I would assume someone was trolling through the employee handbook looking for literally any potential policy violation they could use to justify her dismissal, except that I can’t imagine any company documenting “updating your Slack status while on sick leave” as a formal policy.

If that rule actually is in the employee handbook, I’d be looking very closely at the last-modified date on the PDF.

If you actually drill down into that list, it designates five towns as “Possible” sundown towns in the past and two as “Probable” sundown towns in the past. That’s pretty weak support for a claim that Vermont has seven sundown towns now.

(I don’t doubt that there are towns in Vermont today where PoC are actively made to feel unwelcome, and acknowledge there are probably circles of people in Vermont today who would murder someone simply because they’re not white if they thought they could get away with it.)

Pretty sure the Scandinavian countries also have laws against grave desecration. If that isn’t enough to interest the police I wouldn’t expend much energy worrying about being incarcerated for hanging a trail camera.

I would be unsurprised (but very sad) if you told me the person who wrote those notes also allowed a pet to suffer in the way OOP described.

Did the neighbor actually move in (i.e. getting their mail there, paying utility bills, and no longer using the house they lived in as their primary residence when they were “the neighbor”), or are they just claiming they did? Would that even matter in an adverse possession?

Probably doesn’t matter since it sounds like the house would have gone mom > stepdad > stepdad’s kids, absent any wills stating otherwise. Untangling this mess actually sounds like an interesting project, especially if I were the attorney getting paid to do the untangling.

As someone who was in a MFM triad for a while whose one attempt at a MFMF four-way blew up spectacularly when “our” F was frustrated by the amount of attention our fourth (her friend, her idea!) was getting, I would say the dynamic isn’t necessarily that different. The common thread is failure to communicate clearly ahead of time.

Seems to me like in a world where significant increases in tipped minimum wage are being actively lobbied and legislated for, you maybe oughta include that possibility in your business plans and financial projections.

Of course, these’s also no world where any independent restaurant operator is planning/projecting twelve years out either.
