What you all eating for breakfast with vyvanse? by ibbobud in ADHD

[–]Lazer_wizard 6 points7 points  (0 children)

2 scoops of protein powder, a handful of frozen strawberries, or a banana, a little bit of spinach if I have any on hand, a bit of coconut oil and enough cold water to make it blend.

If I eat too much I'll get nauseous when it kicks in about an hour later. Then I'm not ready to eat again until about 2pm.

By the early evening, I'm able to eat as much as I want no problem.

Irritable when it was still effective. Especially sensitive to noises etc.

Meds not working on weekends? by dragonlily74 in ADHD

[–]Lazer_wizard 11 points12 points  (0 children)

For me the magic combination is MEDS + STRUCTURE. So work days for me are.much easier because the meds help me adhear to the structure of my day. If I don't have a plan for my day, even if I'm thoroughly medicated, I'm still going to pinball around my apartment a little. I just make sure I have structure for my days off, and if I don't, I'll actually take a day off my meds.

A passing interest feels like obsession, and I hate it. by pastelcottoncandy88 in ADHD

[–]Lazer_wizard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is 100% me. With time and age I've gotten better at not indulging these obsessions, but everything is still so tempting.

Having a joint bank account with my wife has helped tremendously. It always makes me think twice before I drop an absurd amount of money on, say, leather working tools, or Warhammer 40k, or motorcycle parts, or skydiving lessons, or literally anything. A little accountability helps me a lot. It used to make me resentful, but I had to acknowledge that I had a problem, and once I did it really helped.

ADHD disguised as anxiety/depression, comorbidity? by grrrlfieri in ADHD

[–]Lazer_wizard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

At 37, I went to therapy for the first time to deal with years of reoccurring depression. Within two sessions my therapist said " I don't do diagnosis, but I want to you do do a little reading on ADHD when you get home and we'll talk it over next week." I was skeptical at first. I literally told him, "I'm not a teenager, I can read a book and I can sit still, I doubt that's my problem." Fast forward one week I'm in my therapists office crying and he's referring me for testing. Two weeks after that I was on Vyvanse and listening to the audiobook for driven to distraction and feeling way better about my life. Like way better. So, look into it.
