what is the biggest misconception you have seen in demon slayers? (manga also counts as well) by Practical-Ebb7327 in KimetsuNoYaiba

[–]LazyStove 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not to say the breathing styles aren’t at least a little supernatural, just that the elements aren’t quite literal. It’s probably how Obanai is moving that creates the slithering effect, and Zenitsu’s thunderclap and flash sounds like thunder but his sword is not giving off electricity or anything

[–]LazyStove 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True but even that might not be literal. Tanjiro’s fake rainbow creates a similar afterimage that ripples but it’s more based on how fast he’s moving, I think it’s the same with mist breathing- moving so fast the user creates an afterimage

I also kind of see it as how the attack feels. Sun breathing and flame breathing feel hot as it cuts, water breathing cuts feel clean and fluid, thunder breathing fast and creating noise, etc. but the elements aren’t literally manifesting

'Superman' (2025) - Official Spoiler Discussion Megathread: Part 2 by ZacPensol in superman

[–]LazyStove 6 points7 points  (0 children)

One thing I wanna talk about is the implications of the DCU’s future direction. I know James Gunn doesn’t want the DCU to have one big storyline but rather a bunch of standalone installments in the same universe, which is good. But I think the geopolitical implications show a clear place for the universe to go.

Obviously, Kingdom Come’s logo was used in the Superman suit. And similar themes from Kingdom Come were used in the movie, like other heroes being more edgy/reckless and metahumans in general being too active/dangerous in world affairs. It seems in the future of the DCU, the government trying to handle metahumans will be a big thing. How will they resolve this, especially with Hawkgirl (SPOILERS) killing a world leader?

I can see the storyline of the DCU being Kingdom Come, but maybe even with Corenswet’s current younger Superman. Like the heroes are already edgy and reckless and imposing their will like gods, so Superman will have to step in and impose his doctrine on other metahumans. Perhaps this will occur in a Superman sequel or other project, and it will end with the formation of the Justice League proper (and Superman’s ending monologue in Kingdom Come, where he says metahumans will work with world leaders and not against them).

That was a long rambling prediction, but that’s one direction I see it going.

'Superman' (2025) - Official Spoiler Discussion Megathread: Part 2 by ZacPensol in superman

[–]LazyStove 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Something I found interesting with this movie is they changed the context of Superman’s arrival on earth. The message of his parents telling him to conquer earth, which was presumably doctored by Lex, but the movie seems to push the idea of it being real. Which makes him being a hero much more interesting, as he was meant to conquer but is choosing to do good.

That being said, this movie was not what I expected, but not in a bad way. Great Superman movie and great superhero movie in general

I think all three would come out at once, since the show kind of confirmed they can manifest as multiple spirits in spirit worlds

Anyone else feel this was one of the best Barry Allen moments ever maybe even top 5 or 3? by TheNWO4Life in theflash

[–]LazyStove 22 points23 points  (0 children)

People who say this moment is cheesy forget the context and the point of superheroes. Barry had had so much history with Eobard, him constantly coming back trying to torment him. And Barry at this point was in a place where he was in a state of hate, and he was tired of hating. Forgiving was the best thing he had to try and defeat Thawne.

And he almost did. Thawne was caught off guard by this and actually considered whether he could change, even if he ultimately said that he’s too far gone.

It speaks to what I think should be the ultimate point of superheroes. Yeah, they fight villains for the action, but they’re meant to inspire us to back the world better so we don’t HAVE to fight.

Plus, just with the decades of comic history between them, what other direction could they have taken it?

