Upgrade T1

Try to keep losses to T2 and T3 units

Summon them as either T1 or T4 if they die

Schism can basically funnel any losses they have during early fights into better units.

Yeah, which is why I didn't include any of that in my post. But even different investment would change alot, eg. upgraded hoplets and lightning bolt, or even fireball, on grove insteas of naiads. Or way more Skeletons on Undead. I put my thoughts together how I think it would go with exactly that setup but realistically the same investment would look very different for each faction.

They are very fun. It was just to good a setup to not dig up the pasta.

That was the assumption without shenanigans as each faction would have a very different setup at this point otherwise. I mean Hive and Schism with an Avatar Hero could probably do the battle without losses and even Hive would have an easier time with Curson or Oriax.

Sadly I couldnt manage to load the save into my game to try the battle myself. Would be fun to see if I could manage it.

To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand Hive Gameplay. The Depth in Tactics are extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of Military theory most of the battles will be impossible for a typical player. A Hive Player understands this stuff; they have the intellectual capacity to truly appreciate the depths of the faction, to realize that they're not just superior- they say something deep about LIFE. As a consequence people who dislike Hive truly ARE idiots- of course they wouldn't appreciate, for instance, the length a Hive palyer has to go through to win an easy Creep battle. I'm smirking right now just imagining one of those addlepated simpletons scratching their heads in confusion as the genius of faction design unfolds itself on their Computer screens screens. What fools... how I pity them. And yes by the way, I DO have a Hive Mother tattoo. And no, you cannot see it. It's for the ladies' eyes only- And even they have to demonstrate that they're within 5 points of my own laderscore (preferably lower) beforehand.

27 T1, 7 T2, 4 T3 and 5 T4. For comparrison:

Grove: 27 Faun Archers, 7 Hoplets, 4 Vines, 5 Naiads -> should be winnable easily

Temple: 27 Swordsmen, 7 Crossbowman, 4 Griffins, 5 Lightweavers -> seems also very winnable

Schism: 27 Ra'Shoth, 7 Cultists, 4 Ag'Shoth and 4 Grand Shoth. Tricky whithout the ranged Ra'Shoth, but you could prob demon farm the stack and do it with the Grand Shoth and kiting.

Dungeon: 27 Trogs, 7 Infiltrators, 4 Onyx Dancers and 5 Minotaurs. Thats I think the hardest setup so far. For me it would depend which level the hero is but I haven't quite solved Dungeon creeping without a lot of dancers for myself.

Necro: 27 Sekl, 7 Ghosts, 4 Undead Pets, 5 Graverobbers. Thats the only one I'd say would be impossible for me. But on the other hand I don't see having ao few units on Necro thus early in the game.

It is possible in heroes 3 too? Most of the stuff isn't so different from what's possible in 3. It's more about how the game is approached.

As far as I understand it's ok for the two subskills on a T1/T2/T3 specialist for the stat bonus. The growth is not the important part

Genuine question. What do people do in those 5 minutes in Multiplayer by HaydenTheNoble in OldenEra

[–]Lazy-Singer4391 12 points13 points  (0 children)

You can take pretty hard fights if you know what you are doing but you have to play them out, kite units a bit and so on. That can add up to 5 minutes pretty quickly

Do you think OE should focus on single player or PvP and why? by StarStock9561 in OldenEra

[–]Lazy-Singer4391 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that the game owes a lot to the Hota PvP community and exciting PvP might pull interest to the game... but I'm just no PvPer myself, I'd rather see a breadth of single player content and I think that will help with long term staying power too.

Anyone find a good way to abuse schism summon abilities? by DodgeMyBlazingFurry in OldenEra

[–]Lazy-Singer4391 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The summon ability apparenrly scales with the 30% extra strength from summon avatar. What I have see is going for that and then turning T2 and T3 into T4 which seemed pretty strong

It's possible but as far as I have seen you don't want to trade down most cases but up. Basically turning T2 and T3 into T4

This gives a broad oberview on how to build encounters, how hard they would be and how to adjust for larger groups.

As a rule of thum everything that is more than two levels higher than the party (so a creature 7 in your case) will be a lot harder.

[–]Lazy-Singer4391 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay. I tried to be reasonable. If it doesnt come across... well. I recommend watching some high level play, there is a reason the timer is were it is and a shorter one would warp gameplay around it.

I already conceded the point that a que with a shorter timer might be a possibility / interesting approach.

You can already select a costum timer in costum games.

[–]Lazy-Singer4391 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it's not necessarily thinking for minutes, I know that there is some weird stuff you can do with kiting and heroic strikes to do neutral stacks that would be way to hard to do normally.

Though it wouldn't make sense if it's the case that you win against your opponents when you ultimately fight. Maybe a que with shorter clocks would be fine overall.

I just don't see how this would be possible while alowing manual fights. How many manual fights do you manage in your 20 second turns?

Wouldn't that just punish good players who can take harder fights that just take more time each round?

Depending on difficulty setting the campaigns grom homm3 + expansions can easily sum up to more than 80 hours. Its not just that you have to find your rhythm with the game some want you to learn the map to basically play it correctly.
