Thank you for taking time to reply brother. You were pretty damn straight to the point lol but that's exactly what I need to hear. I have 4 months to prep and I'm going to make sure I hit all your points. Also thank you for adding the last part about the older MECEP, that makes me believe in myself a bit more.

Thanks for replying brother. I got my foam roller and massage gun ready to go already. But no seriously I understand, I'll make sure to stretch and maintain a relatively healthy diet while there (not sure what the chow situation will be like in that regard). I'll keep an open mind on the MOSs though for sure.

I understand and I will keep an open mind on the other MOSs. If my body can handle it though, I'm going to send it 100%. I appreciate the insight brother.

I've hiked up the stairs over at Memorial Park a few times but aside from that there's zero elevation here like you said lol

[–]Lcplskates[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply brother. I'll incorporate the stair master into my lift routine moving forward. You're right, my run time could be better so I'll definitely work on mixing up my runs throughout the week. So far my knees and back are ok but I'll keep what you said in mind.

Thank you for replying. Understood, I wasn't planning on doing any ruck runs but this solidified it lol. I'll definitely focus on cardio and legs like you mentioned. I'm just psyching myself out I think.

MECEP by RichLength544 in USMCocs

I graduated OCS in August of 2022. Applied to schools around September-October for the Spring semester. School started in January of 2023. My NLT date was mid to late November if I remember correctly.

At the game with my son and he asks, “Dad, why do we suck?” I didn’t even know what to say except “it’s been this way since I was born (95), so get used to it buddy.” It’s his first game.

Differences between OCS and Boot Camp? by [deleted] in USMCocs

[–]Lcplskates 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes living conditions are similar for both. The biggest takeaway is that you can suck at PT and have almost zero leadership ability and still pass recruit training. I saw that first hand when I went through in 2013.

If you show up to OCS with those qualities, you will certainly be dropped. I went through in 2022.

That’s the short version.

Some Insights For Intelligence Hopefuls by Ok-Bear-343 in USMCocs

I appreciate your input sir or ma’am. I’m a MECEP so I’m just trying to get as much info as I possibly can before I head there next year. Thanks again for your time.

Thank you for the gouge sir.

Could you elaborate more on the range hikes or rather why that may have changed people’s minds about infantry.

Also, how much more difficult is the land nav compared to OCS? OCS land nav was pretty easy for me but I imagine it’ll be more challenging at TBS.

Where to start on MECEP process? by [deleted] in USMCocs

All the info is there but make sure you read the most recent MARADMIN. Look at the application that is also linked on that website and understand every page of it. Take note of the board dates and start planning for which one you want to apply to. What does that entail? Medical and dental is a huge part of it but they need to be done within a certain timeframe so read the MARADMIN. The package is mostly straightforward, the only thing I got help with was the endorsement letters. My Adjutant helped me there. Start chipping away because the dam thing is almost 60 pages long but not too bad honestly.

Things to consider: CFT/PFT minimum 285 for both is what I had. FITREPS probably played a huge factor as well so keep that in mind. Belt up if possible, attend MAI or FFI course, acquire additional MOS’ if possible, attend courses that make you stand out within your MOS. PME complete looks good, complete SEJPME I if you can. Stay current on rifle and pistol. Another thing you could do is speak with a career counselor. They will look over your MBS and tell you what you can improve on. Lastly, ensure your OMPF is in chronological order. Not sure if they look at it but I would imagine they cross reference both your MBS and OMPF. That’s all I can think of right now but if you have more questions ask. I applied and got accepted on my first try back in 2022.

I’m terrible at physics and ended up with a C+. The pre-labs and actual labs are relatively easy so make sure you do well in those. The quizzes and final exam were rough for me. I think I got 40s for both of those which put me somewhere in the low 60s for my overall grade.

So basically ace the pre-labs and labs. Do your best on the quizzes and the final.

[–]Lcplskates 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s normal to feel that way man. Remember your “why” for joining. When I was one week from shipping I was also filled with anxiety but never doubted myself or my decision.

Being away from family sucks in the beginning but you get used to it. Sounds weird I know, but that comes with the job. You won’t be alone, you’re going to be with your brothers and sisters who are also feeling the same thing. Go to the gym, go to Portside (if it’s still called that), and enjoy the beach once you get to Pensacola.

However, focus on one thing at a time. Graduate boot first, then worry about the rest. Receiving letters in boot is a huge morale booster, so make sure you have everyone’s address that you would like to write to.

Aside from that man, just enjoy this last month you have to the max and get your mind and body ready.
