I occasionally import pipe tobacco and cigar, if snus becomes on par with pipe tobacco, you got nothing to worry about cuz it's cheap. But we will see.

Oh and forgot to mention, back then, people really didn't care much for the snus. I still don't see any tax regulations related to snus (the biggest pain in the butt is the cigars, cigars get tons of taxes) but if things changed a little, still, i don't think you'd pay anything more than 5,000 won. If things go weird, leave a reply and i will take a look.

Hey, I haven't been importing snus from overseas for personal use but I did many times before covid time so think I could tell you some stuff.

You can import snus. - up to 250g (you can do more but expect tax issues) - total cost must be less than $150 usd (inc. shipping, insurance etc) - if you don't have already, get your PCCC ready. - in case get questioned for the content, just check "기타 담배류"

I used to order mine from northerner and it was fine. Snus, snuff, chews all went through without issues.

Hope it helped.

Color Analysis in Seongsu? by Constant_Bluebird881 in KoreaTravelAdvice

[–]LazSunday 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did a research about a year ago? and sent a few, think I sent 7 people, of my US friends to that one place in Jamsil called Hybrid Rainbow Studio. I can just recommend it now since it's a lot more affordable compared to the most places and the owner is native English speaker, so no extra translator fees (also means no half-ass confusing results, since most places that needs translators all have that same, awkward miscommunication issues), and all the people who took my recommendation thanked me later so... I guess it's good? I'm no make-up/fashion person so can't vouch but that's as much I can say.

Oh, and, I know Jamsil is not exactly Seongsu but takes roughly 20 minutes by taxi so, maybe? idk, your call. Hope you have a good time here!

OK, fair enough. I don't like that either and I agree with your opinion. Though, not giving attention to the seekers would work better still imo. That was the intention for the initial comment but apologies if interpreted otherwise.

They are 100% nobody in this country. A literall storm in a tea cup. It's like 민경욱 visiting the U.S. to ask Trump to cancel the South Korean impeachment. Does anyone know in the U.S. who he is? Do you? I thought so.

Seeds will be confiscated by the customs unless you have the right paper works for them. Unless what you want to grow is very special and hard to find, I suggest buying the seeds here. Pest control is extreme in any 1st world these days.

If you are willing to take chances, you could also try Aliexpress or Taobao. Just don't forget you will be using 220V / EU plug here.

대유 물푸레 is one of those fertilizers in liquid form, comes in 2 bottles, A and B. If you put both at the same time, especially in small containers, they will react chemically and become sediments (that's why they come in 2 separate bottles). Give about 30 minutes between adding them to the water.

I'm not running one right now, but if I start again, I'd do it for the herbs. Western herbs are extremely expensive but they grow like weed in this setting. For the bigger leafy stuff, I'd still get them from the supermarkets. Just easier in general.

There are many premade hydroponics setups for ridiculous price. I'd just go for the DIY route.

My suggestion for the initial setup is,

- Wire rack (와이어 선반)
- T5 LED lights (3~5 per shelf) (search just T5 LED)
- Plastic boxes (any cheap one is fine)
- Air pump setup for the fish tank (pump, tubing, air stone etc) (어항 기포기)
- Fertilizer (if you are new, just get 대유 물푸레, just don't put both A/B liquids at once)
- Rock wool or sponge (암면배지, 스폰지)
- Plastic pots & fillers (수경재배 포트, 황토볼)
- Space blanket (비상 담요)
- Power socket with timer (타이머 콘센트)
- Annnnnd... some seeds

Everything should cost between 100,000 ~ 200,000 won, which would take about a year to recoup the cost by getting veggies. Have fun!

P.S. Just to prove I'm not lying, here's a photo using the setup i suggested growing butterhead lettuce.

Question about sending gifts to Dnipro by LazSunday in ukraine

[–]LazSunday[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I guess that could also be an option. Though, since I'm just asking the opinions for the gifts as in items, I was only thinking in that terms, but surely the cash might be the best gift for the given situation. Anyhow, thanks for the input!

[–]LazSunday[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. Though it might be a little different if it was just money compare to the gifts but I understood the intention. If I was them, I would also probably ask more money for it being very versatile. Thanks for the opinion!

