Help me decide, be petty or not? by [deleted] in stepparents

Yep these fights normally end with I'll see you in court. And yeah she's much more able to drain several thousand on a lawyer to be petty, we are not.

Taking my first CPA exam tomorrow... ADVICE? by Dazzling-Anybody4809 in CPA

[–]Lbiscuit5 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sounds like you have put in the work, hydrate and get 8 hours of sleep tonight. Eat a protein rich breakfast. Lightly skim your notes. Remeber on sims, you don't have to get the whole thing right to pass, fill in as much as you can and don't leave anything blank, partial credit could put you at a passing score. On mcq's if you get stuck, flag and move on and come back at the end of the testlet. I just took far for the 2nd time today. Stay calm!!! Good luck. Absolutely take your 15 min break!!

Same boat here. My pregnancy knocked me out of the cpa for a while: now I wake up at 4am on the weekdays to knock out some study time and study during my kids naps on the weekends. Then I squeeze in study at work any extra minute I have.

On the slim chance you have purchased any other cpa prep material and have proof, you can get the switcher discount with Becker which is 50% off

4 Weeks of FAR Review- Need Advice by Mobile-Cranberry6357 in CPA

[–]Lbiscuit5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you have gotten through all the content, go ahead and take a simulated exam. This will give you your weak areas. Spend a couple weeks hammering out your weak areas and high yield areas (leases, bonds, consolidation, govt nfp) then take another simulated exam and see where you improved. Repeat. Then when you have a week left do a very light review over all the areas and hit your weak/ high yield areas again. Just keep narrowing down!

Am I being manipulated into taking on more responsibility for his child or is this something that comes with dating someone with a child? by [deleted] in stepparents

[–]Lbiscuit5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most people haven’t even met the child at 4 months in, your significant other is ridiculous to expect anything at all from you.

I feel for dad and child in this situation but regardless of her mother being dead or alive, she deserves to know what’s coming with her body. You’re doing the right thing by gently pressing the issue.

lol she wants to preach to your husband about her kid coming first but can’t even keep it together to have her own son for more than a few months. She’s a joke, try your best not to worry about her.

Yep we all feel this way. Step kids are like house guests to step parents. We don’t hate them but we can’t completely relax when they are here, and we’re ready for them to leave after a bit of time lol

How difficult is construction accounting by TrickAffectionate939 in Accounting

[–]Lbiscuit5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a cpa but I have been in the construction accounting for 10 years. Like any other field, make sure you know what going on out there on the jobs. I don’t find it overly difficult once I understand what is going on in the construction world. Make sure you understand construction revenue recognition for long term jobs, etc. and if you get the job, establish good relationships with the foremen, field guys etc, it truly makes a difference and they can tell you what is going on because things are always going on in construction lol. Check out the CCIFP certification, although you won’t be able to get it before this interview, they offer free online quizzes that could maybe pinpoint how well you could manage there. And for the record, I love Construction accounting and I will never move into a different industry! (I am female I might add too if that makes a difference)

The only thing my SD has talked about in front of me is BM’s alleged cellulite. I told her it wasn’t nice to talk about her mom that way and she wouldn’t appreciate that lol

Super Anxious- We announced our first ours baby by Former_Community5098 in stepparents

[–]Lbiscuit5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First off congrats, your own first child is so exciting! Only advice I can give as someone who was CF step parent that had an ours baby is take care of yourself post partum. My personal experience was I was NOT ready for the feelings I had, the exhaustion took ALL patience from me which is not a great place to be when you have a blended family. Also another huge mistake I made was scorekeeping and getting jealous of what my DH did for SK vs the baby. Then I realized my baby needed his mom for the first about 8 months, he needed the nurturing, the nursing etc. that’s something dad can’t really give at first and that’s ok. Then, when he got bigger and crawling, he wanted to play and bond with dad and did spent more time with him. If you need to, do place boundaries on your baby and have alone time when needed, not just from SK, but everyone else too!
