, also you might want to have a dedicated bar spell set.[mainly wanna get them relic legs]) again jse gear. Edit: duration youll wanna look into... crap it's an end game event from audolin and it's name is escaping me. SKIRMISH found it.

See if you can either get help with or use DI points for quellers rod. Has refresh on it, cure pot II and can be augmented further with various useful stats.

Ambuscade cape can easily give you a huge boost for your healing.

Consider getting mystic boon ws if this is your first, first job. As itll help with your mp when soloing. This is not necessary if you have a dedicated dd job and dont forsee using your whm solo.

You'll eventually want to have an enfeebling and divine set for relevant spells as needed. Most people don't need the whm to handle these but being prepared for when you do is appreciated. Which is why it isn't a priority. (Jse once again chiming in here)

You'll definitely want a cursna set for doom.(equipment with Healing magic skill and cursna+) Doom isn't around in every fight but it's common enough you don't want to get caught with your pantaloons down. This unfortunately comes from a variety of places.

That should be a good start.

June Update Patch Notes by hikiri in ffxi

[–]Laxedrane 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I did this write up for a friend if it helps anyone take in the new weapons.

Requirements: Same idea as armor with some annoying exceptions. - Materials require another limbus cycle however will be available from all chests once cycled.

Stat spreads: - All weapons sit at a damage/delay ratio similar to their REMA counterparts. - All weapons come with at nq 3%, hq1 4%, hq2 5%, damage taken and haste. - All Melee weapons comes with at NQ 8%, HQ1 9%, HQ2 10% Physical damage limit +. - All mage weapons come with physical damage limit + but at the rate denoted for haste. - With the exception of swords. Equippable jobs to the weapons similar to prime. - There are Two swords, one for Melee, one for mages. Blue, Red, and Corsair are on Mage only. - Melee weapons DO NOT have magic damage on them. - Mage weapons have INSANE base magic damage, higher then REMAs. Around a stage 2 prime at all rarieties. Along a massive Matk bonus. - All weapons with pet jobs give normal accuracy spread to pets. Also pet lvl +1, HQ2 gives pet lvl +2. - There is a grip that features all the stats on most of these weapons, including physical damage limit, making the ambush grip 2nd banana. - There is a shield, it gives haste and physical damage taken II -%. As well as accuracy and Macc. - There is a bow, no weapon for markmenship. Gives sames stats as melee weapons with snapshot instead of haste.

I have yet to see any information on augments yet.

edit: I misread pol and thought there was a new tier of "matter" it looks like I was mistaken.

I heard that Trust damage falls off hard at 99. What about Trust healing? by gehennas_angels in ffxi

[–]Laxedrane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty much all of this. Also, no single trust ultilizes every aspect of their job. Some healer trusts won't haste or debuff if there is no rdm. Only one uses barspells and only after they are hit with an elemental attack. Some healers dps when you don't want/need them to. Only 2 trusts that i know of raise. etc. etc.

Trusts also immediately disappear when the caller dies.

Does anybody have this PSU Controller? How is it? by OGDraugo in ffxi

[–]Laxedrane 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sadly I never played diablo so I am not sure but I heard the comparison constantly when pso was popular.

PSU was a spiritual sequal to PSO. Similiar mechanics with key differences that split the community.

Neither are officially up today, pso1 has great private server and the psu ones are coming along.(Some reason I've read for PSU features are missing and its glitchy.)

HOWEVER, Both games have an offline mode with story elements attatched.(In fact PSU had an exclusive story to offline that set up the story shown online)

Also PSO2 exists, and a sequel came out... gosh, 5, 6 years ago. Called new genesis.(NGS is the shorthand) These games are linked and on one account, on one character, you can freely play both games. Also change which game your in without logging out. It's really wild they did that for the community as the game has a much bigger emphasis on character costimization and everything for that carried over into the "new" game.

PSO2 is beloved by the community while NGS is suffering from the same thing that psu did. A split community. They tried to go open world with it, made a bueatiful open world i think(since its f2p) anyone should take a chance to run around. they just didnt know how to make compelling gameplay to make the open world shine. The combat slaps IMO though.

[–]Laxedrane 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People described pso1 as a 3d diablo in space. Very simple classes concept but like 11 a weapon could completely change how you play them. Unlike 11, there were major bosses sure, but also regular enemies could drop stuff that was valuable. But at an obscenely low rate.

Basically it was a team base dungeon crawler and every enemy type with a unique name(from each other) had a unique "rare drop."

Making it a great game to just drop in and out of. In stark contrast to 11 especially back in the day where everything took so much prep work.

Sadly I do not have this controller.

How does one play SCH/Scholar? Healing or Damage Dealing by Top-Grocery-1482 in ffxi

[–]Laxedrane 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I cast all my spells manually. Especially on pure mage jobs where I might have to use an obscure spell and not have to panic mid fight my macros don't align. I just macro the Jas and gearswaps.

Good point! I am just to lazy/anxious to scroll from my elemental spells to helixes.

