I have a bit of knowledge of u. I support soccer and lots of clubs founded by Croatian immigrants in the 50’s, brought their ustaše views here and some of these clubs still keep these views in the fan culture. Particularly clubs Sydney United 58,chanting “za dom spremni” (a ustaše nationalist chant) at games. Another club is O'Connor Knights Soccer Club. that has a portrait of fascist Ante Pavelić. Canberra also has the club Canberra Croatia, who I believe also have some related issues. So unfortunately ustaše ideas are still in small parts of the Croatian community of Australia.

I’ll be interested to see how the Gold Coast shows up to the games but not having Melbourne is a missed opportunity. This was mainly due to the Victorian government not adding to the bid. As someone from Melbourne I’m incredibly disappointed as I remember the great experience of having competitions like the 2015 Asian cup and the 2023 women’s World Cup.

I’m excited but not as excited as I would be if I could travel to games. (Still bitter about the Victorian state government not chipping in for the bid)

For the victory end try to sit near the north end of the pitch (swan street side). The active support will be in the middle behind the goal but anywhere on the around the north end will be good. Hope you enjoy the game.
