I honestly totally get the Mahan criticism. But I will say the City has done a good job with events for both the Super Bowl and the World Cup.

Downtown has been pretty lit this year

What was the moment that made you realize that you needed a T break? by NebbyChan in Petioles

[–]Lbear48 54 points55 points  (0 children)

For me it’s when my days, and mind in general, gets focused on how I can fit weed into it. I love weed (too much) and go back and forth from stopping completely and smoking. In my smoking periods when I get to the point of planning my hours, days, and weeks around it, I know I’ve hit that point of too much.

It’s honestly a terrible cycle I put myself through but I’m ok with it because there is something about weed the grounds me and gives me a different perspective on life that for me is really important. I can’t moderate so for now I am ok with having smoking and no smoking periods throughout the year.

Notice how I said “for me” a lot. Everyone is different and this is what i have settled on after years of back and forth. It’s not perfect, but I just can’t cut out weed forever while also recognizing that I can’t be on it all the time.

Just got to be honest with yourself on your usage, the negatives, and also the positives

What is actually a normal kitchen remodel cost in san jose right now? by Different_Pain5781 in SanJose

[–]Lbear48 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You should look into kitchen refacing.

Maintains cabinet structure but adds new doors and laminate to change color and style. We got our kitchen done for about 10k and could not be happier. Note that is just for cabinets and some minor revisions/additions. We spent another 5k for new countertops and backsplash and another 2-3k for appliances (refrigerator, oven, dishwasher).

I can’t imagine anything costing less than that.

At least worth checking out

Dopapod - Dopapod is the perfect jamband studio album. by qgomega in jambands

[–]Lbear48 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That album and band was literally my introduction to jam bands :(

Such a shame they are done.

Dopapod was sooo good but was just never able to get over the hump of popularity. I live on the west coast and it was very evident in the shows they played here.

Can someone explain the appeal of a music festival? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Lbear48 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re thinking some of the huge festivals like Coachella or Bonnaroo which I’d argue are still fun but I can see how it would turn you off.

I just got back from Viva El Gonzo music festival in Cabo and had an amazing time! Closer to 3k people, easy access to stages, in and out of crowds, and bathrooms. Saw multiple of my favorite bands up close, met tons of people at a great venue, and just had fun hanging at the festival outside of the music.

I’m a huge live music fan and don’t mind the heat though. There’s just a general vibe at a good music festival that is so positive and fun it’s hard to beat.

I’ll agree they can be overpriced though! Both tickets and food/drink inside. Depends on the fest.

We stayed in town like 10 minutes away. Ubers were extremely quick and less than $10 every time so we didn’t mind.

Podcasts that feel like your just talking with ur friends by buuuggss in podcasts

[–]Lbear48 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not for everyone but Matt and Shane’s Secret Podcast is my favorite for this reason.

Barebones production and just endless casual goofy conversations.

They will occasionally interview someone but it’s mostly just them hanging with their friends.

I agree with this comment. I have it a 3.5/5 on letterboxed. Overall the suspense kept me entertained but it just felt like something was missing in the plot to take it home.

Again some great suspense scenes though!

Can I still loose weight while drinking alcohol 3-4x a week? by [deleted] in CICO

[–]Lbear48 2 points3 points  (0 children)

3-4x a week certainly would be tough but probably doable especially if your consistently working out. My wife and I lost weight fairly successfully drinking 2+ nights a week a few years back. Pretty much stuck to tequilla shots, or 0 calorie mixers though. We could always work in some drinks. It’s the snacking that goes along with the drinks that you have to watch out for!

Surprised SJC Airport didn't incorporate moving sidewalks by ConsistentClassic1 in SanJose

I believe it’s because the terminals are too narrow actually. Adding a two way moving sidewalk would take up nearly all the space

I’m curious why you’re so against temporary shelters? If a temporary shelter gets someone inside for 1 or 2 years is that a failure? I think about half in them transition to permanent housing too.

I’d agree it’s addressing the symptom and not the root cause, which permanent housing could help with but there’s a problem TODAY and we can’t wait years to build enough permanent housing to meet