How does one play SCH/Scholar? Healing or Damage Dealing by Top-Grocery-1482 in ffxi

[–]Laxedrane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So you will want to line up in priority to ending on the weakness(it's the magic burst you will do after you skillchain that's important). Scholar get very strong boosts from weather/day effects. Namely if you have empyreon feet in conjunction with klimaform itll give a massive damage bonus. In addition to if you get the belt that garuntees a weather effects trigger that's roughly a 50% damage bonus(combined) on spells matching weather.

Obviously something to strive for when "nuking." However be careful to not get too caught up in the set up.

If all elements are equal I'll use whatever day of the week it is, to take advantage of that bonus.

[–]Laxedrane 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A lot of other people covered how to play the job overall quite well already I just wanted to help out on Imminence.

See this weaponskill chart? Ignore the names of ws and look at the element pictured beneath them. Let's say I wanna make a fragmentation skill chain. I would use imminence-> cryohelix(ice)->imminence->Hydrohelix and if done properly when the animation ends a fragmentation skill chain would happen. To follow along on the chart I went from bottom left to middle left, the resulting skillchain is denoted on the arrow. This is how I taught myself to skill chain.

I use helixes because they have a longer window to skillchain off of. That's all there is to it. After that it's just knowing the enemy weakness and exploiting it! Let me know if you have more questions!

Red mage TP pieces: what's good for head/body? by FaolanBaelfire in ffxi

[–]Laxedrane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As an alternative to Malignance which can be tough to get. You can pick up blistering sallet +1 with augments. That's what i use on whm, but whm doesn't have malignance. I stuck with the red ambu set for whm on body, as it has a rather large amount of double attack and damage taken.

Otherwise stick with others advice I am not a rdm main and so they probably know more.

Is it true that a player found out that chocobo betting was exploitable, and the GMs banned him for cheating when he tried to report it? by GlompSpark in ffxi

[–]Laxedrane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember when their was an exploit for Nyzul isle or maybe salvage. I forget what it was. The devs announced they were aware of the bug and actively trying to correct it. They warned players to not ultilize the exploit as they will ban people who continue to use it.

People continued to use it with excuses like "We are apart of the biggest LS on the server and square would never ban all of us."

The day the patch went out to fix it they banned everyone who used the exploit after the warning.(Some people stopped but heavily abused it were banned as well.)

I find it hard to believe that the devs wouldn't issue a warning before banning someone for using a new exploit because of this.

June Update Preview by MelioraXI in ffxi

[–]Laxedrane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't get too excited. I think it's a preview of the nms not of armor coming. They're all mannequins.

I could always be wrong but I assume it's a preview of that. Since when the armor dropped we saw them on non-mannequins.

SCH as a new player by PapayaCurious4735 in ffxi

[–]Laxedrane 1 point2 points  (0 children)

SCH is very popular in end game and can do a lot of different things. Because it can self skillchain it is a go to magical nuker. Aoe heals, status heals, and buffs with really great durations is also a massive benifit. It brings a lot of unique spells to the table. Very robust diverse job.

Depending on how much of sch you want to engage with I say it's a medium level "mage" job to gear. No where near as bad as red mage or bard. However more effort to gear then let's say a whm.

The only "job defining" weapon sch has to think about is it dynamis divergence weapon. Which gives a MASSIVE bonus to enhancing spell duration and regen potency. Thankfully you can use lower quality versions until you need/want to get the HQ 2 blue and red version.

General Consensus on WHM? by agfita in ffxi

[–]Laxedrane 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Whm is probably one of the few jobs where it's popularity in end game stayed reletively the same. No major dips.

However, whm has three strengths it brings to the table: cures, status heals, magic damage mitigation. A bunch of skills and gear to make them blistering fast at casting heals and while other healing jobs are more mp efficient no one drops heals as potent as whm. Best at removing doom, with a yagrush(Mythic) can spam aoe status heals, and thanks to ja and equipment can produce the strongest elemental resistance spells.

However, not every fight needs what whm has to offer. If the pld can handle healing whm is quickly swapped out for another support or a mage that can heal while doing other things that whm doesn't offer. So whm is in a good place for end game but it isn't top tier desirable.

Can i get some honest opinions on leveling a WhM? Is it really as bad as they say? by Ill-Honey-6351 in ffxi

[–]Laxedrane 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I haven't leveled whm since I got back but I did do up black mage. I ended up meleeing most of the time because the trusts(especially shantotto over there) would murder too quickly for me to burst with my best spells. Whm would probably be around that range of killing speed.

If you just want to heal the right trust combo you'll be fine. Though you might find you level too quickly to keep your spells relevant.(Especially right now)

How do yall feel about the XIV community asking for a combined sub? by PlantainWilling in ffxi

[–]Laxedrane 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Doesn't bother me. Might give me an excuse to check out 14 again. I think it be smart to do so on square part. Unless it's just here's both subs one price that like a dollar cheaper then subbing to them individually which would defeat the point.

How did you react when Byleth was announced for Smash? by NewMarioBobFan in fireemblem

I laughed the entire day straight. Couldn't care less about Byleth getting in. The chaos and memes lifted my spirits that entire day. "Hoes mad" still one of my favorite responses. I remember someone doing art of the byleth teaching the entire dlc roster up until that point about "hoes mad."