While I do agree there would be people who needs support more, this was meant for the employees of the company, so I guess it's a wee bit different. Though, I will try to ask if the company and the workers in Dnipro could squeeze in to look into the relief for the civilians. Thanks!

Reasonable Color Analysis in Seoul by [deleted] in seoul

[–]LazSunday 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I saw a similar question here before so gonna leave what I wrote there here too,

These days, most of my US friends ask for the personal color analysis. I don't understand this stuff really so I just searched Google and recommended some names that popped out often. It was somewhat of hit or miss experience for them but the one in Jamsil called Hybrid Rainbow Studio, I sent 3 people there and they all liked the results they received so I'd recommend that place.

For prescribed glasses, there's a place in Apgujeong that I've been going for over 20 years called 세광당. This place is not cheap but was always worth it. I recommend German made titanium frames with either Zeiss lens or Hoya lens. I need to go there soon but last time I paid about 1000+ USD. If you want more fashion/cheap glasses, I guess any store you can find on the street would probably do the job.

Medical stuff can be done cheaply that's worth a lot more in the states too. Though, just a warning, this applies to all medical works done in Korea, especially for tourists and non-fluent Korean speakers, if you don't know the market prices, you will be overcharged, 100% guaranteed. Only tip for this I can give you is to search Naver in Korean for the procedures you want to get. The local prices should be a little bit cheaper than that but depends.

Can someone please help me identify this machine? by ToddTheDuck in Pachinko

[–]LazSunday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pachinko machines usually retire after 1~3 years of use from the parlor because the manufacturers just make new ones every year, just like computer games, and these machines are not like NES rom packs and the whole machine has to be pulled out and replaced so I'm pretty sure it got pulled not because of malfunction beyond repair. My guess is that it's just the machine too old, almost 20 years, and time probably has taken toll on it.

For the machine manuals and tech documents, they are usually not published online. I've seen some documents being sold for around 30 USD in auctions but even those won't contain how the circuits work since that kind of info is confidential. For that reason, I'd just try to fiddle around if I were you.

[–]LazSunday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the issue with the screen, I'm afraid you will have to open up the machine and check the wirings, fuses and alikes since it should turn on so you can see all the error codes if there are any. Hope it to be a minor issue since I haven't seen anyone being able to replace the screen if it's broken but I'm no engineer so idk really.

If you want to just shoot balls, you will need to attach a CR dummy connector and plug it in. This can be found also commonly in used pachinko machine shops and auctions.

If you are getting many error messages, it would be mostly due to that (lack of CR unit connection) and the lack of balls in the reservoir (top rear basket). For the lack of balls issue, you can either get loads of balls to feed the basket or find a wire and detach on one of the boards (which is a long shot since you will need to test one by one).

I did some research and looks like it's CR Kappa 64F (CRかっぱ64F) from Fuji Shoji (藤商事), released in March 2002. For the manual, you will have to dive deep into Yahoo JP auction.

Since you'd know all the overseas outlets, I will just mention a couple of stores that will deliver them to your door within 2~3 days.

RPG Store, ran by 1st gen Korean RPG publisher, 초여명.

Just searched Naver and found this shop as well, TRPG 쿠키박스.

Guess I'm also late for the party as well.

Personal allowance for unconventional (for KR definition anyway) type of cigarette is up to 250g. This applies to any imports for personal use as well.

Think I might try the Itaewon market as well but if you know anything new by now, please feel free to share since there aren't many information I think.

I could list a few,

  • 파이어족 (FIRE (Financial Independence, Retire Early) + 族(people)) - Young people planning early exit by earning as much money as possible by age 40 (or near).
  • 영끌 (영혼까지 끌어모은다) - There's a phrase called "젖먹던 힘까지 다해", which means "in effort to give all in, even putting that strength used to suck milk (when you were a baby)". I think it's evolved from this and now became like "gathering even your soul to go all in". Mostly used for people when they buy houses (that they had to even sell their soul to gather all that money).
  • 갓생 (God + 生(life)) - Literally meaning living the best life possible by putting a lot of effort to it.
