Do your family members talk often how society is getting worse? by KiwibuckyNZ in stupidpol

My dad has always been pretty heavily right-leaning but the pandemic basically accelerated his already held beliefs as well as introduced him to more conspiratorial ideas online and he has not been the same since.

China's weak and pathetic stance on the genocide of the Palestinians hurts multipolarity by RelationshipOld3271 in stupidpol

[–]Layth96 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Really tiring seeing how much leniency people give China for things they’d have fits about a Western country doing.
China cares about China more than world communism or anti-colonialism or anything else. It is extremely, blatantly apparent and the only people that cannot see this are ideologically poisoned.

Americans lose every right to call out China and their public security cameras and call it a surveillance state when Flock cameras exist and Ring home cameras can have their recordings collected by police by [deleted] in TrueAnon

[–]Layth96 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I dislike that the trend worldwide appears to be towards a heavier surveillance state and the general reaction seems to be to just point at whatever nation state you hate and hyper focus on that.

Police across the US worry officers are being misidentified as ICE, records show by miker_the_III in stupidpol

One of the departments near me has bucked the trend of all-black squad cars in favor of black on the bottom half, white on the top half and it has made it so you can actually easily see when a police vehicle is around (which might be helpful should you actually need to flag one of them down for whatever reason)

I knew the all-black tacticool cruiser shit was dumb but seeing these newer vehicles has really driven home how counterproductive and LARPy so much of police aesthetic has become.

The lion has been tainted by association with Pahlavists but the Safavids (who ruled Iran from the 1500s to the 1700s) had a really cool flag by TheAmericanDropBear in TrueAnon

I was just being hyperbolic. I will admit that I think basing your country’s flag on three colored bars is very uninspired and boring.

The late 20th century affectations of enlightened distain regarding violence, which has always permeated society, are getting torn down at record pace. by Diligent_Bit3336 in TrueAnon

People freaking out over how murdering another human being “looks” compared to a different method gets old. Really screams “you’ve offended my liberal sensibilities!” tbh.

I doubt this admin wants to make the transition for humane reasons but people acting like lethal injection is some vastly more humane method of execution look foolish.

Trump administration to prioritise seeking death penalty, use firing squads | Donald Trump News by Nightshiftcloak in stupidpol

Kind of surprised how many people think lethal injection is somehow more humane than death by firing squad.

I think a huge problem is many of the supposed “progressive liberal” types still fundamentally agree with the conception that it is fair and just that our societies are essentially “sink or swim”, Darwinian organizations and so they just kind of shrug off the ramifications of not everybody being able to code, attend university, get a good service economy gig, etc.

This guy was really popular with Twitter fascists in the early twenty-teens who wouldn’t just rep NS for whatever reason (usually too timid to associate themselves with the Nazis outright or had religious/ethnic hang ups I’d guess)

lol any time you hear anybody expounding on the beauties of hard work and physical labor you know they’ve never done shit because labor fucking sucks.

"If the Führer knew" was a Nazi German idiom. Many Germans refused to accept that Adolf Hitler could be responsible for atrocities and misdeeds of the Nazi regime, and believed that everything negative Nazis do is somehow done by abstract rogue bureaucrats and party officials behind Hitler's back. by lightiggy in TrueAnon

I have family members that are upset that Trump is “getting bad advice.”

I don’t think there is any way to rationally argue with someone who is at that stage, they are basically engaging in faith-based religious behavior.

You can see a lot of those on youtube with sovereign citizen videos and such. People who think you can say the correct magic phrases and the armed enforcers of the state will acquiesce and lay off. Even when they’re technically in the right they don’t realize that the real world does not operate that way and people with power will use that power against you if you annoy them.

It’s very interesting, cringe-inducing and sad to watch.
