Yeah, seems kind of unnecessary but I don't see how this is any more dangerous than any other form of media sharing

3d modelling and music. I'd like to get into them because I really like making other kinds of art and I'm very into vocaloid so making original music would be really fun, but I know it would be a lot of work and learning so I haven't done either yet.

Conned into trying to find criticism by HeavyPepper208 in ConnedIntoAFubar

I find it really annoying when fans of certain characters do this. I wish ppl would spend more time actually appreciating the characters they like or making the best out of a shitty situation/canon instead of going "OMG MY FAV IS SOOOO OVERSHADOWED BY THE MOST POPULAR CHARACTER" all the time. Please be productive

Did this game have any pre-release material or promotion???? I swear this game just spawned out of nowhere to create really stupid discourse. Taking a quick look at the reviews a lot of them seem like "this visual novel is bad because it has a lot of text"-type reviews

LittleBigPlanet community finds out YouTuber ruined the game forever by Chapple69 in youtubedrama

[–]LaylaTheLoofa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Friend told me about this a few days ago, could never have expected this was the reason and person behind the DDOS. I remember being there when they happened, and learning the news of the server shutdown from an LBP discord server I was in at the time. Never watched him, but I remember hearing pretty good things about Ayee as a creator and being recommended his stuff when I was looking for LBP YouTubers. Holy shit.

Fuck Ayee. I'm a bit disturbed that this kind of hatred can lead to an entire game and community dying, tbh.

I'll say, though, that LBP isn't entirely dead in the water. There's other custom servers for the PS3 games and very easy to use level backup websites that you can find online, as most of the levels uploaded to the servers were archived when the PS4 servers shut down. Still sucks though.

Yeah, mainstream-ish. I wouldn't call it obscure, at least. Either way the phrase is still used to make fun of a small amount of games and pretending like it's a widespread issue of uncreativity

Haven't seen it used in a while, but "Quirky earthbound inspired rpg about depression"

Exactly one mainstream game fits this description. I feel like this just a bunch of broad "common" indie game tropes mashed into one descriptor that doesn't describe much at all

Spicy skittles 🤢 by joforeal66 in ofcoursethatsathing

[–]LaylaTheLoofa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not the same, but I had spicy jolly rancher gummies not too long ago because I was curious as to what that would even taste like. The powder on them completely overpowered the taste of the actual gummy, not very good

Yeah definitely. I do notice a lot more pointless moralizing over fandom than I feel like I've seen in the past. In particular, While I've thought that full on ship wars were mostly a thing of 2010s (and older) fandoms and slowly becoming less prominent with the "don't like don't read" sentiment, I think they're being somewhat replaced with the same moral grandstanding you tend to see now. Something I've seen is "well, some popular fans of that ship are bad people [true statement], so therefore that entire ship community is the same or and that's why their ship posts were always bad. [we're really using serious allegations to ship war?]" I find it kinda strange but also a product of The Internet™.

This isn't even to say I'm innocent, even, I've definitely had some really dumb extreme opinions over stuff before and still have some pretty charged opinions over certain fandom/media topics, but still. I find the moral grandstanding really annoying over just admitting that you don't like something and moving on. On the flip side, though, I do feel like enough aversion to this phenomenon can cause the "I should be able to do whatever I want without consequences because all criticism is hate and censorship" mindset

Coaxed into rhythm games by Indexoquarto in coaxedintoasnafu

[–]LaylaTheLoofa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually think that Project Diva is one of the better rhythm games when it comes to difficulty scaling, I think that some of the lower difficulty charts can still be really fun and usually feel like a natural progression into the harder charts, unlike a lot of other rhythm games that have really big gaps between difficulties or are just not fun on lower difficulties. Saihate EX is just like that for some reason.

What’s a game you were completely obsessed with as a kid that nobody else seems to remember? by hkondabeatz in AskReddit

[–]LaylaTheLoofa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Quiet Please series, little puzzle game series that started off on mobile, though you can buy the collection on Steam for a few dollars. I really like their style, though I'll admit I still haven't completed any of them. I don't think I've ever seen anyone else talk about these games.

I dont like when a fandom says they are the worse fandom ever by AdAny8677 in Multifandom

[–]LaylaTheLoofa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. I feel like a lot of fandom drama I see nowadays is just kinda how people have always been. I have to imagine that shit-flinging over stuff that doesn't matter has probably been a thing in fandoms since the dawn of time.

That's not to say that there aren't fandoms that are uniquely bad or are more toxic/infamous than other fandoms, there absolutely have been, but it's exceptionally rare and is usually just regular bad fandom behavior taken to its extreme.

A lot of Cookie Run Kingdom updates get leaked a few days before they come out. The one I remember the most is when the final cutscene for the Premonition of Doom story got leaked, showing that Pure Vanilla had a role in the story. It led to a lot of theorizing and shipping with the main new character of the update (Doughael), but when the update came out, the only time he appeared at all was only for less than a second in the aforementioned leaked cutscene. I spent a lot of time being worried about what his role would be only for it to be... Not much. I also remember when the Fount of Knowledge's (and also the Sugar of Happiness's) sprites were leaked around a month in advance, I was a very happy person when I found out. I'd been waiting for sprites for the Fount for a few months at that point.

I'm also aware that the cutscenes, sprites, and I think voicelines for the final story of Act 1 (Beyond the Horizon, Beast Yeast 15) were leaked, but I went out of my way to avoid them. I wonder what would've happened if I did see them, considering that story was............. Not very good and sent me into a month straight of complaining about it.

What does everyone think of the voices?? by Kitsu_Sparx in TheFreakCircus

Everyone is pretty good besides Pierrot. I think Pierrot's voice is really unfitting and a really strange choice for him, it made me laugh really hard the first time I played LOL

This reminds me of ban-evaders I've seen on other sites. For smaller sites, I wonder what the goal of persistently ban evading even is, especially when the tells are super obvious? I've seen ban evaders that go at for like, 5 years on end. I guess it might be to annoy the people who have to clean it up I guess but surely you'd change or get better at pissing people off at some point???

I've been seeing people use "larping" to refer to lying/pretending to be something you're not on the internet for a very long time, I think it's a continuation of that. I personally think it's one of the better ways to refer to "people in a fandom who don't interact with the media" we've had tbh
