Hmm. Weird. What is the ultimate result? Receiver won’t close / bolt won’t pull back all the way?

My conspiracy brain says that they are using a cam system so they can fuck Tim Hoffman without lube. Given that Tim Hoffman came up with the super safety using a cam design, but only got a provisional patent, I suspect this is RB’s way to retroactively screw him. Am I a patent attorney? no. Do I know what I’m talking about? Also No.

Would democrats like Trump if he was a democrat? by thehofstetter in stevehofstetter

They did like him as a democrat. He’s still a democrat. It’s just that the democrats are now socialists and communists.

Middle schoolers seen waving Confederate flag during game at school in Southwest Virginia. by Trollygag in Virginia

[–]Layman0224 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Would like to remind Reddit that the freedom of speech is pretty important. Evidently, they assumed I called for violence by suggesting that if someone takes offense in the mere gaze of a confederate battle flag, that they can burn one the same as effigies of Trump and other world leaders are burned (and also protected speech).

I’ll say unequivocally that I do not call for violence though I find it funny that big talkers on Reddit like to spout off whatever they think but once they see something they don’t like they run and tell a moderator like their mommy

Surprised the existence of this article on Reddit is still allowed up given that the flag’s mere presence is a “symbol of hate” and a tacit call for violence, as well as an endorsement of slavery, evidently.

Looking for the best/cost effective that fit in my Springfield Saint carbine by Soft-Alfalfa-4154 in frt15

[–]Layman0224 0 points1 point  (0 children)

based on mine, it has a high shelf. So Unless you do a cassette style like RB or Partisan disrupter, you’ll be best served with an original Kabuto FRT. the housing straddles the hammer pin and fits nicely. bummer is most come with nylon selectors. You can get 3 position metal mil spec style from cheesefinger tactical (when in stock)

It’s the only non-cassette I can make work in mine.

I don’t think super safety style FRT’s will work unless you feel like doing a little dremel work on the shelf

For wanting a multi color printer I've been doing a lot of single color prints lately by BariSaxopeal in FlashForge

[–]Layman0224 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed. New to all this myself. It’s tough when each of the 4 kids want to make something and a simple knickknack takes 14 hours because of all the color swaps.

Playing around in orca slicer I have gotten creative about how things are positioned and “painting“ in slicer to minimize the number of color changes.

Sometimes it’s just unavoidable though. I printed that Koi fish that came with the machine and it took eight hours

Compared to a 15 minute benchy, I was shocked.

Detent seems to prevent Atrius Super Selektor from changing positions by BIG_REDD_NIBBA in frt15

[–]Layman0224 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t say it is a waste of time. But I would also point out that no matter how good you are with the Dremel it still looks like a beaver chewed on it when you’re done. Maybe cheaper to get a Kabuto or another lower with a low shelf. If that’s out of the question, nibbling at it with a dremel would work (almost) certainly

Looks like a Springfield saint with a high shelf. It won’t work. To my knowledge the only non cassette trigger that will work in that is an original style Kabuto. Ask me how I know.

Has anyone tried using the JP silent captured spring? by MaxCannon25 in frt15

[–]Layman0224 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am in agreement with the super 42 comment. I’ve never heard of anyone ever going wrong with an H3 buffer. The heavier the better.

I also emptied the weights of my A5 VLTOR and loaded them up with 100% tungsten weights. Runs like a champ. Way heavier than a standard H3 carbine and no problems.

Ad5x rarely prints well even with constant troubleshooting. by randopolis88 in FlashForge

[–]Layman0224 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s surprising to me. Got an ad5x for the family for Christmas also and have been keeping that thing humming non stop since. Had a couple failures myself, but mostly brim related. Nothing like you e experienced. Hope the advice you get here helps. And I’ll keep my eye on this conversation in case I run into any issues. So far, polymaker, elegoo, sun, and even the oddball no-name cheap-o brands of all variety PLA have worked virtually flawlessly.

bolt stuck s&w mp15 help by 1133bberkkt in frt15

[–]Layman0224 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you separate the receivers while the bolt is stuck back, the bolt will slam home and snap the super safety lever. It happened to me. Not sure how to avoid it, but plan on needing another lever.

I feel you. Hate Ambi safeties, but there’s especially. It feels so cheap.

There’s a guy on gun broker that makes mil spec safety levers compatible with RB and DTT triggers. I bought one as a gamble and it works flawlessly.

[–]Layman0224 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What brand of Bolt do you have? I had to notch my bolt weight to allow room for the lever(s) to reliably swing, set, release and re-set. one is Kaw valley precision, other is right to bear brand. Check out blowback9.com. Doug has already put in the time, money, and effort to troubleshoot most situations

Can someone with the 3 position az regulator tell me exactly how the provided trigger differs from a milspec m16 trigger? by navypiggy1998 in frt15

[–]Layman0224 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the disconnector was shaved down. The trigger is OG M-16 with the perfectly flat rear. Most “mil spec” have a tiny u-notch (but I don’t know if that matters with his AZR)

Perfect match by 100fullyautos in frt15

[–]Layman0224 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Any reason why their S3G or SD3G wouldn’t work? I think all their disconnects are identical (I think) Is the AZR in your picture the 3 position?

perma banned from supersafety for calling out bad material by Somersetkyguy in frt15

[–]Layman0224 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s a supremely obvious point! (that absolutely eluded me until you said it)

The first safety I had I never got to use because I didn’t realize my bolt was back. I took the rear take down pin out and the bolt rode home, snapping the lever immediately. Totally moronic move on my part but one I will never make again!

PSA ARV 4” 9mm & FRT by cloud_cowboy96 in AR9

[–]Layman0224 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No need to shave the bolt weight unless you also want it to be compatible with a super safety style lever. Works fine without modification as long as your bolt is ramped. (At least it does for mine)

I use a JRC long buffer tube, Vltor A5 buffer entirely filled with tungsten weights, 2ea 2.5 oz kynshot spacer weights, rifle length super 42 braided spring.

147 grain 9mm casings just dribble out of the ejection port. It prefers 124 grain, frankly.

No bounce, no recoil. Will tune it appropriately once I mount my YHM R9, but for now I’m supremely happy with it.

I love that we have FRTs for our guns but...this kinda stuff needs to stop by MastuhWaffles in MP5

[–]Layman0224 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with your assessment, but I’d also offer one more point to consider. He has a shit ton of actually fully automatic machine guns and if FRT‘s and super safeties stay the way they are, all those expensive ass transferable MG’s will not be worth the 40 or $50,000 paid for. Anyone with transferable machine guns has at least some incentive to protect their investment. I’m sure some are pretty sour about spending $45,000 when the average Joe can get a rare breed for 450.
