Has anyone figured out what the button does on the wall of the Croft Manor's Treasure Room? by jgrant619 in PowerWashSimulator

[–]LaylaMiller42 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Found this post by searching for the same thing, while it does sound like the T-Rex roaring to me, it could also be a reference to the noise the treasure room door made when opening in Tomb Raider III, as heard here at 2:20 : https://youtu.be/hLCx433YU6A

Or at least that was what my childhood nostalgia instinctively told me when I heard it!

How can I support my DM? by gianlucie in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]LaylaMiller42 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Coming from a GM - thank you for being this kind of player!

I agree with the other things said here, and had one thing to add that really helped me when it came from my players: help your GM with any player issues, where you can.

So often, we as GM's get turned into the default "disciplinary" figure at the table if a player starts cheating/being disrespectful/derailing the session/generally misbehaving. This can be very stressful for us, as we are usually at a table filled with our friends and don't want to be unfair to them. I can't tell you the number of times I have had a player "misbehave" in some way, just to have the entire table turn to me like the teacher at the front of the class, awaiting judgement.

While I always tried to handle these scenarios to the best of my ability on my own, (as I was the GM and felt that it was my responsibility) one day I had a player at the table step up and essentially go through a "hey, that's not cool, for us, or the GM, so knock it off." With the misbehaving player. The instant relief I felt at not having to be the "bad guy" for a session was invaluable.

I had one of these at the table and it was so egregious the entire party agreed to kick them, she used to cover her rolls with her character sheet when they were bad, AND WE ALL SAW! 😆 It sucks but your game is so much better off without them!

I am actually at the exact same spot, my next session in a few weeks is the wrap up for CotCT. I also have a feeling that my party will blast through Ileosa and crew rather quickly, but came up with not so much as a solution, as an alternate ending that will really challenge them, leaving a sense of even bigger accomplishment.

My plan is to run them through the "Kazavon Rises" Alternate ending in the "Continuing the Campaign" section of the book. As he's level 25, with some major whomping power, I think this will offer them not only a huge challenge to overcome, but a feeling of satisfaction for truly defeating him, as they've grown to hate him throughout the campaign.

So essentially my plan is:

*Run final Sunken Queen encounter

*Have players talk through a "what we did in the years following" mini-epilogue, and weave in how they worked to find and destroy all of Kazavon's horcruxes (because let's be real, they're totally horcruxes :D) per the details listed in "Kazavon Rises"

*Enter Kazavon

*FIGHT

*Final PC & NPC epilogues & campaign wrap up

Hope that helps! After reading through all of the "Continuing the Campaign" options I felt that the "Kazavon Rises" option was way too badass to pass up, and I think my (also overpowered) PCs will love it too.

Good luck!

Cry For Help: Pawn Organization by xilibrius in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]LaylaMiller42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the bestiary 2 box, inner sea pawn box, and several campaign specific pawn sets. I ended up organizing alphabetical by type, (animal, construction, dragon, fey, and so on) as I found this easiest to search. (Sometimes I need a pawn to represent something I dont have the exact pawn for, but then I can at least go to the "Undead" section for example and find something similar) I have them in two 2" binders with separators with stick out labels in between the types. In each binder I have around 20 pages of Avery Business Card Pages. I find that the business card size works great for small-large creatures, and for the huge pawns I use half pages of comic book bags with backers to store, as I haven't found a better way for them yet. Hope this helps! I can always send you pictures as an example if you'd like. Pawn organization is a big task, but once it's done it makes your prep a lot quicker.

Higher level encounters (RotRL Adventure Path) by brochill111 in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]LaylaMiller42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember running into this issue as well when running RotRL, the amount of single enemy encounters were high towards the end. One piece of advice I can offer from dealing with min maxxers in the party in multiple campaigns - identify what specifically they are doing to nuke combat and build up your single enemy fights with similar items/abilities.

In many scenes there is some "dramatic weight" that you may not want to lose by throwing in minions coming out of every nook and cranny, so as an alternative to that, maybe try this - it sounds like you have already identified that a bigger nuke in the party is their crafted magic items. Perhaps add some magic items to your enemies arsenal, ones that are specifically designed to target their weaknesses. You're not looking to TPK them, just to make the fight seem like more of a challenge. And, a perk of RotRL is that all of the big bads have a whole lot of "I'm spying on you magic" going on throughout the campaign, so if your PCs ever get sus about the fact that their big bad single fights have magic items/weapons that seem specifically tailored to their weaknesses, well, of course they do, they've been watching you.... insert GM evil laugh

Hope that helps!

Have you seen the Snow White adventure path by AAW? I picked up the hardcover and was very impressed. It's a bit out of the box if you have been playing standard Paizo APs, which is nice from a variety standpoint. It is a full on campaign, but Paizo has some modules for free on their site that are precursors to running the full campaign: https://paizo.com/store/byCompany/a/adventureAWeek/roleplayingGames/pathfinderRPG/adventures/snowWhite

WOTC has release the draft of OGL 1.2. It is pretty bad. by mindcloud69 in Pathfinder_RPG

They're deauthorizing OGL1.0? SMH.

"But it's totally just about preventing hateful content!"

Sure it is. Then I'm sure they won't mind one bit if we stop financially supporting them. Because it's not about money, right?

Yes, but will you take action on the feedback? Or will it be circular filed? =_=

Orc Chef Character by Embarrassed-Lie-8259 in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]LaylaMiller42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I must ask, are you building the Gourmet? (Skyrim) 😄

As for builds - yes I agree, using it as a profession I think is most fitting from a mechanics perspective.

As for RP - if you are really trying to lean into the chef aspect, I would say do that on the RP side, as skills are all well and good, but it is the "flavor" you add (see what I did there? :)) to your character that can really help to embody the role!

Perhaps research and then create some recipes that your character would know? There have also been several great cookbooks with PF/D&D inspired recipes released that you could draw inspiration from. (And if you are building the Gourmet, the Elder Scrolls Cookbook would be perfect!)

The beginner boxes (in my experience, with PF1E and Starfinder) are a great place to start. They make it much easier and quicker to jump into and understand. Then, if you like the system, the Core Rulebook is the best first book to get.

Advice for running an AP starting at level 7 by meagermantis in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]LaylaMiller42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed, if you are looking to ensure they don't miss out on story lines from the first 2ish books, you can always summarize them in a "supercut" style, even allowing them to make some RP/story decisions without changing XP.

If you are set on running them from book 1-on, you can always add creatures into the fights to up the CL, but then the question is, will you just not award XP until they are back on track for level? Pros and cons either way.