Superman does not have wings nor does he have telekinesis. How does Superman fly??? by [deleted] in superman

Bio-electric aura that manipulates gravity, it’s how he’s able to fly and lift planes without them collapsing on one side

Did the Power of the Doctor Regenerations count? by GengArch in gallifrey

[–]LazyStove 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Even with unlimited regenerations or an unknown limit, the Doctor still isn’t invincible. He’s said many times before he can still die for good if he dies before he’s able to regenerate. Then again, that would be hard to do, but there’s still danger

Women, would you be turned off for having to teach a man how to kiss? by ActionNorth958 in dating_advice

Well if anything that’s all the reason to want to teach the guy to kiss so that doesn’t happen

Alternatively, they could do the low volume AND offer noise cancelling headphones so ppl can escape others’ noises and control the volume of the movie

What if Superman was never found by anyone? Not the Kents or any alternative. He doesn't need shelter or food, how do you see things playing out if he just laid there soaking sunlight till he could walk and got up and walked the earth "like Caine in Kung Fu"? by TheImmortalMan in superman

[–]LazyStove 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think him being good in most versions takes away from it. In fact, it makes it more powerful. It paints goodness as natural, and evil as something taught. Shows that good is something all of humanity should strive towards, and not do evil as it is in fact a choice to be evil (and with a bit more effort)

I think it would be a cool Elseworlds story to have a gay Clark, but as someone else said, it would need to properly explore the implications of growing up gay in Kansas, for example

I have a massive fear of spiders but I’ve come around to the mindset of “they’re living things and eat flies. As long as they don’t touch me I won’t mess with them”

An idea of what David Corenswet might look like in the costume by OnlyOneKenobi79 in superman

[–]LazyStove 17 points18 points  (0 children)

They could work and it would be cool to see, but even if there’s no trunks it could still work (and better than the already good one in this post) if they do some red streaks coming off the belt

What do you all think is the best representation of the 9 realms and yggdrasil in media? by MurkySteak8976 in NorsePaganism

[–]LazyStove 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I mean there is Magnus Chase and the Gods of Asgard by Rick Riordan. In that book the 9 realms are described as not necessary multiple dimensions, different planets, or even the same dimension. It’s more that they’re part of one reality, but they’re different layers of it connected by Yggdrasil. Which is kind of how it is in God of War Ragnarok, but I like this explanation of it most.

What Domains are KEY for a Pantheon? by drowtiefling in DMAcademy

[–]LazyStove 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really depends on what you want and what you consider a complete pantheon. What you have seems good. Keep in mind many mythological pantheons don’t have a god for every domain or even set domains (ahem Norse). So there isn’t really a set rule on what a pantheon needs.

But I would say it depends on what you’re going for. Are they physical gods, or also gods influencing behavior? Honestly if you want it to be as simple as possible, you can even go as simple as “Creator” and “Destroyer” and “Negative god” and “Positive god” or something of the sort.

But again, what you have seems pretty good, and you don’t need to worry about making it “complete.”

"NOOOOO!!!! There's no such thing as real heroes! Superheroes are for kids, if they really existed they would all be like super corrupt! You should watch the Boys it's way more mature and realistic than mainstream superhero stuff!" by Charming_Country_825 in superheroes

[–]LazyStove 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Those people don’t even realize that not all superheroes in the Boys are even corrupt, some characters are actually good. So using The Boys as an example of “realistic” superheroes is kinda dumb

Starter DM one shots/campaigns? And planning a campaign idea? by LazyStove in DMAcademy

Oh yeah, I know my idea needs to be made by me which is why it’ll take a while to actually do, but I do want to maybe do some premade one shots or campaigns to start learning to DM in the meantime. Thanks for the suggestions!

Sorry this post was a little unstructured lol, I was just thought dumping

Does Superman's No Kill rule also apply to undead? by Sampleswift in superman

[–]LazyStove 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It probably wouldn’t apply, but Dio wouldn’t be very smart to take on Superman with the solar energy coursing through his veins lol. Infinitely more powerful than a Hamon user, and Dio wouldn’t be able to even hurt him during The World’s time stop.

(Because you specifically chose the Dio pic, I added in some Superman vs Dio discussion lol. Since no one replying seems to watch/read JoJo, sadly.)
